Default Windows not so hot after all

If that's what happens in a stable "secure" release of Windows... may lord have mercy on all your XP users souls.

Once again the Propagandized Linux Cult (just calling it the Linux Cult doesn't specify the brainwashing) takes an article about a certain aspect of code that can be applied to ANY operating system and trumpets it because its used against Windows.

Rootkits aren't new, nor are boot sector infections. This rootkit could be used to do the *same thing* to Linux, OSX, *BSD, Solaris, etc. These "researchers" brought up two old topics: editing the boot sector and writing code to BIOS. Both of these ideas are wash-outs due to security checks found on all modern hardware.

Trueborn, he is retaliating against a thread I made in Everything *NIX.

You can talk the in depth talk I can cover the 'regular' person perspective

I share your view on the Linux user cult.

Yeah, I'm staying out of it.

I don't care what people use. I just think it's fucking retarded when people who have absolutely no professional experience try to tell me about my industry as if they know more about it than I do.

Results: No execution anomaly
Comments: Did absolutely nothing to any of my computers other than bringing up a security dialog asking if I would like to execute the contained code and recommending "no."

We (or at least, I was) were referring to people like you that preach the use of Linux actively and are non-stop with the antiM$!!! bullshit. Yeah we get the dollar sign, Microsoft makes money, 'oh no' you say as you stuff your face with McDonalds and slurp on your soft drink.

Mac users are smug about their OS and Linux users can't shut the fuck up about their 'freedom' and 'security' and whatever nonsense you speak.

I listen to music, type up documents and browse the internet. Where exactly is my freedom squashed? As for security I look after myself, just as I look after my car...sure I lock it up but I'm not leaving my window down with a wallet inside, hell even if I had the door unlocked there's no bounty within anyhow.

A malicious intruder onto my system would be solely disappointed in finding a music collection and some random documents for uni and that I've downloaded was all I had, I guess one benefit of someone breaking in is they could find I go on totse and laugh at the shit I pile on idiots here.

People like me? What do you have against McDonald's and soft drinks? How would you even know where I eat? Maybe I'm a health nut.

I don't have a problem with M$ making money. It's a business not a charity. I just prefer open source software, which is superior to proprietary software. Go ahead and hate me for liking something free. The thing I really dislike about Microsoft is their close relationship with our nosy-as-fuck government. The thing I hate about Windows is that it's closed source. Since it's closed source I can't really see what's going on behind the scenes even if I wanted to. All this super secret, secrety, secretive bullshit is only good for keeping the precious source code from being stolen, not actually fixing problems. It's obviously beyond your comprehension to realize that the more eyes you have on a piece of code the more likely you are to detect a flaw in that code. The faster you detect a flaw the faster you can start on fixing it. The more people you have working on a bug, odds are it will get fixed faster and better. MS is notoriously slow at everything.

Since you like to compare car security to computer security I'll try to level with you. It's absofuckinglutely nothing like computer security but still, I'll level with you. Windows is like a 70s model car with cheap windows that shatter easily. The locks are still easy as fuck to pick, you can open it with a hanger, and if you just don't give a fuck you can force the window down/break it. Also keep in mind that the car company worked with the NSA to build this car. God knows why the NSA would need to be involved unless they had a tracking device on it, or maybe a microphone somewhere. Or maybe a little hidden button somewhere that opened it up faster than the hanger method in case they wanted to search your shit. Linux is like a new Ferrari with bullet resistant windows. It's fast, sexy, and hard as fuck to steal/break into. Now maybe you don't care about car security. Fuck your old ass car you'll be getting a new one anyways. But maybe a bunch of mexicans could steal your POS ride and do drive by on someone. Maybe take it for a joyride and do a hit and run that puts your ass in jail. Maybe they're using it as a base for their new phishing expedition. Maybe it's hosting a massive library of CP they share with their pedo friends. Get where I'm going with this? You don't really need a lot of external security with most Linux distros. You should be just fine out of the box. Windows out of the box is like a girl running through central park at midnight naked. She's just trying to get to the service pack, av, and firewall as fast as she can. She better pray to bill that someone isn't out there looking for some fun.

tl;dr Linux is more secure than Windows will ever be. Security is important to me. I like security and free stuff. I don't like how Windows is insecure, expensive, how I can't see wtf is going on behind the scenes, and how MS is too fucking close to the government. Does that make me a fanatic? No. I'm nothing close to a real Linux fanboy. Does it make me want to make an effort to debate you when you say something from a very narrow minded point of view? Yes.
