I can imagine it would be rather hard to break up, but remain friends, while sleeping in the same bed.

I'm friends with my ex, and we are actually getting closer, but that is after quite a long while of awkwardness, and due mainly to the fact that we still hand out with the same people and have a lot of mutual friends.

I figure that the 'lets be friends' thing often means "well liked the sexual benefits but couldnt really be bothered to make a relationship work. Lets fuck!"

If that's cool with you, then cool.
However.. I dunno, maybe I've got the wrong type of friends, but they dont generally share a bed with me and cradle my balls.

Would a fuck-buddy relationship be cool with you?
If yes, you're going the right way about getting one. If not, maybe the 'lets be friends' thing just isnt going to work.

Sucks you broke up, sorry about that. Atleast she didnt break your heart like how happened with Rykoshet.

You guys let the title of the stress get to you both. You can be lovers and care about each other deeply and breaking up completely is never the answer. It is basically running away. Technically you guys still do everything you did in a relationship without the title but yet it seems so much less stressful and simple. My question is, why?

My theory is that you guys never gave one another equal space and time to breathe when it was mostly needed. The "breaking up" basically takes away the mental stress yet still leaving you feeling this way about each other.

You two are still young and still dumb. Though i think this "break" is needed i still believe you two can continue to be committed with each other and have a successful relationship if you don't let the stresses of a relationship tie you down. It's all in your head but when there is a real reason to break it off with someone you will know. This breakup was needed to calm down everything and makes you stop and take a step back and look around at everything and to stop taking everything for granted.

Breaking up and being friends, it's WEIRD.

That shit never works. Either you become fuck buddies or you really dislike them. None of this best friend bullshit.

The loves there without all the relationship drama and all the bullshit that entails. You've hit the good spot imo.

Fucking this. What is the fucking deal? Not that I'm complaining. Fuck her. But cradling your balls? That's sort of weird man. Who the fuck does that? What, does she just like the feeling of your rough, hairy ballsack?

^ Great post.

I'm friends with a few exs. It only gets weird if you let it. Sleeping in the same bed is a complete other story though.

so she gives you kisses, "cradles your balls", you guys sleep in the same bed, and naked?

this is a breakup to you? why dont you call it an open relationship or a fuck buddy? doesnt sound like much has changed though.

it also sounds like she has the power now. shes the one deciding to do this stuff to/with you and youre the one sitting here going "wtf?". if you feel like doin something back to her, then do it, since that seems to be what shes doing. however thats not going to work if you want to break up. but do you? it doesnt sound like it. sure it was mutual?

It didn't really phase me until you pointed that out.

And why does it seem that everytime I go on &T theres a thread describing my current situation?

Yeah dude its weird. Me and my girl are going through much the same thing after going out for over a year. It's just weird now, like we will barely talk all week but then on the weekend she comes over, saying she misses me a lot, and we will fuck and basically be a couple all weekend.

It's almost to the point where i wanna break up completely because I just want like a definite answer to where our relationship is going. But I really don't wanna do that either because we both still love each other and think it could work in the long term and stuff.

There's no power struggle, trust me. She's doing this stuff with me, yet I'm the one declining it. Tell me how that puts her in control?

Also to the people confused about ball cradling... don't you guys ever cup your girlfriends tits in your/her sleep? That's all she's doing, cupping my balls. Seems pretty affectionate to me. Meh, what ever.

Breaking up and being friends just doesn't work. It never does. Never. Never ever. Ever.

If you attempt this, you WILL get back together or fool around over and over again until eventually it becomes a very sick relationship where you are stuck in a cycle of the same problems always being there but nobody willing to take themselves out of the equation to solve it. Eventually you will go your separate ways. It will probably take a while. Could be a few months, could be a year or two or longer. I've been there. End result is always the same. Sorry.

The upside is, you can probably get sex out of her for now.
