| Better Living Through Chemistry Discussions of any and all sorts of mind-warping chemicals, pills, booze, mind machines, trippy stuff, current street prices, importing pharmaceuticals, smart drugs, nutrients, herbs, and altered states. Please try to keep your conversations "theoretical" in nature, since this is an open conference. |

Finding certain chemicals (not illegal ones)
I need to know where to find the following:
Lye (granulated NaOH)
Naptha, get VM+P and not lighter fluid
10% ammonia solution, e.g. "janitorial strength"
I can't find any of these things this specifically at stores in my area. I tried Home Depot and a few other stores but does anyone know any products that contain strictly these separate ingredients that I can find at the store?
Stay safe,
Bos

Re: Finding certain chemicals (not illegal ones)
1. Make it. Electrolysis of NaCl, pyrolysis of NaHCO3, leaching and recrystallziation of wood ash, whatever.
2. 'naptha' doesn't exactly have a clear chemical definition, so you'll have to be more specific.
3. Manufacture NH3 from urine fermentation, distill into HCl, precipitate ammonium chloride, swap the base to liberate ammonia gas and titrate with an appropriate amount of water for the solution you desire. Please note that you can kill yourself doing this.

Make sure to buy a couple boxes of sudafed so the clerk doesn't get suspicious. 'n pay by credit card, so you can use chargebacks in case you get the wrong product.

HA HA HA.....
you should be able to order all those things online without suspicion if im not mistaken.
use some other non polar solvent, if case be it.

1. Make it. Electrolysis of NaCl
if you use an aqueous solution
you will just get Cl2(g) O2(g) H2(g)......i dont see unless you split it into 2 separate aq. columns....
could you please elaborate how to make NaOH from NaCl...

Re: Finding certain chemicals (not illegal ones)

You need a cathoda, an anode, a partially permeable membrane, an electricity supply, and some NaCl.
Electricity splits the NaCl into Na+ and Cl- ions, Cl- goes to Cl2 at the anode (?) [I always forget which is positive and which is negative] and the Na+ reacts with OH-'s which are floating around at the cathode to form NaOH.
... or something like that, I did it in college a couple of months ago, this is just off the top of my head without looking it up.

Re: Finding certain chemicals (not illegal ones)
thanks for clearing it up :)
I should of know that myself tho :(
I guess I was too lazy to check the standard reductions potential table.

in a pinch, goof off can be substituted for naptha. it is a 50/50 mixture of toluene and xylene, which IMO are better non polar solvents than naptha. you can use them interchangeably, unless you need only naptha and nothing else for the job you're doing. but from your post, i suspect that is not the case.
lye is always at the hardware store. ammonia too.
have fun with your meth or DMT

You can find those items right by the red phosphorous on sale in the fertilizer department of Home Depot.

Re: Finding certain chemicals (not illegal ones)
Heptane, if you can find it, is far, far, far, far, far superior to cheap naphtha. In fact, in my experiences its a better NP than solvent grade naphtha.

Re: Finding certain chemicals (not illegal ones)
I can't think of 3 chemicals easier to find in retail stores. Learn how to read MSDS's and go to commercial supply places that let you see right to know data.

Now, I'm no chemist, but could you electrolyse NaHCO3 to get NaOH?

Cathode, negative where oxidation takes place
Anode, positive where red takes plaise

All of those can be found in Ace hardware stores. Enjoy your DMT.

Re: Finding certain chemicals (not illegal ones)
Cathodes are positively charged, and reduction takes place at them...
Anodes are negative and oxidation takes place there

I wonder what you would need those for...
Illegal Chemicals, perhaps?
