Default Why Leopard?

I still am on Tiger. I have not been convinced that I need Leopard. This thread is so that you can say why you like Leopard so much more.

I suppose it is because I got it free. (buy a mac in the months running up to its release sort of thing)

Time machine I use
New things with the dock such as list view for my apps folder
Quick look is a real good feature, probably the best of leopard.

never really use spaces, although I can see the need for it.

That is really all i can think of. There arent really any reasons to buy Leopard if you have Tiger, im sure you can find open source alternatives for the features I mentioned.

Default Re: Why Leopard?

I bought Leopard when the 10.5.1 version was released, I didn't really want to be guinea pig this time around.

Some of the features I use a lot are:

Quicklook - OK when just sampling, a bit buggy when it comes to displaying images that have been edited in Keynote.

Spaces - I use it from time to time, usually when playing Mario in class.

Stacks - looks cool

Dashcode - Make my own Dashboard Widgets.

iChat Screen Sharing - When someone needs troubleshooting help, I can now tell them to fuck off in Real Time.

VPN Screen Sharing - Good when you don't want to walk all the way downstairs in order to Click "Okay" for the mentally retarded.

I wouldn't recommend getting Leopard as of yet, there's still many bugs to be fixed, I am personally downgrading to Tiger 10.4.11.

The Dock is a joke, I hate it so much, I changed it to a more fitting Black color, I used SuperDocker.

Don't get it if you aren't willing for everything to be broken, the same way everything always breaks every time apple does anything.
GPG and decent wifi drivers are examples.

Why does it seem to be anyone but me that gets all these problems?

I used the upgrade method and everything works smoothly.

Ah...I forgot about the dock, i also changed it to a nice black glass 2D one.

Its not that different really. I've noticed it buggers up your net config though.
Will post more when I'm home

Hah, thanks for confirming. The only thing I can think Id like is quicklook. I'll wait for the next thing to come out or for there to be compatibility issues and I need Leopard to run most apps.

If you want to find some alternatives to Leopard features but for Tiger, here is a nice website post:

It's been giving me some real headaches as of late. Beach balls, files deleting themselves, everything lagging, apps quitting.

It comes with some nifty apps, like Time Machine, but over-all I'd say Tiger is better.

My opinion anyway.
