Yes, mushrooms grow in the wild. However, a novice should never go picking alone. Find someone who's more experienced to help you or something. Or grow your own, it's fairly easy, especially if you're living alone. You can get the spore prints online in almost all states legally.

If you screw up and eat the wrong mushrooms, you can possibly die.
