| Better Living Through Chemistry Discussions of any and all sorts of mind-warping chemicals, pills, booze, mind machines, trippy stuff, current street prices, importing pharmaceuticals, smart drugs, nutrients, herbs, and altered states. Please try to keep your conversations "theoretical" in nature, since this is an open conference. |

casomorphine
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casomorphine
anyone know if it would be worthwhile to make it? I know caesin is easy to extract from milk, but thats the limit of my knowledge. Probably just some weak ass shit, but if there was a way then the base material is easy to obtain.

Re: casomorphine
Remember when that myth was going around about "Bananadine"? I tried that shit out in year 8, just made me smell funny. It took me three years to figure out you'd get better effects just eating the damn banana's than smoking the dried up skin.

They're all a truly trivial peptide synthesis, but...
I know caesin is easy to extract from milk, but thats the limit of my knowledge.
...if that's the limit of your knowledge, you should probably just eat the caesin and let your digestive tract do the work.
Somewhere around here, there's a trip report from a guy who did that...

Re: casomorphine
Actually, some people do this naturally (metabolize the caseinate). It's been linked to bipolar disorder.
As far as I recall, it is not really that recreational, though. The effects are subtle and really not comparable to other opiates/opioids. As a young child, I would sometimes drink 2+ litres of milk per day. I still would, if it was available like that (despite its numerous health detriments). I'm bipolar, and I've read quite a lot about it. We tend to produce casomorphine better than those without bipolar. I believe that the effect casomorphine had on me led me to subconsciously crave it, thus drinking so much of it.
It's worth a shot, for the adventure, but don't expect to much.
