I've had strep throat for the past week, got an antibiotic that didn't work. I went back to the doctor a couple days ago to find out I still have strep plus a ruptured folicle on my tonsil. I got a new antibiotic plus a pain killer (the tramadol).

My problem is my throat hurts so bad I can't eat. It's not just the pain, I'm a big boy I can handle pain, but when I try to eat even soft food it hurts so bad it makes me nauseous so I can't eat anymore.

Now these pain pills don't seem to be working. I know other people have a lot more experience with pain killers than I do, so I was wondering if anyone had an idea how many a 200lb. guy should take. I tried taking 2 and it didn't do jack, should I just go up to 4, or would 3 be a lot more powerful then 2? I only got 7 (I figured 4 tonight 3 tomorrow) left so I can't really experiment to find the right amount. The antibiotics are doing wonder, just 1 day and I can move my neck and breathe without my throat hurting, so in another day I probably won't need the pain killers anyways.

Crush up the pill, put into a very strong tasting liquid. Drink liquid as quickly as possible, follow with a good tasting, even stronger drink. You could also try sublingual ingestion (hold the pill under your tongue)

yeah i would suggest at least 200mg for someone your size. last time i did tramadol i did 150mg and was left wanting more.

Just be careful of over-dosing, tramadol has been known to cause seizures :(

I believe if you take a dosage over 200mg the chance of seizure is increased. Having said that 200mg is a decent dose for someone with no tolerance. It is one of those drugs though that some people get nothing out of, and other people love it.

Yeah, I spent a couple of months taking it everyday; taking upto and eventually over 1000mg/day, while still being fully able and attended college everyday.. & I didn't have any problems :D

Although a close friend didn't have the same luck :(
