I was wondering if it would be possible to upload your US version of the Classics firmware.

I have a UK ipod, and as it is in Europe, it does have that pesky volume cap built in to the EU firmware which is not in the US firmware.

I have no clue. I don't have a classic. All I know is that I found the link on apples support forums and figured it would be pretty straightforward. Let me see if I can dig anything else up.

I can't find anything else, but I have an idea. take the origianal zip file (should be in your trash) and remove the .zip from it (without extracting). then double click on it with your iPod connected. It opened iTunes when I did this. I don't have a classic so I don't know if it'll work but it's worth a shot.

Hm, so it seems like it is the ipods serial number, and not any regional settings which determine the firmware you get.

Annoying.

Hopefully Gopod will update, though, I doubt it.

I don't see the problem with it really, aren't there any sly tech fiends out there whom can do it just like the older ipods?

EDIT: It appears that the file you lines to is to downgrade the ipod touch thanks anyway!

The downgrade file was the only file I could find, and it supposedly worked with the classic according to that damn thread I couldn't find again. At least I tried.
