I guess that's the official title for the new movie now. seeming as it's only been since maybe like...October since it was confirmed; I'm surprised a trailer is already out for it -- let alone, it's due out ithis July. but they keep top secret with that shit...it was probably already in post-production by that time.

not much detail is given in that at all; but apperently it's more along the lines of "monster of the week", rather than "myth-arc" -- to those of you fellow X-file fans who know what I mean. to those not -- it'll be a stand-alone movie (though still chronological), based on a monster or strange events, rather than the more alien-based and conspiracy side of The X-files.

anyway, I can't wait. I've been keeping track of this for a while now.

Quite a surprise, I had no idea it was coming so soon.

I look forward to either (i.e. aliens versus monsters), but if the focus is on the latter I imagine there will be renewed life to the series (I mean through the cinema, but who knows).

Oh hell fucking yeah. I always liked the monster ones better than the alien story line.

I just recently obtained all seasons and the first movie. I caught it when it was on television here and there (mostly a few episodes from Season 1, 2, and 3). I must say I really enjoy it, but I doubt I'll be finished with it all before the movie comes out.

I used to categorize X-Files episodes into 1's (episodes continuing the alien conspiracy, usually two parters) 2's (standard procedural's, monsters/paranormal shit) and 3's (still usually procedural's, but much more humorous or involving some other angle (X-Cops and that haunted house christmas episode for example).

I hope they come out with a film in 2012 to wrap up the whole mythology storyline. If not I'll be disappointed.

I was pleasantly surprised at the last X-Files movie so I have pretty good hopes that this one will turn out good, although the monster-of-the-week episdoes did get a little old after a while.

I'm not sure how I feel about this yet, but I'm definitely seeing it opening night either way. I mean, c'mon, it's the fucking X-Files. There better be a Mulder/Scully sex scene, because the series finale totally killed any possibility of continuing the sexual tension/ambiguous relationship.

I don't see Reyes on the cast list, thank God.

Hahahaha same here, except I didn't have a numbering system. I just divided it between alien conspiracy/Syndicate episodes and everything else. Separate section for Smoking Man and Alex Krycek episodes. The night they first aired "Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man" was like the best moment of my 10 year old life, and I practically pissed myself out of pure joy when he showed up in the last episode. It's really too bad they killed him off like that... whole episode was just lazy writing (besides having some great dialogue).

I really doubt you'd have to. it's a story of it's own. I'm sure there will be references of sorts; but it doesn't pick up right up from where the show left off. atleast not to where you won't know what's going on.

if I remember right the last season was without mulder and scully, anyway. most likely why it was cancelled. so if you missed that, oh well.

plus this movie is confirmed to be of the "Monster of the week" X-file style. a stand alone monster story, not of the primary x-file story line. such as the last film.

If you watch the final seasons of the X-Files, you'll just be more confused than when you started.

Well, tell me after you guys have watched the movie, as I wouldn't want to ruin my movie experience by going to watch it, then just to realised that I half-grasped the story, ended downloading and wtaching season8 & 9 , and re-watch the whole thing again.

I know-I know,...I'm a x-files freak.

I have seen the trailer for it, and I must say it doesnt look too thrilling. Im still going to see it, I just hope its a good movie.
