More of a curiosity thread than anything else, but how does a pill press function? the kind that uses binders, not gelcaps. Easy to DIY? any technical explanations? Will expand on question in a bit....

It works like a BP press does, except with pill shaped molds.

I heard you can use a pollen press to press pills intoa larger form then cut them down from that,

Or you can use methods people se of re rocking coke, which involves coke ( or whatever your pressng ), fillers, and copious amounts of force.

ebay has small "Vitamin Press" things, no idea on how good they work, the job of pressing a lot of pills seems like a tedicious ordeal with it though, and I doubt it presses well either, if I ever used one I'd make sure said mix was damp then let it dry to get a more condensed final product.

we have 2 non-idiots, now so this thread has some use let me details you on how i would press pills if i wanted/had to (note: non of the diagrams are mine):

How to press-pills (stolen from somewhere, can't recall, but i can vouch for that if works):

1. BUY A REAL DIE SET. These are about $150 to $200 and can be found for sale on google. Find a DIE SET with the mm. size you want and desired logo/stamp/press/picture to be on your tablets.
These come with two dies, the logo, botom, and centerpiece.

2. My favorite binder that produces the hardest shiniest cleanest looking pills is CAFFIENE. Order, or buy some. It's cheap. Usually I can get 1 lb. of pure powder for $50 USD,

3. Here's the SIMPLE magic... READY??? A table-top vise! Yep, It's Stupifying if you've gone through all the trouble, but now you know. Buy a heavy duty table vise.

4. Put the bottom die piece into the very bottom of the centerpiece, and fill the centerpiece with the desired mix and fill the center up to the top with the mix.

5. While holding the bottom, and centerpiece, put the top die set/logo into the center and apply some preasure. Now you have your rig set up it just needs that 1000lbs. of preasure.

6. While holding it sideways, put it into the vise, and start twisting that vise.

7. Release the vise pressure, and pull the TOP die out. Now you need to push the compacted tablet out of the centerpiece. To do this put it back in the vise with the bottom die being pressed from one side and centerpiece being pressed from the other. this will push the bottom die into the pill and force it out.
