Default "My Boyfriend is the Greatest."

(Note: this is not about my ex)

So, I have a good friend of mine who was in a relationship not too long ago. Anyways, we've always been friends since the day we met and she's one of the few people I can confide in. However, on myspace she posted a new bulletin about her boyfriend every day. I couldn't quite break it to her that he wasn't that cool but I figured she'd find out eventually.

We've been talking more than usual recently, and the other night they broke up (Because the boyfriend had a "different path in life") She got online and started venting to me and the only thing I said was "I'm sorry that your boyfriend broke up with you and all, but this actually made me kind of happy." When she asked me to elaborate I only said: "Well, look, this is one less girl posting 'my boyfriend is the greatest bulletins on myspace."

Now, this pissed her off quite a bit. So, I elaborated. I said "Greatest is a singular term, if everyone I know thinks their significant other is the greatest, then their significant other is really obviously not the greatest. Think about it in terms of numbers. It's kind of like 'Highlander: THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE.'"

So she blocked me. But come on, think about it, don't you get sick and tired of people talking about how great their fucking significant other is, especially when you're single? I mean, I think I had a right to burn this bitch. Am I in the wrong?

you are right, shes wrong. happy now? you cant tell women that they cant have 4 'best' friends, the 'greatest' boyfriend or anything else logical. so whos the real moron? the one who doesnt have the ability to make objective statements or the one who knows she cant and still gets into an argument about it with her?

One thing I've learned is you do not, under any circumstances, tell emo chicks that their myspace bulletins are shitty.

They go batshit.

The only thing I hate is those who have to rain on everyone's parade, out of spite for their own life being pathetic. It's called envy, and your weak if this affects you in life. Know the truth, keep it to yourself and confidants, and use it too your advantage when possible.

^ How true.

You know what, OP? She just broke up with her boyfriend, who she thought was the greatest, and hoping to be able to confide in you, her friend, you pretty much just poked her in a soft spot for no reason. Obviously you're right- there can only be one greatest- but is you being right about such a stupid, petty thing worth kicking her while she was down? It really wasn't the smartest move on your part.

Oh, your an ass hole.
That makes it all ok to behave in that way to someone in that situation over a small and unimportant technicality of the english language.

um yes? its funny when a dog loses his favorite toy and runs around searching for it only to eventually discover that youve been hiding it from him all along. why shouldnt people amuse themselves with the mild suffering of beings with lesser mental capacity?

Who said they had lesser mental capacity?
It's just one stupid teenage twat bitching to another stupid teenage twat.

One's obsessed with her boyfriend.
The other's obsessed with how much better she is than her friend, because she doesn't have a boyfriend to bleat about and wouldn't even if she did, because she's that much better.

And yes, I realise that you are the one who said something about mental capacity.

How wonderful for you. Doesn't mean being a dick makes you any less of a dick.

Still, why bother being annoyed by what people say on myspace? It's designed to make people like that, so why bother being surprised? Your the one paying attention to her. Not her.

If I had a girlfriend that posted myspace bulletins about me like that I'd break up with her too

Anybody who posts bulletins are unfit for a relationship in my mind. They have to tell the world about things they think people should care about.
