WASHINGTON (CNN) -- About 100 people, including students majoring in homeland security and criminal justice, were arrested Tuesday in an undercover drug sting at San Diego State University, officials said.
Among those arrested, 75 were students, one of them a criminal justice major charged with possession of guns and cocaine, authorities said. One student allegedly dealing cocaine was a month short of obtaining a master's degree in homeland security at the California school and worked under campus police as a student community service officer.

Campus police initiated the investigation about a year ago, after a student's fatal overdose in May 2007, university President Steve Weber said. About five months ago, as the investigation evolved, campus police sought and received help from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

VANCOUVER — The Canada Border Services Agency and RCMP are not counting their latest drug bust at the Port of Vancouver in kilograms, they’re counting it in tonnes.

Investigators say a shipment of 78 barrels of sodium hydroxide arriving in a shipment from China actually turned out to contain 3.7 tonnes of MDP2P, the main ingredient used in the production of Ecstasy.

The bust was made Monday as officers acted on suspicions raised early last month about the incoming shipment.

Supt. Carl Busson, the officer in charge of the RCMP drug enforcement branch in B.C., says the chemical is likely linked to organized crime and criminal groups.

No arrests have been made but Busson predicts the bust will have a significant impact on illegal drug activity.


Officials estimate the chemical could have produced 30 million doses of Ecstasy."

I live in a small suburban town south of Chicago, and our police force has their own DEA agent. Some dumbass got busted with 1000 hits of assorted RCs, and ever since then it's been hell. Six or seven houses have been raided since, mainly for rolls and blow. But two of my friends have had their houses raided for less than a QP of nugget. It's ridiculous.

My roommate lived in the largest of the non-fraternity houses that were busted. If you watch the video on CNN, he's the first one to get led out in cuffs.

I go to SDSU, and most of the students here are still pretty livid, not only because it was a waste, but it also has pretty much made our degrees worth shit.

I knew a lot of the guys that got busted (shit, everyone who smokes did) and if you think the undercover agents are easy to spot, you've got another thing coming. I hung out with two of them, and at the time they seemed like any other student here. I just wasn't stupid enough to try a befriend random assholes who show up to house parties. When you go to a school like SDSU, people get lulled (lol) into a false sense of security because so many people smoke and do drugs.

Oh, and to clear the facts up, that 77 student figure was actually only 14 or so. The rest were arrested during routine police work earlier in the year. All because some dumbshit greeks overdosed on coke back last May of 07. The DEA wasn't looking for weed, but coke. They just happened to find it while they busted suspected coke dealers.

I like how this whole thing is just drenched in anti-drug rhetoric. It's almost as if they think this LITTLE FUCKING BUST will keep us from getting high. Nope. The friends I have who were arrested for the biggest charges are all out on mild plea bargains and not a single one served any time in jail.

SDSU is nice. I took one helluva nap in their starbucks and woke up surrounded by people. I was all like, "gleeuh?"

Drugs are a culture and a movement, i only wish the government would learn just how much a waste this war on drugs is and how much the United States economy could benefit from legalization of some or all drugs.
