Default managing addiction to amphetamines (adderall)

I know this is kinda lame...but SWIM just realized that his addiction to adderall is a lot more harmful and dangerous than he had previously thought. I'm not going to go into detail, but something happened that made swim do some more internet research about amphetamine addiction, and well, i exhibit some of the bad symptoms...schizophrenic tendencies, delusional, massive weight loss and other....

well i decided i pretty much have to stop abusing it....but I don't know if i can function well without taking it at all. I have ADD bad, and adderall really helps me get some shit done...but when i take too mcuh it has the opposite effect, but i do it anyway...

do you think its possible for someone who abused the hell out of adderall to go to just taking it in a reasonable dose throughout the day to get work done? or is this sort of thing best handled by completely stopping? I can't completely cut it out of my life for about a month....I have finals and shit for my last semester of college, and I need to do well. so im going ot hold off until then. but i need to figure this out for after graduation.

Amphetamine most certainly isn't gay, and is actually a great drug, though not in the sense you are thinking of, i.e. getting fuxxored.

Not everything in life is about getting high.

No, I don't think moderaters can infract you for making fun of them. They can infract you for other shit that they normally wouldn't have, but not for directly talking shit.

All of my docters told me strattera doesn't do anything, but they just might be saying that so I buy adderall.

And SN I'll send you 2c-e to ban stuggling faggot's IP address.

try to get some MPH, Methylphenidate, it will give you your focus without the great addiction potential of amps. Good luck man, My friend just got off a 2 week adderall binge, He only got to sleep like 6 days outa 14

Not everything in life is about getting high.

This is the most intelligent thing I have read on TOTSE all day. It was worth it to quit lurking, just so I could say: QFT. I mean, if the universal goal of drug use was simply variations on that theme ("getting fuxxored"), why would people do meth? Or abuse Adderall for that matter? Amphetamines and their isomers can fuck you up in a big way, but users use for a reason.

try to get some MPH, Methylphenidate, it will give you your focus without the great addiction potential of amps. Good luck man, My friend just got off a 2 week adderall binge, He only got to sleep like 6 days outa 14

This quote, however, is full of failure. First off, if you've been taking Adderall to focus, and you have a legitimate ADD problem, it is highly unlikely that stepping down to methylphenidate with keep you functioning at "finals of my last semester at college" levels. Secondly, methylphenidate has terrible side effects and drawbacks compared to Adderall; you don't focus as well, you feel more jittery, you're not as social, you don't feel like God (ever), you're not affected by the medication for as long, you don't eat all day and then eat at night (I dunno, this made me sick), you still don't always sleep right (and you can't stay up to cram), and most importantly you feel depressed, exhausted and generally like total shit after it suddenly stops working sooner than you needed it to. The comedown off of methylphenidate, on a daily basis, was actually starting to make me feel manic, something Adderall has never done. And I mean, if it was any good, why isn't there a street market for its recreational use (sans studying)? It's because Ritalin blows balls.

My only advice to OP is: take stupid noob's advice. Pick a date, a time and a fucking rationale for quitting, and stick to them. Addiction is shitty, and if you don't wanna check into rehab or counseling, you've gotta man up if you're gonna beat it alone. When you do quit, set aside several weeks to let everything get out of your system, and avoid any possible people/places/scenarios where you could even come in contact with it. Lock yourself in your house, pick a new hobby, read a book.. whatever it takes to get your mind off the withdrawal and psychological dependence.

By the way, it sounds like you might have had an incident of amphetamine psychosis, which is a very bad thing. If that's the case, even I might agree that you need to cut back; the problem arises when, in the throws of addiction, maintaining a normal dosage is guaranteed to result in imminent relapse. Should you (honestly) think that you can't take your minimum daily dosage without regression into abusive patterns, do yourself a favor and cut it out long enough to allow your physiology to get over your habit. I mean, the last thing I want to see is another name stickied to the top of this forum, and flipping on CNN to "breaking news of a young college senior who stroked out during his last final exam and died" probably isn't good for anyone in this community either.

Hope some of this helped.

God is just a way that people cope with all of the stress going on in their lives. They believe in him because they're too stupid to think about the truth. Sure, perhaps Jesus was a real person who performed what others considered miracles, but he did it without the help of some supernatural being watching over us all. When people sit in church to pray to God, all that they are really doing is limiting their knowledge of the universe by praising the sky, like some unrealistic cartoon.

People need to learn to use more than a small portion of their brain, and take their thinking to a higher level, observing and analyzing every possible detail. Virtually everyone goes about their life limiting what they can do, because others tell them that it's not possible. People only tell them that it's not possible because they themselves are scared of being surpassed. They go about their lives believing in a deity that doesn't exist and working on the same job every day just to make a living to try to make their children have better lives than they had. What's the point? Continuing to go this way does not end up in advancing anywhere in the long run. Children are going to have the same difficulties that their parents had because of being mouth-fed their whole lives, sheltered from the so-called "real world" and beyond. In order to better all of man-kind, the life forms of the human race must realize their full potential. They all must be enlightened, and this can only be done by thinking at the higher level that is not contemplated on by most. Ignorance must end, because there is no absolute truth. All truth are relative, all opinions. The red apple may be a red apple to most, but those blind of color it really is a grey apple. To those with mental illness, the red apple really can be a green orange, and there is nothing that anyone else can do to stop that person from believing their relative truth. In order for world peace to ensure, people must see the other points of view, and must realize that everyone thinks that what they're doing is right. The opposing sides must meet at a compromise point for any hope of love among all.

The only evil that exists is when a person goes against what they themselves think is right, when they are not innocent. People need to stop being negative and have a positive outlook on life. By doing this they will enjoy living, because attaining pleasure and helping others attain pleasure is the meaning of life. Laughing is one of the most satisfying means of pleasure, and three effective aspects to make yourself and others laugh are being random, over-stereotyping and lying obviously. By being in a constant state of euphoric positive pleasure at non-mournful times, people can enjoy life more than they ever would mentally living in their "real world" with stocks and lawsuits. People can even use tools such as music or mind-altering substances, such as alcohol, to help them realize the fullness to the truth that living emotionally free is better than being trapped in your own mind. Living emotionally free allows us to feel and manipulate the energy that connects all living things, the energy that allows us to push ourselves beyond the points of what most believe as limits, into the infinite.

Being pessimistic and depressed gets one no where, because of the simple fact that they have no incentive for moving life along at a fast pace. The faster life moves, the more fun there is to experience, but one must take break every often and catch up on responsibilities. This allows them time to think and evaluate their attitudes and behaviors, changing the attitudes if needed. Behavior should not be based on these realized attitudes though, but rather one should behave in life as being reserved and devious to their true attitudes to strangers, people that don't understand the real them. That way, they can reveal their real attitudes based on behavior when needed. While being reserved and devious to strangers, people should at the same time be comfortable to meet strangers and act positively around them. It is wise for people to always act devious to some extent, never letting anyone but themselves know their absolute thoughts, because it is never known who is watching, and who can be trusted.

The secrets of living successfully can never be completely understood unless experienced. There are too many fucking idiots in the world to keep track of who really knows what is going on. Naive hypocrites dominate the population of all societies, trying to say that what they think is right. All that they really care about is the well-being of them selves. People should fuck it all, and not care about what others think. They should stop living their pointless lives, controlled by work and fear, and have enough courage to try to do what really matters in the big picture of it all. They should try to eliminate pain in others, for it is in dealing pain to others that people are blinded from seeing other people's relative truths. People should take their jobs way less seriously, which actually results in improved efficiency. Focusing too hard on simple work tasks fogs the mind, which in turn declines the speed and quality of work performed. Living each second of every day as if it is the last is the best way to go, because that day very well may be Armageddon. Each day should include time to take in the glories of nature, both ugly and beautiful, and be thankful for what is already acquired.

but then again thats what you do for a living, you know...piss people off. i bet thats the only thing you can get pleasure from because your a failure. If you are starved for attention go perform on broadway or something or come out of the closet...i dunno...

Adderall for me is a fantastic school aid. Occaisonally I take a 25 mg XR before school and I am focused and slightly euphoric.

However, methylphenidate SUCKS for me. I took a 54 mg Concerta and I was just SPEEEDIN for about 30 minutes, it was fantastic. Then I crashed and went to sleep. After I woke up I felt like shit the next day.

Adderall ftw.

Also my friend sells me his Desoxyn, haha. He won't take it because it's meth. Helps me in school also. I don't see alot of people here ever talk about Desoxyn, is it rare or shitty or what? hah

I've never seen it in RL but I've looked it up. I've wondered if it was equally potent with top street shard.. but it must be. its methamphetamine right? would anything be different? also what would it look like.. crushed up shards pressed into a pill or what.. thats fucked up that they prescribe meth to people.. it must be only for extreme cases of obesity.

No, my friend is not prescribed it for obesity. It is prescribed to him for ADD which I found weird also.

OP got pwned! I hate to say this, because I myself have relied on this figure many years of my life, but there is no God.

I mean, the last thing I want to see is another name stickied to the top of this forum, and flipping on CNN to "breaking news of a young college senior who stroked out during his last final exam and died" probably isn't good for anyone in this community either.

Hope some of this helped.

the first time i read this i thought it said "stroked one out" and i got this hilarious image of an adderall-crazed student masturbating furiously in a quiet, crowded exam room. those college kids get that adderall in them, theres no telling what theyll do.

loltrisomy

trisomy 21!

I've never seen it in RL but I've looked it up. I've wondered if it was equally potent with top street shard.. but it must be. its methamphetamine right? would anything be different? also what would it look like.. crushed up shards pressed into a pill or what.. thats fucked up that they prescribe meth to people.. it must be only for extreme cases of obesity.

crushed up shards in a pill? NO you fuckin idiot!

well i decided i pretty much have to stop abusing it....but I don't know if i can function well without taking it at all.

I've been there bro. There was a time when I did roughly 160mg of adderall a day - just to get through the day, not to get high. I didn't want to get fucked up; I wanted to become a better, more efficient person. I didn't want to be distracted by shit, nor concern myself with eating. I wanted to be more than human. Evidently, that type of thinking only leads to pitfalls.

I took such a high dose for so long - about 6 months with lower doses 6 months before - that my body began to hate me. I could barely breath because my heart was using all of my body's oxygen just to pump at such a high rate. I'd walk up stairs, and have to chill for a few minutes to catch my breath. But I kept using that shit, knowing that it was killing me rapidly. Why stop? Why be less than perfect?

Long story made short - I had no choice. The sense of never tiring faded because I was malnourished. I couldn't work for hours without rest because I couldn't fucking breath. But that's not why I quit. I bought so much in such a short time that all my contacts were exhausted of adderall. I didn't look toward meth because again I wasn't trying to get high.

Life fucking blows once you quit, at least for 10 days or so. You'll be ridiculously tired. I slept every free minute away. You eat a lot as well. Its a good feeling for your body, but your mind will be wrecked. No matter how much you want to take one, don't do it. I limit myself to 45mg a day when I get them - but I don't get them anymore. Why? I started using cocaine, and now I'm at the end of that addiction. 2 weeks, 18 grams - I guess adderall addiction will be paradise to quitting this shit.

I'd recommend that you quit for a weeks. If, at that time, you feel like you can handle a low dose, go for it. But understand that tolerance will redevelop very quickly, and you'll want to take more and more every day. If you do so, you'll be exactly where you started, or worse.

IWD makes a decent post for once and everyone jumps all over it or ignores it just because it was IWD who posted it. You guys suck. :o

He's not stupid. Almost all of his posts have some sort of mockery or joke in them, actually. He just trolls 99% of the time. Which is pretty fucking annoying...
