Default Mentoring younger people with relationships and sexuality.

Just like I am an apprentice in my career, Should younger people have mentors for relationships and sexuality? I've pondered this for some time now, as very few younger people have any knowledge of these two things, and as a result causes great chaos in their lives. When I say younger, I mean a person who is of legal age that consents to your instruction, not children.

Looking back, I wish I would have had such a mentor to teach me the things that my parents didn't. Obviously, I wouldn't really want to experience sexuality with my parents, however there was a gap. I went out of my way to learn things on my own, but man would it have been nice to have someone show me the ropes, instead of the trial and error method that I was forced to use. Now that I'm older, I see a lot of younger people, less gifted than myself, struggling with the same things. Often, I wonder if I should help a younger person 16-18, and teach them about relationships and sex. I can understand how this may seem weird, possibly perverted, but this is mainly to this not being the norm.

I'm just looking at this idea objectively, not planning to execute the idea or any such thing. Only theoretical.

When I was 9, a 13 year old girl introduced me to porn... (back then, there was no porn on the internet... Maybe ASCII porn in some telnet channel, but no pics).

She also took my hand and guided it along her private areas.

More chicks should do that.

I remember a couple of instances like that when I was younger, good times.
I remember when I was 5, I used to play doctor and house with this little Jewish girl the same age. We use to get naked on the couch under a blanket and play with each other using only a flashlight for light. Later, we got caught wearing no tops with my arm around her sleeping. We were playing house just like we saw on daytime television. Good thing we were only caught doing that. When I think back, I don't remember having a single female friend that I didn't have a sexual experience. This probably explains my inability to have friendship with any women to this day without sexual interaction, except for family members, eww.
Sexual experiences make friendships.

That is a huge problem.

I mean, a younger person should have someone who can teach them how to protect themselves and such, but that person almost HAS to be a parent/guardian in this day and age. If you try anything with someone who is not a child or close blood, say showing them porn, well in the US that is some bullshit law about polluting the innocence of minors, and it will be on your record. Be VERY careful with that idea.

Pssh. You ruined it by being afraid of being radical or original. :p

...as to the broader idea itself... I'm sort of torn, honestly. To be certain, I would consider the active exchange of knowledge, information, experience and ideas to be vital to a culture, on any topic, and the more the topic is shoved into the dark the more important it becomes; suppressing information and enforcing isolation is a tool most often used, well, to hurt people.

OTOH... the concept of "mentoring" inherently implies a heirarchical, coercive, top-down sort of arrangement... almost a "your sexuality will conform to what I say it is at the rate I dictate it" sort of thing. 'n that, I am not so comfortable with.

I'd like to see a discussion circle, though... nonsegregated, noncensored, open discourse... sort of a hippie circle.

Of course, I've seen such things. You'd be surprised what young girls get up to talking about when there are no adult-like adults around. ;) Buuuut... yeah.

We still do not live in integrated communities. Generations, cultures, and class serve to isolate just about everyone. 'n that's hurting our development as people...

In Greek society, an older man would have a relationship with a younger boy.
