Marijuana Cooking for One
I was trying to think of something that I could cook marijuana into without resorting to such large recipes I've seen across the internet. All I want is to make enough of something to last for one or 2 days, rather than an entire batch of pot brownies. I was considering making bhang but I'm just not sure what would be the best thing to make. Any thoughts?

Re: Marijuana Cooking for One
It's harder to extract THC in small amounts because it's easy to burn things in small quantities. The foolproof weed recipe is to make cannabutter first, and put that on other food. If you're using about 5 grams, get a stick of butter and melt it in a small pot. Keep the oven on very low low heat, and watch it carefully for 1-2 hours. You can turn the heat up, but if it starts to bubble and boil, take it off the heat and turn it down. After it's a good green color, you can either freeze the butter so you can use it later or put it on something like toast immediately.
It's a lot of effort for one person, and you're probably much better off smoking it and cooking something without weed. :)

Re: Marijuana Cooking for One
I read about making cannabutter in a crockpot and letting it sit in there for a few hours. How well would that technique work? My crockpot has a high, low, and keep warm setting so I was thinking letting it hang out in there for a few hours on the keep warm setting after it has heated up. I'm going to grind the bud up quite fine although i might end up using more than 5 grams for the stick of butter.

Re: Marijuana Cooking for One
I'm very interested in this crock pot method. I have a crock pot, but I don't have an oven or a stove, so the traditional cannabutter method wouln't work for me. I don't really want to try it unless I know its going to work.

Re: Marijuana Cooking for One
From what I read, low temperatures for long periods of time is the best way to make cannabutter. A crockpot is perfect for this but I'm not really sure about it. Maybe someone here has tried it.

Re: Marijuana Cooking for One
That would work perfectly! I would check up on the butter to make sure it's not burning every hour or so. Also, butter can separate and make clarified butter (butter without fat) when heated for a long time, so you should probably stir it. Or else the fat solids that hold the THC will solidify and become kind of nasty to eat.
Heated fat + weed = extracted thc. You can get as creative as you want, keeping that in mind.

Re: Marijuana Cooking for One
Would clarifying the butter first help or hurt in anyway?

Re: Marijuana Cooking for One
Definitely clarify first.
But you don't even need to make butter. Just grind up a gram or so and make grilled cheese. Put the pot between 2 pieces of cheese and cook on low. It takes about 20 minutes to cook, but it's very effective. Kind of like a less-ghetto Leary Biscuit.

Re: Marijuana Cooking for One
I could, but it seems the sprinkle and cook method is very hit or miss. Thats why letting it simmer very softly in butter gets all the magic out without destroying any of it. Much more reliable in my eyes.

Re: Marijuana Cooking for One
It's not hit or miss if you cook it on low. Most people see it getting hot and not browning and crank up the heat. This is a mistake. I've used this method countles times and it's always worked.
If butter's really what you want, though, then by all means go for it. It's much more versatile anyway.

Re: Marijuana Cooking for One
How does the smell compare with the various methods of cooking (cannabutter vs leary biscuits vs sprinkle 'n cook)?

Re: Marijuana Cooking for One
Butter or Brownie methods will produce a lingering smell that is easily identified. Leary biscuits leave a brief smell in the microwave, but the high is very mild in my experience. Grilled cheese method isn't so bad, because it's trapped inside, but it does smell like weed in the kitchen for a little bit.
Leary biscuits are the most concealable, convenient and quickest method, but like I said, it's mild. You need a good quality fatty cheese, not Kraft shit. Cook it on very low power for 1-2 minutes, until the cheese has melted all over the weed. The cheese tends to melt and fall off the sides of the cracker if you cook it too quickly, so make sure you keep it on a plate and put some spare crackers underneath the main one.

Re: Marijuana Cooking for One
Weed cheese toastie FTW. I made one using a gram, cooked it in a George Foreman for about 5 minutes, and got fucking ripped. Hides the taste pretty well too.

Re: Marijuana Cooking for One
Firecrackers. All you need is a gram, split it between 4 crackers(1/4) on each, eat them all and I guarentee you'll feel it. Look up Leary Biscuit.
