shroom hunting
ok guys, so me and my friend were bored off are asses. We were tired of smoking tree all day and got a wild hair up are ass to go shroom hunting tonight. We went out to some small farm pasture about 10 mins away. He said he had found shrooms there previously.
Now from what he told me is that the shrooms when you hold a light over them they have a ring on the top of them, he said that's how you know there the right ones. Which leads me to believe there Psilocybe cubensis, that he's talking about.
Well we went out to the cow pasture, it was relatively cold tonight, and damp as well, we saw some fog driving around. We however located no shrooms, but saw numerous fresh cow patties.
My friend claims that these shrooms only grow at night, and they "die" during the day. He said that they magically sprout and appear at night in about 2-3 hours and that come day time they die. I don't think this is correct? If there were shrooms growing there, they would still be there alive during the day correct?
Any tips for me? I have never done shrooms because noone around here has anything besides pot and coke and x, and random script pills.
I plan on going back out tomorrow night with a actual flashlight vs just my phone. Any advice on what to look for or like should i go after it rains, or what? It just rained where i live like day before last so we figured there might have been some out.

Re: shroom hunting
To accurately identify a strain you need the spore print of it, as well as a large number of distinguishing features about the mushroom, to compare to info on others, and even that isn't enough to be totally sure and safe.
On a side note, Ehrlich reagent can be used to test for the presence of psilocybin, but it still will not determine if it is safe to eat or not, there are many psilocybin, and psilocin containing fungi that are also toxic.

Re: shroom hunting
Pick what you can find , lay them out and get a spore print , thats rule one. Ditch the most likely harmful ones with no benefits and with some luck you may have a batch of liberty caps
Basic indicators to look for are nipple-esc caps and if you rub it, it will bruise purple but dont go by one little thing these are just flags , shrooms come in many shapes and sizes and shit gets misleading most of the time
