this coming weekend i will be preparing two 18" cuttings of san pedro, one for me, one for a friend. my question is, what are some peoples experiences with different preparations, and which one seems to work the best?

i have had plenty of experience with lsd/salvia/mushrooms/lsa/etc. and i do not take these types of things to "get fucked up"

The taste is... indescribable.

Try imagining what an 80 year olds unwashed vagina complete with hardcore yeast infection would taste like, and you're still not close.

haha i am prepared to deal with disgusting taste, but if there is a method that makes it taste not-so shitty that would be nice.

I don't think you are prepared as you think you are. It's beyond taste. If you do the extract, it's like drinking something that is so bitter it sucks all of the water out of your throat. It is fucking disgusting.

And they dry grainy hard bitter lumps that stick in your throat as you try and choke it down... I feel seriously sick just thinking about it.

That was 1oz, dried powdered and sieved then mixed with 500ml of fresh yohogert (stops it swelling, already bitter taste) Thing is it didn't mix well and there were huge hidden dry pockets of cactus material just waiting to hit my tongue and then scratch their way down my throat

The trip was amazing, really good CEVs, OEVs, Tracers and felt really good yet controllable and able to hold a decent conversation without people telling I was tripping. Very little pupil dilation compared to drugs such as LSD.

After eating I started to feel effects after I threw up (T+3h) By the time I was at my friends I was peaking, colours were wonderful everything was melting and swirling and I was having a great time walking up the high street trying to to step on the cracks (My sober friend said I looked like a compete nutter)

Peaked at about T +6

Effects started to wear off at about T + 12
I was up to my waist in a freezing cold river trying to work as a team netting carp whilst still tripping although it was no longer fun and more than strong enough to make my job very difficult.

Also had the taste of cactus in my mouth and back of throat with a really dry rough feeling and no way of getting rid of it (brushed my teeth about 10 times over the two days)

Pretty harsh body load, very uncomfortable to lie down.

If it wasn't for the horrible taste texture of dried cactus I would happily do it again. Maybe il do an extraction next time

i can take the taste. i say this without having tried it, but i have drank kratom tea many of times, and that sucks the moisture out of your throat also. i am not worried about taste, truthfully, because i have one of the strongest stomaches out of people i know. what i would like is some recommendations (preferably explain the process) on some preparations. help is appreciated.

Would it be more user-friendly to just make a shit load of capsules from powder? I mean, I have no problem slugging down a few dozen pills 2 at a time... so long as the end result is worth it.

yes, if the user has a capping machine.

you will need 30g as the base dose for pedro/torch and ideally another 50 for backup. a common 00 cap will hold .33g on average of unpacked powder of most substances. 30g / .33 = 90 capsules, or literally a shitload of caps and definitely way more than a few dozen. you'll likely end up needing well over 100 total for a decent trip

I think you would still smell it though, wouldn't you? I've never tried it but it does sound promising but olfactory senses make up a great deal of what we perceive as taste (hence food loosing its flavor when you have a cold).

Alternatively, just take the ground-up plant matter and soak it in methanol, let it sit for three days, subjecting it to occasional mixing.. Filter out the liquid and save the plant matter for another extraction. Leave for two days. During these two days, have your filtrate in a casserole dish under a light, receiving an air current provided by a cheap desk fan. This should be mostly dry after one day and by day two you're good to drop your next batch of filtrate in the casserole pan (on top of the existing gunk). Once again, fill the vessel containing the cacti powder (I've used an empty wine bottle) with fresh methanol and let sit for another two days. Keep your methanol under the lamp and allow it to dry, then dump the final batch of filtrate in and allow the mess to dry for at least two days within close proximity to the light bulb and fan.

This will leave you, presumably, with the alkaloids of the cactus, with mescaline being one. Also, pending the type of cactus, I think I remember reading that in a particular species of cactus, one (some?) of the isoquinolines contained therein was an MAOI, thus increasing the potency of the mescaline. I'm not sure how reliable that source was, though.

Regardless, a (relatively) small amount of gunk should be a shit load easier to swallow than 100 capsules of powder or death flavored snot.

I'm pretty sure the nonpolar is for defatting, so you can omit and just have more crude product to swallow. This leads me to think you can just use Everclear, or methanol, to do a crude extraction.

I'd rather just B/A, 'cause A/Bing, in that order, might not work. ;)

I really think the best way is to do an extraction to reduce the amount of material, and then put that material in capsules so you don't have to taste it.

I had pretty mild but nice effects with 4 capsules of a very crude extract (using iso alcohol) of Peruvian torch powder. If I had defatted before doing the iso extract, then I could have used more powder and still only swallowed maybe 10 capsules to have a profoundly awesome evening.

if you do this you can spare yourself the effort of evapping toxic and flammable shit for 3 days, and also the cost of $15 everclear when a pound of lye only costs $2 and $6 for a pint of hcl from the same store

I would say make it into capsules for sure if you can. Trust us, the taste is like satan's asshole.
