what acid did for you, in the long run
now everyone knows that acid changes something in you when you do it, most people can't put there finger on it, but what it did for me was completly change my thought process, I look way too far into things now, but it helps me understand things, and if I can't figure it out or draw my own theory from it, I'll look it up on the Internet, so I guess it made me smarter, but I have a friend who swears it didn't change her at all. But the major change for me came not right after but a couple weeks after, I wouldnt say it was a change for the better, but not for the worse either, just themore annoying I guess, also sometimes now I get caught in these thought loops and find myself spacing out.

Well, it wasn't just acid, but hallucinogens in general made me start practicing something between Taoism and Buddhism.

I don't think it does too much more than what a 12 hour session of introspective thinking does...

Re: what acid did for you, in the long run
they kinda made me look at my life and the world from the outside. (introspection). they also made me more in touch with nature, and acid gave me a huge desire to accomplish all i can and soak up knowledge. shrooms always make me think about space and creation.

Re: what acid did for you, in the long run
Before I did acid, I was never really able to sit by myself, alone in a room, and be completely happy. I would have to be talking to someone or doing something all the time, but now I can find joy in even the smallest things like washing dishes or walking down the street. Acid was my meditation, or the key to my unconscious mind.
I didn't consider zen buddhism until long after doing acid, but the feelings gained from it fit perfectly with the teachings of it. I haven't done cid in years, but the things gained from it stay with me today.

Re: what acid did for you, in the long run
I can't even begin to tell you. It did everything and nothing.
Everything because it brought me complete and total knowledge and showed me mysteries that most people will never see....
and nothing because it only lasted for a short while and I will have to work on myself to reach that place again.

"over thinking, over analyzing, separates the body from the mind" - tool
acid has taught me to use my brain to see things.
acid and shrooms taught me to appreciate/enjoy the beauty of nature (the beach kicks ass).
at the end of an acid trip i'm always motivated to do something i need to do in my life.

Re: what acid did for you, in the long run
Besides the ability to crawl into my own mind and throw out all the little things i do that i hate , i gained the ability to drift through reality with no shame or frustration.
I also like the activity of playing with anything and get joy out of it , or looking at everything from a cell perspective or a sky view.
It just made me whole with my surrondings. I really do feel one with everything even though its cliche. I just see a friend around every corner

Re: what acid did for you, in the long run
After an awsome acid trip and a reaAAAAAALY bad shroom trip mostly fueled by the fact that i call kps house and well...he was dead...im definatly effected. Recently i could obtain all these and i did. I did alot of them and then relized how pointless feel good drugs are. Idk they dont change you unless you want them to.
i cant realy tell you how they changed me because even though i think i have all the answers i dont. but i can say since those two very intense trips + more. I got my ged, im going to med school, ive been studying a mix of eastern philosophies and even sought the knoledge of christianity. ive never been as interested in my mortality as after those

I dont even care much for the tripping i mean yeah its incredible but I'm dropping acid for the following 9 hours of deep thought and confusion towards your own actions outside of the past 12 hours. The ability to pick apart all those walls you built and to totally sit down and transform yourself into your own idol. God i love lucy

Re: what acid did for you, in the long run
The first time I dropped acid was my introduction into psychedelia, and one of the first times I looked at myself objectively. I remember being disappointed, sitting on my couch watching the door change sizes and kind of glow, and thinking, "It's just another drug." disappointedly after all of the wonderful visions and revelations I'd had during the night. I changed my mind the next morning, and felt an immense motivational boost for a few days.
I did a much higher dose a week or two later, and it blew my head open. I was in a calm, perfect state for a long time, and got re-dosed that night with a couple friends at my house and watched the electric visuals for a few hours.
I'd comment on how these changed me more, but I think most of what they did was push me down the psychedelic path a little and got me away from the pharmecuticals and hard shit I had been playing with. All I'd ever really wanted to do was acid and mushrooms anyways, but all I could find was pot.
I ended up doing a lot of mescaline over the course of six months in the form of San Pedro cactus, usually eaten raw. I ended up tripping three or four times a week for a month or two. I came out of it with a few mental peculiarities that straightened themselves out.
I haven't touched anything hard in about four months, for lack of desire, and I'm not a judgmental know-it-all prick anymore. I resumed my studies of mysticism and meditation, and am actually making progress. I'm not angry and cynical and spiteful anymore, but I still have self-confidence and the ability to defend myself. I'm happy for once too, and getting ready to get into college.
I guess acid more started the chain than anything...

Re: what acid did for you, in the long run
To be honest, not much more than a few good nights.
I've taken acid twice, both times to no avail. No tripping at all. First time was strange because my two friends took about the same amount as me (1 3/4 tabs), and they were tripping the fuck out when we got into times square, where I was just feeling a slight, tiny bit different. I had to smoke a blunt in central park in order to feel different; even after that, it was only an uppity high, not a trip.
Second time was here in SD. My friend has a couple of sheets of timothy leary blotter, as well as a sheet of snow white getting raped by the 7 dwarfs, and he sold me three tabs for $5. My roommate took 5 tabs. Once again, I didnt trip. Neither did my roomie. I believe this batch to either be too old, or just not stored correctly.
I've taken shrooms on multiple occasions, but those to me just make the day/night super fun. They don't give me spiritual enlightenment, nor do they make me go deep into myself and come out with realizations about my life. They just make the things I look at fun to look at, and change my perspective as well as give me a really good feeling.
Now, I would LIKE to have an experience that would actually affect me, in regards to everything that people take away from these drugs, but it just hasn't happened yet.

Re: what acid did for you, in the long run
In my opinion the 'enlightenment' derived from acid and hallucinogens is from the fact that they lock you into doing little more than sitting around and thinking all day with very good memory recall...
All of the 'change' that occurs is shit you already knew you needed to do...
And rhetoric will change your thinking a lot more than dope...

Re: what acid did for you, in the long run
before i started using drugs i was depressed. pot helped but it was still there, but the pot kept me from putting a bullet through my head. eventually i tried acid. I walked out of my friends house that morning with a new outlook on my life. For once i was happy to be alive instead of thinking i would be better off dead. its been months since that first trip, but i find that i can find happiness in just about anything now.

In the long run, it didnt do shit for me but give me good memories. Some say that acid is a life altering expereince. I think finding god is a life altering experience. Tripping is just tripping. I bet you could learn a lot more from school then you can a couple hits of acid.

They're the same thing.

I bet I'm living proof of the opposite.

Word. I learned more from acid then I did my entire school life. And that was just the first, 12 hour trip.

sure, but acid isn't the really what taught you that, the near death feeling acid produces did. there are a hell of a lot realer ways to feel that, and if acid's the first time you felt that you must lead a boring and sheltered life. if that's the case go find some adrenaline based hobbies, they have a hell of a lot more to offer than drugs...
yes, I am encouraging you to do dangerous stuff. build a mountain bike and ride your ghetto death machine in the woods, learn to fall trees, work on a car and drive it fast as fuck. do stuff, take risks, then lay around and do drugs...
not that I'm talking shit about acid, but acid's not a substitute for life experience. it is a cool thing to do every now and then, but it probably isn't as insightful as it feels. you should put living way in front of tripping and save the acid for days when there ain't shit to do...

Re: what acid did for you, in the long run
In between the bouts of violent mindfuckery, I just started thinking about how much I needed to get my act together and start now to improve anything that I needed to improve in my life. I got my ass in gear.
Since the trip, I've been more proactive, outgoing, and a little more confident.

Re: what acid did for you, in the long run
I want to do acid, but with shrooms and ketamine (So many fucking times) I've realized what they did to me.
They let me take a step back and look at the painting.
Then to swim through each brush stroke.
After that it was up to me to do what I did with the perspectives I experienced during the trips. I had many spiritual experiences and I got to re-experience the unfiltered mind of my inner child.
I had been a lucid dreamer for years and was very much into nature since a tiny child and I think that helped transition me into these perspectives.
I think the biggest changes took place in between the trips and in a sense they were much more powerful emotionally and spiritually.
Like sitting at the edge of the river near my house and all of a sudden being nothing but everything, knowing nothing was different from what I would have previously called "me" and "the frog" on "the rock". I was never the same after that.
There were a few times like this, one of them I got laughed at for the tears, of happiness, on my face in a science classroom when I was looking at bacterium in a microscope. Nothing could ever be more beautiful, then that one little living thing but the point was again that nothing could be more beautiful because everything is the same. I never gave an explanation for the tears, it didn't bug me.
Now I glow at the sign of any life, from grass and trees to the bacterium in that microscope. I'm much less depressed on an ongoing basis, no longer take my anti-depressants or lithium and am doing great (Though I am on Adderall), and I stay away from pretty much every drug other then dissociative and psychedelic drugs.
Everything life changing really was just me experiencing things while sober and being able to link those feeling to the similar feelings on the drugs.
In summary: Because of my own doing, I am now much more spiritual, happy, aware, thoughtful, appreciative of all forms of life and can now see the big picture anytime I want really (Does not = experience the big picture, that's rare).

Everything.
I really mean it.
I don't consider my life pre-LSD as 'living'. I thought I'd explored everything, and knew myself, until I took the chance to break down the frosted-glass window of my own existence and see what was really going on just on the other side.
LSD is the closest thing to 'God' there is.

Re: what acid did for you, in the long run
I haven't done acid, but have done shrooms. For me I can't explain given the limited ways of expressing oneself as to what went on in my head. I wrote a lot down (on Totse as a matter of fact) I'll have to check them.
It made me stop caring what people thought of me, and I got to see what I am like from an out of body point of view.
