so i just got switched from 60mg prozac to 150mg wellbutrin because the prozac stopped working. i was looking up old wellbutrin threads, and nobody had anything good to say about it...is it fucking worthless and should i try to get on something else?

I think the stuff sucks. When I was prescribed it it made me twitch a lot - especially as I was falling to sleep - I don't know who that annoyed more, me or my GF at the time. And it just wasn't pleasent at all to be on.

Did prozac work for you? It did nothing for me, except potentiate my already horrible, horrible mood/mindset.

i was on 40mg prozac for about 7 months, and it worked really well. but lately it hasnt been working, so i got moved to 50, then 60, and since that didnt work now wellbutrin. but when the prozac was working it was ridiculous how much better my mood was

A friend of mine was on it for a while and had the usual apathy and overall dick-hole syndrome. That was really gay but there are some upsides such as the quitting smoking aspect. I personally think it's great for quitting smoking.

I never used to mind it when I was skadgy and needed to get fucked up. Railing it gave me enough of something to get by(thankfully I'm not like that anymore).

It seemed to help my stepmom with her depression.

alright here's my experience with wellbutrin

i was on it for about 2-3 years at 150mg. it did squat for my depression. it made me very impulsive, aggressive, and apathetic. i probably made a lot of mistakes in my life and did a lot of dumb shit because of it. whenever i smoked bud, i would get a lot more paranoid and it pretty much ruined weed for me. but im learning to love the chronic now <3. a couple months ago i got the dose increased to 300/mg/day. that was the beginning of the end. i was unable to concentrate, wicked bitchy and i kept getting these strange swooshing sensations in my head accompanied by a swishing noise in my ears. it wasn't a pleasant time. i pretty much lost all self control. after that, i dropped wellbutrin completely and switched to lexapro and am feeling much better.

oh and abuse.

i (foolishly) abused the shit outta wellbutrin. i would usually rail them and that would yield a twitchy, anxious, but stimulating five minute high. and a noserape after that. wellbutrin burns your nose like no other. i was tough so i learned to deal. for a couple weeks i snorted my alloted dose, a pill a day, until i started to get nosebleeds. so, i'm saying don't abuse it, but I know better, so you probably will.

if you get the XL preparation, which you probably will, the pills are small, white and read WELLBUTRIN XL 150. they have a thick time release coating which is INSOLUBLE IN WATER and has to be picked off with a knife or fingernails. after that, you can crush and sniff to your little heart's desire. oh, and if you inject upwards of a gram, it's been said to be very euphoric, even moreso than coke/speed. but, you gotta do an extraction and you gotta do it right or else, you're fucked. even then, i wouldn't put the shit in my arm. don't bother. really.

oh, and chemistry. if you take the drug every day, you should know a little about its chemistry. wellbutrin isnt structured like any other antidepressant. it acts mainly on the norepinephrine neurotransmitter (I THINK). it shares a very similar structure with methcathinone (khat, or cat) (which will get you pretty buzzed) but you can't synthesize methcathinone from bupropion or vice versa.

its VERY soluble in water, so you can dissolve in water, filter, and evaporate to make snorting a little more bearable.

but really, if you're depressed, give it a try. everybody is different and different people react differently to antidepressants. YOU have to find one that works for YOU. and don't expect any antidepressant to be a cure all happy pill. you really have to make changes in your life in addition to an antidepressant to overcome depression. if you don't do that, you're just fuckin wasting time with pills.

I used to rail it everynight before bed and I know the burn you're talking about. There is nothing I've ever snorted that has anything on that burn. It serves it's purpose recreationally but definately isn't all that 'fun'. Just kinda fucks you up. I find it's a similar type buzz to coke, in the feeling that is, not the euphoria. It definatley doens't come close pleasure wise though.
