What's the whole premis behind DMT in the brain?

I've heard it's a solid and it's just chillin somewhere.

I know some gets released when you croak, I beleive a little gets released when your sleeping, or falling asleep.

The production of dmt by the pineal gland was a theory put forward by Strassman in his book "DMT: The spirit molecule." No solid evidence exists to support this claim as yet, the pineal gland is an endocrine gland known only to release melatonin at this point in time.

N,N-Dimethyltryptamine: An endogenous hallucinogen by monti and christian barker. actually all sorts of resources say its found in the human body. according to the site below, what he hypothesized was where it was produced not that it was produced. although that might have been what you were saying too, it just wasnt clear.

Yeah, which is why I didn't say that it wasn't found in the human body, I was just covering the topic of the pineal gland before 12 other members come in here and start going on about a dmt dump from the pineal gland at death.

the amount present is extremely low and if you consider it takes at least 20 mgs of administered DMT for the person to even begin to feel effects, and the natural amount is less than that, then this whole thing starts sounding very unexciting. Think each dollar bill floating around likely has trace amounts of dozens of drugs, and your brain is just the same way.



I think what dmt released upon death would be insignificant. the pineal gland has no way to excrete the 50/+ mgs of dmt before your brain dies. it could excrete some, if the entire dmt neurochemical theory even holds true, but i think you'd feel more effect when your neurons are dying than what you'd feel from the dmt release.
