Drugs + International Waters
I know theres maritime laws but when your on international waters your outside all countries juristriction so how can they prosecute you for doing something illegal when your outside the area where its illegal. If I do something illegal in Pakistan the Chinese police can't prosecute me because I didn't do anything illegal in China.
Whats stopping people from buying a big yacht stocked with drugs, sailing it into international waters and charging people about $500 per night to stay on the boat and take as much drugs as they want legally? How much drugs can 1 man take in one night? You could easily adjust it so its profitable. An all you can take drug binge. On a boat.
Theres always the problem of getting the drugs to the boat but you could easily find ways to solve that problem.

Re: Drugs + International Waters
if the un didnt have jurisdiction, you could keep the drugs on a boat in the middle of the ocean, and pick it up from the yacht.

yeah, hey, could we just make a giant floating platform to grow food plants + weed + psychedelics and stuff on, and anchor it in the tropics somewhere? :)

Re: Drugs + International Waters
UN, Interpol? You telling me these bastards control the sea too? Fuck the world is going to shit. All these conspiracy theorists who I thought were rambling nutjobs over the years are turning out to be right. I know if there were no laws on the seas then pirates could hijack ferries crossing the Atlantic but when you think about it do pirates really give a fuck about the law?
Ah yeah I thought about pirates. We'd have to mount the boat with heavy artillery and hope to god the bastards don't find us. Modern day pirates don't sail around in the middle of international waters though. They prowl around tourist areas where they're likely to find boats to rob. Thats why theres so many of them around South America and the Caribbean.

You have the thought process of a naive infant. Sure, pirates don't care about laws in the waters of shit nations like those of southern africa. Have fun tooling up against Interpol.

Just hire Bill Murray to guard your boat and he will kill all the pirates with a pistol.

Re: Drugs + International Waters
Ah yeah your right there pirates wouldn't have much of a chance of getting away with robbing a ferry even in international seas. They do get away with robbing boats around central and south america though. The only way for a floating drug barge to work is if it remained completely anonymous and had no unwanted attention but that would make attracting customers impossible. Theres rich people who do this but only with parties of their own friends. They don't make a business out of it.
If there were no laws on international waters the problem is theres no laws to protect you from whoever finds you. The military or anyone else could murder everyone on the boat and they wouldn't even be breaking the law. Theres the main problem with laws. Too little laws and everyones vulnerable. Too many laws and everyones imprisoned.

the USAF would just drop a 500lb bomb on you, and say it was the meth lab on board that had exploded.
