Recreational insulin use?
I was reading something about insulin overdoses as a suicide/homicide method and it mentioned that people were using it recreationally.
There are also reports of insulin abuse by injecting larger doses that lead to mild hypoglycemic states. This is extremely dangerous. A news report claims that an international track athlete had used insulin as a way of 'energizing' the body. The intended implication would seem to be that insulin has effects similar to those alleged for some steroids. This is not so.

I know people who are having a hypoglycemic episode have been commonly mistaken for drunks, so I could see how someone might think it's fun. Reading wikipedia though, the only particularly fun looking thing I saw was a mention that it makes you feel warm. Decreased motor function could be fun too I guess.
There are neurological symptoms too, but they don't look fun.
Is there any real truth to this?

Re: Recreational insulin use?
I guess having an abundance of insulin would give you a lack of energy and the shock might overload your brain causing these effects. Other than that, I have no idea why it would do that. Now, I have heard of girls lowering/not taking their insulin to lose weight.

Re: Recreational insulin use?
ok, there is nothing fun about low OR high blood sugar. you would feel like complete shit. i have hypoglycemia, and when my blood sugar gets low i cannot have a straight thought, and because of my confusion i am irritable and lash out on people, get extremely dizzy when i stand up to the point of almost passing out, etc. when i eat after having low sugar, i often feel baked afterwards, do not know what causes this, tho.

Re: Recreational insulin use?
Well, that settles it.
I know people who have shot up OTC sleeping pills, so I guess these rumors just fall under the stupid junkie header.

Re: Recreational insulin use?
I've never seen that one before. I'm learning a ton tonight.
It's the active compound in Unisom brand sleep aid, as well as it's generics, and is found in several other formulations, including nyquil (which I just learned last night myself) I never mess with the shit, so I never knew it was in there.
But heres some lulz:
Walgreens brand generic Unisom have a striking resemblance to 1mg xanax footballs, and most idiots can't tell the difference just by looking.
So, back in the day, I used to sell them to all the xanax fiends in my area, and I made a fucking KILLING. Thousands of dollars in a very short time. But they have to be true idiots to fall for it. The first person who looks the pill up fucks up the whole thing.
But then you can just say your guy gave them to you to sell, and they worked on you, and you've never had a complaint, so, sorry, here's your money back on those few you bought, and just tell everyone else too fucking bad if they come back after HEARING they were fake.
My crackhead brother turned me onto that scam.
LOL I used all the money from it to buy chemicals and labware and drugs and shit. That shit funded my first meth cook.

haha a buddy of mine showed me those and told me how he used to trade them to a crack fiend (with good connect/money and the habit to go along with it, think old schooler smoking grams through a classic water bong lol). Anyways used to trade him 90-120 at a time as xanax and get hella crack, good shit too, he was sorta the guys showfer(sp?) of sorts... and the guy was so wigged out when he'd take them that he'd sleep like he wanted and never questioned shit, ha.
fucker got me one night though, no biggie though, gave me 3 of them for a ride instead of gas, this was when gas was still like 1.20-30ish though and like i said, no biggie, except that I took them on the way home and it really pissed me off falling asleep instead of getting a benzo buzz...
so thats the active eh? I never knew for sure, and your right as they look so alike that most will never question you, and if they are dumbasses the downing feeling can fool some. maybe were giving out some Bad Ideas here though man, really...
Someone who knows there shit will bust you in a second though as the shape is very similar but not perfect and the markings are wrong and easy to look up. so check these out and keep a eye out for them totseans, don't be fooled...
