Default Kyphosus fuscus (dream fish)

Any know anything about this amazing fish. Google doesnt even know to much about it.

We dont even know what the active ingredient in it is. I would take a guess at either a DMT relative or bufotenin relative and thats only because thats what other people are saying.

So whats the vast knowledge of totse know about this strange fish. I want to learn more.

O.K. from a book "The Hallucinogens" - Hoffer & Osmond

'Even a variety of fish produces hallucinations. Roughly (1960)
described the dream fish present near Norfolk island. The inhabitants
stated consuming this fish would produce nightmares. In order to test
this claim, Joe Roberts, National Geographic photographer, consumed
some of the fish, broiled. The next morning he reported "It was pure
science fiction." He saw a new kind of car, pictures of monuments to
mark man's first trip into space. The fish is Kyphosus fuscus,
closely related to the silver drummer caught off New South Wales.
The author, Roughly, also tried the fish and had weird dreams.'

I fail. HA.

Dennis McKenna just gave a speech at the World Psychedelic Forum about the fish. Do you even know who Dennis McKenna is? He also talked about psychoactive honey that is made when bees get the nectar from the angel trumpet tree and about a psychoactive butterfly that has been used in North America by a tribe for centuries.

God damn you are a fucking waste of time.

That's pretty cool. I wonder if anyone actually fishes them. They probably taste like crap though.

Can you link me some good stuff on that researcher. The one who was looking into all these natural hallucinagins.

It's been a while since I read the book, but I do think Terrence McKenna, the author of "Food of the Gods" is his brother. And if you haven't read that book yet, I highly suggest it. It's about how psychedelics helped consciousness and conception of god and development of speech progress.
Basically, his theory is we came from tripping monkeys. It's an interesting read nonetheless.

I live in New South Wales..

This fish is not called Drogen. Drogen is simply German for 'drugs'.

I doubt you'll find out what this fish actually is if that report was indeed made 58 years ago. That's a fuck of a long time.

If you want to poison yourself:

Abudefduf septemfasciatus (Sergeant major) Pacific Ocean, Africa
Epinephelus corallicola (Grouper) Pacific Ocean
Kyphosus cinerascens (Bluefish) Indonesia
Kyphosus vaigiensis (Brass bream) Indonesia
Mugil cephalus (Flathead mullet) The tropics
Mulloidichtys samoensis (Golden goatfish) Indonesia
Neomyxus chaptali (Mullet) Indonesia
Saganus oramin (Rabbitfish) Indonesia, West Africa
Upeneus arge (Goatfish) Indonesia

http://penfield.psych.uiuc.edu/omnibrain/2006/04/hallucinogenic-fish.html
http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/pages/item.php?news=911

PROTIP: Mullet aren't hallucinogenic themselves, and they're even nastier to eat than carp.

They also call it dream fish :(, but when you do a google of traumfisch (dreamfish) there are videos and shit, you'll probably be more successful pursuing this via another language.

Dennis Mckenna is Terence's younger brother. He used to, and may still teach at a college/university in vancouver. I have his address and telephone number pinned on my cork-board.

That's really cool. I've always heard about psychedelic fish but never had I heard of a specific species.

I'd be interested to know just exactly how they work. I'm aware that DMT isn't active through oral administration without an MAOI. So does the fish have a natural MAOI in it as well?

If not, perhaps its not even DMT?
