Default Got caught tokin

i am 17 and got caught smoking in a car with my friend who is 18. We had like 2 g's on us and a loaded bowl which they saw me lighting. I got charged with paraphernalia and possession and he got charged with paraphernalia, possession and CDS(or something) which is possession in a car or something. Anyone have similar charges/ know what we can be looking at here. We are both first time offenders

All of this information is dependent in which state you got arrested and if it is your first offense.

I got arrested on paraphernalia and possession (of less than twenty grams) in Florida and I would've gotten two misdemeanors and probably about a year's probation, but it was my first offense so I got 4 months unsupervised drug counseling to get my record expunged.

You have nothing to worry about, being a minor.

Your friend, on the other hand, likely has three misdemeanor charges to look forward to. If it's his first offense, he might get off with some sort of drug counseling or rehabilitation to get his record expunged. If he's been arrested prior to this after he turned 18, then he's completely fucking fucked.

Yes, fucking fucked.

...but for real dude, Google could probably help you out better than any of us could.

Just fuckin misdemeanor bullshit, you will probably get unsupervised as will he, they might do some shit for you since you are a minor to get the charges dropped if you do some certain stupid ass stuff.

Yeah but they ended alcohol prohibition after the gargantuan rise in crime. Hmm. If you make a law prohibiting something crime seems to follow? That doesn't make any sense!

I'm glad the lawmakers of today are doing such a grand job of completely ignoring history.

Wait, where did my constitutional rights disappear to again?

Seriously, what unthinkable acts of evil are these laws protecting us from? What good does it do, at all?

Considering mostly all of of the Schedule I Substance list consists of Psychedelics, I'm guessing it's a big gigantic conspiracy to prevent people from freeing themselves from the mental slavery that is our wonderful god-blessed country.

The government can't control the outcome of psychedelics, only the person ingesting the drug can. They learned that very quickly from covert CIA studies about LSD such as MK-Ultra, when they were trying to use it as a weapon for chemical warfare. The government likes control, and if somehow a person found a way to control themselves and break down the social conditioning that the government worked so hard to instill into you, of course the person finding control in his/her self is going to be persecuted.

It's just like what the Chinese have done to Tibet.

YOU CAN ACHIEVE MENTAL FREEDOM? MOAR OARDER!

Yep. Trying to make us all believe we are slaves, make us believe that we need to bend over and take it up the ass because there aren't any alternatives. Just like laws and religious taboo against suicide. Or that Good and Evil are objective.

Too bad so many people are willing to be slaves. Too bad that so many don't realize the only thing maintaining the oppressors tyrannical forms of "authority" is the masses acceptance that these people have the right to any authority over them in the first place.

We are all already as free as we can be. The only chains are in our minds.

And its all imaginary bullshit, its all in our fucking heads. They have no real power, no real control. The only reason anything pans out the way they want it to, is because we let them.

I'm never really one to call people out but what you said in this thread is very basic. The government isnt some giant board meeting trying to fuck you over. They just like having ignorance on there side and make money off our arrests. Pot being legal seems like a far worse thing. It is a medicine that's clear but it's really not so great for EVERYONE. Having the whole country being burn outs produces little effect. It's like if you had a bad heart and took your medication your heart would react and work with that chemical for the better. Now having all these kids fried all the time doesnt work cause not everyone has a mind that needs frying. It's a touchy subject because personally i love drugs but I can just see that 90% of the users out there really have no mental stimulation from drugs. No mind expansion just a bunch of shot as youth making a generation of fail.

You would think so, yet so many people never figure it out.

The government isnt some giant board meeting trying to fuck you over. They just like having ignorance on there side and make money off our arrests.

The government should not be trying to fuck us over, but that does not mean it isn't. As you said, they try to keep the masses ignorant. Why ... for our "own good"? What right do 'they' have to make money off of 'us' ... and why the fuck is there this separation of 'Them' and 'Us' is the first fucking place?? Isn't the government supposed to work for the people?

I suppose you could say it is, since most people seem to be pretty fucking content in submitting to this imaginary authority, this demented fantasy where those too burdened by the task of thinking for oneself can bask in the bliss of their own ignorance.

Pot being legal seems like a far worse thing. It is a medicine that's clear but it's really not so great for EVERYONE. Having the whole country being burn outs produces little effect.

And why exactly would the whole country become burnouts?

It's like if you had a bad heart and took your medication your heart would react and work with that chemical for the better. Now having all these kids fried all the time doesnt work cause not everyone has a mind that needs frying.

WTF are you talking about?

... 90% of the users out there really have no mental stimulation from drugs. No mind expansion just a bunch of shot as youth making a generation of fail.

Yeah, and you know why? Because they're all ignorant dumb ass kids who think they're cool, they're concerned about their image, they're just fucking consumers who worship material, falling for the same fucking lies as the rest of the majority of western culture. And that culture is collapsing.

Wow. 2 grams and he's facing such harsh penalties...

Fuck am I ever glad to be Canadian :). If I got caught with two grams they would just take it away (as long as I wasn't drunk, or driving, or some sort of combination of the two).

Americas fucked up. In Canada I got caught with weed twice and I never got charged with anything. One of the times they searched my pockets after I got caught shoplifting and found some weed on me and insanely enough they turned a blind eye to it. They said "Because this is Quebec and cannabis is accepted here we will forget about it". Police in Quebec are fuckin cool. Show them respect and they'll return it.

First off, I want to address Obbe and Puck: I think you guys are spot on. We all seem to share mutual views about the government and its level of corruption, and it's definitely nice to stumble upon like-minded people who are able to present their ideas in an intelligent and effective way. Personally, I feel that nothing posted on this topic is ever "too basic" because, in reality, the problem lies in the ignorance of the masses; effective mass education requires a high level of repetition and a distinct willingness to cater to the lowest common denominator. If fundamental, core concepts are not widely disseminated, they will never become widely accepted, and without widespread acceptance, these concepts will never serve their purpose of instigating change.

The only other thing I have to add is a small ray of hope for everyone fighting for cannabis in America. It seems that for the most part, adoption of new social mores tends to occur in three stages: open ridicule, violent opposition, and finally integration into the common social construct. The end of political rule by a conservative generation and an impending revolution in favor of liberalism herald the end of violent opposition towards cannabis. I sincerely hope that I'm right in this respect.

^^^My means of education is just to be very open about my drug use. When people know me for a while as a nice, intelligent, likable person and then I tell them that I've shot heroin and smoked crack it makes a big impact on their perceptions about drug users.

I see people arguing on forums, that way just doesn't work. No one is going to change their mind on an issue like that because of someone on the internet. You have to give people a good impression of yourself, then let them know your a drug user.

It all depends which state your in. You'll probably get harsher penalties because you were in a car.

Since plenty of people have said how the penalties vary from state to state, I won't say it too.

But I will point out just how stupid it is to be smoking in a car like that.

Now it might be said that I'm a hypocrite since I always smoke in a car, it's not the same because it's not the same for me if I get caught. It is not a big deal - even without a prescription I can have up to an ounce - as long as it's not in multiple baggies - it's only a $100 ticket. Many cities here also have it so that pot law violations - on the personal use level - are the lowest priority [IOW, if a cop saw me smoking a joint, and someone jay walking at the same time, by law they have to bust the jay walker first.]

What do you expect? I mean really, how many people in CA don't smoke? And of those few, how many of them do you think are genuinely fucked up about it?

I will agree though; QFT.
