Growing in the closet
I'm starting a grow in my closet very soon, would people who may be in my room be able to smell it if theres 2 plants? What about with a sea of green with 24 plants? I plan on using bounce sheets to my advantage here as much as possible.

Re: Growing in the closet
People would probably be able to smell it from pretty far away, my friends and I can smell bud whenever we go down a certain street...think theres a grow op going on there.

Re: Growing in the closet
I had the shit smelling before it even flowered..and was only about 1-2 feet high. You could smell it standing directly in front of my closet door.
Good luck, im reattempting myself...ill let you know what i use when that time comes!

Re: Growing in the closet
If you are growing one plant, an Ona Block or two should reduce the smell a fair bit. Google it.

Re: Growing in the closet
My aunt smokes dope in her house...and ontop of her bookshelf in the livingroom she has a $150 air ionizer. Never smelt pot in her house once(assuming thats what she uses it for).
Wonder if those would be effective for this situation. Then ontop of that just burn a candle in the bedroom.

It depends on a lot of things. 24 plants is going to stink when they are flowering even if they are small. 2 plants is not a good number you need atleast 4 and prey atleast 2 are female.
Lol bounce sheets? You need a carbon filter /end thread.
Edit: what happend to grow thread?

Re: Growing in the closet
Doesn't look like anyone in here has ever been to a grow house...
I've never participated in growing bud, but I used to know a few guys that had grow ops going.
Weed doesn't smell that bad when it's growing, it actually doesn't even smell like bud. It DOES have a distinct smell, but only someone whom knows what bud growing like would be able to pick out the smell.
1 plant really isn't worth it, and how large is the closet if you plan on doing a SOG of 24 plants? Not to mention you've gotta have ventilation for your plants, and you need more than just one room for a SOG operation. Gotta have somewhere for the mothers, cuttings, vegging plants, and flowering plants.
You can really keep the mothers and vegging plants together, preferably under either a 400w MH or a T5 setup, I'd prefer the T5 setup.
For the cuttings, I'd keep them under a T5 setup definitely.
Do a 2 3x3 ebb and flow tray for your flowering. That'll take 3'x6' in space, add a few feet on there so you can move around it though. For lighting I'd run a 1000w HPS light over the trays on a mover, put a 6" blower at least on that beast. That should be enough to get a good enough yield and manage an okay SOG operation.
If you really want to keep the smell gone, just ventilate it well enough with a carbon filter, ALSO get an ozone generator. Not to mention you're going to need a portable AC unit to keep temps down.
You do know for a SOG, you're going to use quite a bit of electricity, right?
AC is about 1000W
flowering room=1300W
vegging=200-400W
cuttings=200W
That's also quite a bit of space. But, the great thing about SOG ops is that you're constantly harvesting. Think about it. Veg your plants for 2 weeks and only have 6-8 plants vegging at a time. Once those 6-8 are ready for flower (1'-2'), move them onto the first row of the ebb and flow. Place cuttings into the vegging area for their 2 weeks then move them up, and move the other plants in the flowering area forward into the second row, and start more cuttings etc. etc. Keep them moving every 2 weeks and you'll eventually be harvesting between 6-8 plants every 2 weeks.
For water, make sure to keep an eye on ph and try your best to use reverse osmosis water. Using this, you'll be able to add more fertilizer. Buy yourself a ph and EC meter so you can check that and make sure your water is clear enough.
For chemicals, there are many great combinations out there that work. If I were to go with anything though, I'd use dutchmaster gold grow and gold flower, probably with liquid light from dutchmaster added in there to make up for the lack of light (realistically, if power weren't an issue, I'd run 2 1000W lights over the flower chamber with massive 12" blowers to keep temps good). Another good chemical is stretch stop when used correctly, it'll make your plants not get really tall, and keep them shorter and bushier which is a lot better for a SOG setup. Also, cut off any branches that don't develop buds, they are just drawing energy from the light without any benefit.
Speaking about temperatures, once you have all your equipment ready and set up, run it all for the time you would when you have plants in it.
Note, you should only run equipment at night since it'll stay cooler. The equipment is a little loud, but with the right insulated ducting it won't be. If I were to do it, I'd run my equipment from 10pm-10am in the flowering. And 8pm-2pm in the veg, cutting, mother plant section.
Don't interrupt the light cycles, that could fuck your plants up.
Oh, and DEFINITELY don't do it in an apartment. It'd be way too much equipment to move in 24hrs if given notice of an inspection.
This is all I can think of at the moment, I'll re-read this tomorrow and add anything I can think I may have forgotten.

Interesting. When my plants were growing they would smell skunky but the intensity of the smell went up and down
. It usully was more stinky when it was warmed up in there.
