I like to boil my pipes myself. If you can get a paper clip and scrape it around while it's still in the hot water, the resin comes out very easily. Or you can soak it in rubbing alcohol and salt, make sure you shake it every now and then.
I've also heard orange glow (y'know, the shit Billy Mays sells on tv along w/ oxyclean) works pretty well, but if you don't rinse it out well enough it leaves an orangey taste when you smoke out of it.

With all my glass pipes and bongs, rubbing alcohol and salt work great. Just pour some rubbing alcohol in and get some salt too and shake it up a bit and then just leave it to sit for a bit. Rinse it with hot water and it looks like new

Seriously, if you havent cleaned it in a while you arent gunna get it sparkly clean with any of the methods above, especially if the holes in it are small.
Just spend the $7 or whatever and you can thank me later.

if you boil it, don't use one of your parents pots, it will ruin it. or use an old shitty one they won't miss. not the brand-new tempered aluminum t-fals.

You can clean a pot coated with resin pretty easily. I use a dryer sheet with a bit of kitchen de-greaser. Comes right off.
