Anyways, as I was saying... I started my period yesterday, and I use tampons. I always use OB regular tampons, and I've never had a problem with them.

But for some reason now I'm (notice I said 'I'm,' not 'they're') leaking... I thought that the tampon was full, so I changed it, but it was barely half full. I put another one in about an hour ago, and now it's leaking. I know there's no way it could possibly be full either. What gives?

Should I get those nasty super-duper sized ones that make you feel like you're walking around with a tube of toilet paper in your crotch? I have to go to work in an hour and I really don't want to have blood stains all over my pants. Fuck.

I've had that happen, but only when I was using a different brand than what I usually use. I don't know why that would happen all of a sudden with the same ones you've always been using. If it's that dire a situation, try picking up some Playtex Sport or Gentle Glide tampons. You've probably seen the commercials; they fan out as they absorb and leave less room for leakage.

Maybe try switching brands, like someone else said. For me, playtex tend to leak if I'm doing anything active, but tampax open wider (I have a wide-set vagina :(), and that solves the problem.

whoever said pads ftw is really weird. I find the only people who prefer pads haven't used tampons. You get blood on your body, it's less "safe" and some girls I walk by them and can smell them. If people aren't sanitary with their pads (and many aren't) it's disgusting.

Why not use a tampon AND a pad.... I always do... never really need the pad... but if there is an accidental leakage it doesn't matter.

That way its not as gross as a pad.... because you only get blood on you if you leak which isn't much.... but you also won't get blood on your clothes like if you were using just a tampon and it leaked.

I don't really understand why anyone would ever wear a pad as their primary 'feminine product'. They're gross. It's like sitting in a diaper filled with soppy blood and discharge. What's the problem if you get the thin pads and change them often enough? If you have a light flow, you're not sitting in blood, never found them to be uncomfortable and I've managed to wear skin tight clothing without it showing.

I usually don't get bloodstains on my clothes, so I'm not sure if it will come out or not. If it doesn't, I'll blame it on the washer.

Dont know about menstrual blood, but soaking clothes with *normal* blood on in salty hot water for a while seems to get out most if not all of the bloodstains.
I know it would go against logical thinking perhaps but white clothes are best for this because if you get blood on them you can just bleach the fuck out of them.

Maybe try tampons one size up, and if you're still worried, try wearing a little pantyliner as well. You can get extremely discreet ones.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come of as judgmental or anything. I just find them very unfavorable for my own use, and I think I've been turned off them as a result of using school washrooms and observing how poor pad-related hygiene tends to be with girls my own age.
