Marijuana's affect on pain
Need to know all the positive possibilities of smoking the stuffs, so's I can convince my dad to let his 20 year old son with kids of his own decide whether he should be able to make the choice for himself or not.
Run-on ftw.

I don't have time to do the research for you, but I don't think this is a run-on. If you just put "I" at the beginning of the sentence it should be ok.

Marijuana's affect on pain
100% of OTC analgesics (outside of places you can get opiates) operate through cannabinoid mechanisms to provide analgesia - most through COX inhibition increasing the amount of oleic/arachyndolic acid avaliable to anandamide/oleamide synthesis, but APAP through conversion to arachyndoylparahydroxyanaline, a cannabinoid reuptake inhibitor.
If you're really bored, you can even print off the wikipedia pages to hand him.

Re: Marijuana's affect on pain
I doubt this will help your case, but for me pot does not help pain. In fact, it makes it much much worse.
Well, that's not quite right. It doesn't actually increase the level of pain. But it sure the fuck makes me much more aware of it and focused on it. That's why I don't smoke if the pain is particularly bad.

Word, I just feel overall "better" when baked.
OP, why not just smoke in "stealth mode"? I made a thread a few links down, where people have posted their hints and tips.

Well, if my joints are creaking, yeah, it just makes it more pronounced. After smoking most times though, I just feel like sitting and not moving much anyways. It makes it easier to sit still and not move those aching joints.

I smoked in "stealth mode" for 5 years while living with my parents, and now at age 20 REFUSE to sneak around like a jackass. Plus, greater risk of getting caught if I go outside.

Re: Marijuana's affect on pain
I suffer from constant chronic pain, and will for the rest of my life, or at least until this piece of shit is amputated. I hurt to the point of illegally ordering lidocaine and injecting it into my muscles and ankle, opiates don't work, nothing works, but pot helps a whole fuck load. I need pot. And don't read into that as some bullshit addiction, I need it for pain, or I am literally fucked on doing anything, I just hurt too bad.

noob do opiates like flat out not work with you like you have a genetic problem with your opiate receptors, or are they not strong enough to alleviate your ankle pain?

Re: Marijuana's affect on pain
I'm not saying I don't get fucked up. I get majorly fucked up :D But I still hurt. And though I've never shot heroin, I've smoked it and snorted it, and I've shot fentanyl and morphine, and none of that worked, though the fentanyl was better than any others as far as pain killing vs buzz, with more analgesia than buzz, which is what I want.
Oh, and today I go to get lidocaine patches I asked my Dr. to call in to the pharmacy, and they are a hundred fucking dollars WITH my insurance. I can't afford that shit. It seems the drugs that help they either won't give me, or I can't afford, and the drugs that do help are either being used off label, and against medical advice (lidocaine injections) or are flat out illegal, (pot, or diverted sources of Soma, no script).
I always said when I was younger that I would smoke pot till the day I die, but I had no idea I would NEED to smoke it till the day I die. I am so pissed and frustrated right now.
On a plus note I was finally able to get through to the SS office, and get the ball rolling further on my disability application. I don't really want it, but if they won't amputate this motherfucker so I can be normal, and work, then I have no other option.

Re: Marijuana's affect on pain
I remember a few months ago a stnudy was done where they injected capsaicin (the burning ingredient in hot peppers) into people, and the people who smoked pot actuall;y were in more pain.
So pot Can actually intensify pain.

i think it can go either way. im hypersensitive so when im ripped, i either feel numb and tired or like speedy and fucked.
it can make pain more noticeable or at the same time dull it.
i think benzos take away the mental aspect of pain (you dont even pay attention to the fact that something hurts), while marijuana definitely has some analgesic properties.

Re: Marijuana's affect on pain
dude this is way to broad of a question.
but anyway to hit the title, i hit my head skating two weeks ago and i blazed a fat bowl afterwards and it definitely helped the headache. they also prescribe girls medicinal marijuana for severe cramps so im pretty sure it helps pain. also prescribe to people with terminal cancer to help them feel good. i wouldnt argue with the doc!
