Today I got a civil infraction (in Ann Arbor) for marijuana possession, but my school also suspended me for a day.

Could they report this to the college and would they likely withdraw admission?

I guess that's just what clicked in my head and made me re-think how serious the laws there really were.

I mean, I've been busted with weed, but it's only been taken away. I've never gotten anything but a warning and generally a polite one. I've even been told to hurry up and finish then not to hang around because it "isn't that late out and it is a public park, kids could still come to play", the conversation ended with the cop saying "Have a good night and stay safe" like some cliche movie.

It really all depends on the school. Since it's in Mass they might be a bit more liberal towards it. But if it goes on your record they're probly going to hear about it. Most schools won't want some close-eyed stoner causing a ruckus in their university.

When you apply to college (and for most jobs) they ask you to state if you have been arrested at anytime--whether it was for a misdeamnor or felony (unless it was expunged from your record). I don't think they will deny you admission though, since you were already admitted.

If you're getting suspended from school then you're college might find out (although I doubt they will decline your $20000). However I think it is complete bullshit that you're being suspended from school and if your parents had any sense in them they would fight that shit.

But you were still suspended. Usually, if you violate drug policy at school, and are suspended, the school contacts your college. However, you only got suspended for a day - which isn't the norm for drugs on school property. So, that may just be a "slap on the wrist" and it won't go on your record. In that case, your colleges won't be notified.

There was a kid a couple years ago who was caught smoking weed on school property. He had already got into a decent southern school (mind you drug policy/laws are more conservative/strict in the south). And his admission was revoked. If you fuck up (i.e. suspension for drugs/weapons/whatever) after you get in, they can revoke your admission.

Based on the fact that it didn't happen on school property and you only received a 1 day suspension, I doubt Emerson was contacted.

To be sure, ask your college counselor. He/She'll know for sure.

you most likely got suspended if it happened in your local area because face it, if they didn't they look bad, don't hold it against them. they may see you got suspended but most likely not why. your final transcript won't say why, just a number total of your high school career. [like absences, tardies, and dismassals as well.]

Here in Toronto I see kids smoking Weed all around campus. Campus police generally tells you to get off school property, at which point the cops tell you to snuff it.

I'd say a good 10% of the school population is bi-weekly weed smokers, and at least 50% smoke "sometimes".

in Mass. there are mandatory minimum sentences for MJ possession, a term of 6 month. For your first possession in any amount.

When someone is convicted of an offense punishable by a mandatory minimum sentence, the judge must sentence the defendant to the mandatory minimum sentence or to a higher sentence. The judge has no power to sentence the defendant to less time than the mandatory minimum. A prisoner serving an MMS for a federal offense and for most state offenses will not be eligible for parole. Even peaceful marijuana smokers sentenced to "life MMS" must serve a life sentence with no chance of parole.

Possession of any amount of marijuana is punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $500. For first time offenders, the court will sentence the offender to probation and upon successful completion of the probation period, the offender's record will be sealed.

I got an OMVUII (Weed) and I got taken down to the station in cuffs, even though my driving wasn't impaired, it was cause I was speeding, then the cop saw my eyes.. they were fucking red.

But to the op, i have a feeling if the school you're going denied admission to everyone who had a minor marijuana charge then they wouldn't make any money. They only thing you should worry about is getting your fafsa taken away.
