THC powder + Herbs
Do they train the sniffer dogs to sniff out the weed itself or the actual THC in it? I was thinking a good way to disguise weed would be to isolate the THC and infuse it with oregano, basil or some other smelly legal herb or spice. To the untrained eye it would look like oregano. To the untrained nose it would smell like oregano. In fact it would be oregano. I wonder if the dogs can smell THC dust in the midst of all that oregano.

Re: THC powder + Herbs
Dogs sense the turpentines of the weed, which are most concentrated in the resin of the plant, as well as the cbn/cbd/thc. Most do-it-without-lab extractions will only isolate the oils of the plant which will contain turpentines(sp?) as well as thc. If you could fract. distill the oils you could end up with mostly active content, but turpentine boiling point is just below the thc, therefore you would have to settle for some smell in your extract or major loss in of the goodies in your final product thus making the whole process very inefficient. There are other ways but i have no clue how can you go about it without some serious equipment. And come on dude would you really smoke thc laced oregano? I would stick with mullein or something smokeable and legal.

Terpenes, not turpentine, but the rest of your post was spot on.

Ah yes, terpenes is the word. Now that i reread my post with "turpentine" i realized it was kinda lulzy. Mah budz gotz lacedz wit teh turpentine heh.
Now otoh if you could isolate just the terpenes, you would have a shitload of fuck-with-the-cops-without-breaking-the-law potential. Imagine soaking yourself in dankest skunkiest of terpenes and going to a police station to see if anyone found and returned your wallet. With enough people working with such substance and with a common goal you could render k9 based judgement a non-reasonable cause for a search by law.

I think someone else brought that up here before, and it is a damn good and lulzy idea indeed.

Nice, marketing to dumb stoners. That shit doesen't work, smells can permeate through nearly anything.

Actually it's more the fact that you touch your weed, you touch your container, tiny amounts of said terpenes are left behind on your fingerprints. :)
