So I woke up to a phone call...
...friend had a flat tire. She's small, and weak...and probably didn't know how to do it.
I ended up agreeing to come change her tire. Called her back right before I left, a tow truck was coming to take her to a tire store (it took real fucking effort not to laugh at this). Anyways, she started complaining about how she couldn't get a hold of her boyfriend to help her out, and she told me her dad was yelling at her for having a shitty boyfriend, etc. She was really pissed off...voice raised, deepened, and quickened.
It hit me, then, a question I thought better not to ask, "Why are you with such a failure?"
Then I thought to myself afterwards, having not asked this question, "Why do I associate with someone who is so blind to the ramifications of their own actions as to actually want such a failure in their life?"
Then I thought, "Maybe I'm a bit more of a failure than I like to believe for having her as a friend."
But reality came back, "Nah, that isn't it. I'm too fucking awesome for that to be the situation. She just needs to learn a few lessons about making better decisions for herself. So long as I don't turn into her emotional punching bag, it's okay that she's a failure at caring for herself. After all, she needs a positive example."
Am I in the right here? Of course I am.

Re: So I woke up to a phone call...
Yeah, but now her boytoy has the additional descriptor of 'lazy'. So now: Lazy, jealous, asshole.
Hahaha...when the rose colored glasses break, she's going to cry. I feel a little empathy for her; I had to learn it the hard way too. You don't ever forget the lessons learned the hard way, though.
It's kind of amusing to watch from a distance. It's like, "Okay, next on the natural order of business is 'this'...wait for it...wait for it...THERE IT IS!" (A good laugh ensues)

Re: So I woke up to a phone call...
You already are a punching bag. If not emotionally, you have to drag your ass out of bed in the wee hours of the morning and change a tire. That's quite gay unless you're getting some head in return.
I stopped caring about the boyfriend a long time ago. One picked up as I was calling his girlfriend to chill on tuesday. He told me to stop seeing her. I told him to fuck off and put her on the phone. It made me feel good. Didn't get laid tuesday though :(

Helping a friend doesn't make you an emotional punching bag. Unless it is a regular occurrence.

He: Does things for her, like changing her tire. Gets nothing in return.
Boyfriend: Doesn't do things for her. Gets sex in return.
How is he not a punching bag?

Re: So I woke up to a phone call...
I love those pathetic weak little females that allways need a guy (not even her own) to come and rescue her. It makes the rest of us look not so bad.
I really dont mean this in a rude way, but why do you tolerate her? Is she actually a really good friend when she's not using you as the emotional tampon?
I figure every friend has a redeeming feature, you should think of hers and see if they cancell out her bad shit?

I live in a rich, upper-middle class suburbia. What kind of girls do you think I meet for the most part? Only the "fuck-ups" know anything about real life.
Watching some wigger in FUBU-like clothing getting mugged in the Tenderloin made my day.

Whats wrong with having a female friend? You don't have to fuck everything.

There's nothing wrong with having female friends, but there is something wrong with letting someone walk all over you, and that's exactly what he is doing. He buys her groceries, he helps her when she gets a flat tire, he comforts her when her boyfriend is being an asshole, but what does he get in return? Absolutely nothing.

I must have missed some older threads or something, but helping a friend with a flat tire, or comforting them isn't something I would equate with being an emotional punching bag.

A lot of girls do not think consciously and only see their personal gain rather than having a mutual friendship.
Guys like Hex are so attention starved hes willing to not receive anything and hope that something will come out of him "helping". You have to really break it down and find worth in yourself and not look for it from other people. Especially girls who have you wrapped around their finger using you as their "amazing friend" and using everything to its fullest extent to help improve their own self-esteem. This is where you take the stereotypical "nice guy" term and run with it as you slowly wither away back to the bottom.
Don't let anyone control you dude. You think you are gaining from personal satisfaction but come on. Doesn't it get a little shitty feeling like everything is one sided? You are literally making your own self value worthless because you only give and never receive and accept that.

that is awesome
But on topic.
I don't think helping a girl change a tire is wrong, but you can do it for the wrong reasons.
Doing it to get laid is basically letting her walk all over you, since she's using her magical pussy to control you.
Doing it just to help out a friend is just cool.
As a rule of thumb, I always ask myself "would I take this from an ugly chick?"
Good looks don't entitle them to preferential treatment, decent behaviour does.

He does basically everything for this girl that her boyfriend should do, but doesn't. He buys her groceries when she decides that getting her cat spayed is more important than eating, he fixes her flat tire when her boyfriend won't, he's there for her when she wants to bitch about her boyfriend, etc...
I'm sure it's not just a one way relationship, but Hex is making it out to be one. What exactly does she do for him? I don't know, but I doubt that it's enough to make their relationship a fair/even one.

Well, I more thought of it as: next on the natural order of business is "Hex fucks this chick and finally ruins her relationship completely... wait for it... wait for it..."
:p :D But I will admit it sounds like the boyfriend is kind of doing it to himself. Perhaps I was too hasty to judge. It's just surprising to see someone doing all these sorts of things without an ulterior motive.
But if you end up secksing her, you owe me a dollar.

I assume because he referred to her as a friend, that there is something coming back. if not, then she's a bad friend. Gender shouldn't play a part.
