I treat my highs like trips...

I've only been smoking weed for about 2 years and since about middle school, I've been fascinated with drugs and the effects. Anyways, I recently became obsessed with LSD, even though I've never done it... I've read a substantial amount of articles, gotten testimonies, and what really boosted my interest is the Vh1 doc: Drug years...[on now]

But, I think, because of all of that, I treat my highs like trips. I honestly don't think this is because I'm stupid, I'll tell you why...

Off weed I definitely get way in the back of my mind, I discover radical things about myself and others that I would've never known sober. Deep thinking would be an understatement for me since I think unusually deep sober. Maybe due to the fact I'm rather internally preoccupied.

High increases my inner schizo... I honestly believed (high- and for a while after when sober) that the maintenance men in my complex had an elaborate plan to tape and record my every move through the mirrors and vents of my apartment. I didn't turn on the lights in the bathroom for weeks... (i was high like half of that)

I have hallucinations as well... like I look out the window and see tree branches from far off move subtlety or see translucent images that manifest out of nowhere. My closed eye visuals are the most amazing where I see unbelievable shapes, images and lights and colors. The most vivid of the hallucinations occur when I just watch TV in the dark and everything is 3D.

I have traditional after effects also.... I become deeply depressed and suffer from fatigue because weed shows me some harsh actualities.

My main concern and reason for typing, really... is to determine whether or not my constitution is strong enough to handle acid... or do I have an underlying mental illness ready to get out ? and does anyone else feel like there weed highs can be called trips? oh... and I might just be weird so...

Yeah with no tolerance and some will power, shit can get trippy like that. But the will power wasn't as big of a factor that I thought, when I tried to talk myself out of the intensity, it didn't really go away. That was cool. But by will power I mean just letting yourself go, placebo can be very real feeling sometimes.

I do agree that my marijuana highs are trips. I smoke so infrequently that each time I do it is like doing it for this first. I rediscover myself and realize new things when I'm really, really baked.

I decided to try weed peanut butter, and it did end badly. My body just couldn't absorb all the thc and i started to puke violently right before i passed out,
and woke up with the worst headache of my life. I won't use this method again, because i hate the smell/taste, but I made weed peanut butter. I simply
chopped up a bud (don't know how much it weighed or it's potency, but i bet it was maybe between 0.75g - 1.5g's, it was a big bud) finely. Then i put in it some peanut
butter and made sure all the weed was covered up by it. Then i popped it in the microwave until the weed was brown/almost black. It didn't taste so bad the first time. I ate the whole thing like pudding, not knowing what would come. After maybe an hour, I felt not much more than some mild sedation.
So i'm like fuck this shit, never doing it again. Then I decided to go for a walk. This is when the fun started, and ultra time dilation began taking effect.
I was half way up a steep hill to the avenue, and i decided to call my friend. I couldn't talk coherently at all. It was like half gibberish half laughter, and i couldn't
form a single coherent sentence no matter how hard i tried. I just hung up and continued walking.
When I was on the sidewalk of the avenue, i was almost peaking. It's difficult to describe, so bear with me. Everything seemed much bigger than it really was,
and it had everything seemed "bright". It just looked so much more beautiful than it really was (I live in a suburban town). You'd have to experience it yourself to see what I mean. I've had the best time of my life, and all it consisted of was walking to the ghandi mart and back. As I was getting near my home I was so fuxxored and nauseas my body just couldn't absorb any more THC.It felt like all the blood left my body, especially my legs. I had almost zero coordination and i can't believe i made it down that hill. So heres basically the positive and negative effects i've experienced.

- visual imagery manifested in my vision (kinda like hallucinations - i could see what i was "feeling" about whatever i was looking at, or what was going on in my mind)
- EXTREME euphoria :)
- brightened colors and indescribable alteration of appearance (kind of looked like what some people describe the high astral planes as looking like)
- physical size and time dilation (things looked much bigger, or smaller than they really were, and time went by really slow)
- bad cottonmouth
- severly decreased coordination
- uncontrollable laughter and smiling
- nausea
- hangover - head splitting headache
- simultaneous pleasant body feel and dissociation
- delirium/weird thoughts
- tunnel vision like effect

Despite the negative effects, it was very worth it. I would definately do it again, but i'll experiment more with the dosage to find the perfect amount.

My paranoia is like, I think it is reality, however I know it is just my mind playing a 'game' so even though I'm paranoid, I still think it's a fun, imaginary, game.

Well all I'm saying is I remember Joe reccomending 5-htp as a stoner-supplament, I'm pretty sure it replenishes serotonin, not saying more serotonin, and smoking a lot of weed decreases serotonin levels. Also, I read serotonin is linked with depression in some cases. Basically, that's the reason I've said that. Otherwise, I don't know much about it and was merely suggesting that maybe a stoner-supplament could releave his depressive after-effects.

Iv tripped reasonably hard a few times off weed, back when I had a low tolerance and smoked big bowls I would actually trip... Not just high, I mean proper full blown mental tripping incapable of doing anything, moving or controlling thoughts... Nothing like any other trips but certainally a trip rather than a high. I can see why sometimes smoking n00bs thinks their shit has been laced with LSD, with a low tolerance weed can be a very powerful drug. The weed "trip" I find to be really nice although very powerful and introspective it does help you think and meditate on a very difficult to reach level and is certainally one of the most pleasant feeling trips/highs.

No matter how you define it, weed, or hash, by itself is not a trip. Why? Because the word trip was defined in use with LSD, mescaline, and mushrooms. Weed is really nothing like those drugs.

Dude getting high of weed isn't even anything like a trip. I've never tripped on acid but I've done shrooms and DXM before. Don't make such a big deal of being high it really aint shit compared to other drugs. The first time I did shrooms when I did about 2.5 grams I was extremely surprised by how powerful it was. It was like nothing that I had ever done before. I mean I was okay I didn't freak out or anything just my mind was in such a weird place and I wasn't used to it. What you have to do is relax and realize nothing bad will happen. Also when I did 600 mg of DXM for my first time I got extremely fucked up but its not like I was scared. So I suggest you go out and do about a half eighth of shrooms and see how you like it. If you can't get that do some DXM, it might help you get ready for an acid trip. If you don't want to do either of those then just go ahead and drop acid but just be prepared.

lately ive been smoking in the shower, well, before it in the bathroom, then i get in the shower, and the shower really intensifies my high, I have a low tolerance but when im high in the shower I get really really really bizzare either thoughts or aural hallucinations, I tend to hear or think thought loops in my head, usually with bizarre sounds, like I just hear a whole bunch of wierd noises that sound like noises from a really old NES game or gameboy game, but looped. and also occasionally, mild hallucinations with the sounds, I remember looking at the shower door hearing lots of bleeps and bloops and wierd noises and I saw like a colorful guy smashing a hammer at me, on the wall, and although it wasnt like super vivid or anything I was in such a trance that I reacted to it. then sometimes I will have a sort of hallucination and my buzz sort of shapes to the hallucination, its hard to explain, one time I had just finished my 4th bowl and I was just totally tranced, staring at the ground and I saw a large spinning wheel in my vision, and as it was spinning, I could feel an intense buzz like the wheel was spinning on my body, hard to explain.... but I definitly hear and see things when im really high. in fact, I remember one time when I was coming up on E and smoked a few bowls, as I was walking around town, literally EVERYTHING was warping and distorting and moving left and right, and I had some pretty strange hallucinations, I would see something, and think it was something else, I saw 2 people holding hands and although they still sort of appeared as holding hands, I couldnt stop thinking that they were together an elephant. Or I saw a pole and thought it was a person, kept squinting my eyes at it till I realised it was just a pole, but it didnt exactly visually manifest into a person, but I had the idea/vision in my head which like manifested into my thoughts making me think it was something else.

Ok to everyone in this thread who says they hallucinated on weed is a dumbfuck. BUT this one time I was super fucking blazed and I was chilling in my bed listening to my iPod in the dark, I closed my eyes and imagined shit to the music. I didn't really "see" anything but I vividly imagined shit that was like going to the beat of the music. Sometimes perception may be distorted you might think something looks really far away when its not. I've never seen shit on weed though thats just stupid.

I actually "tripped" off weed for the first time the other day. I had been up for 2 days and nights on speed and was starting to get minor visuals from sleep deprivation alone. I smoked a bowl of weed and some hash then all the shit on my desk started vibrating. Pop cans, pill bottles, deodorant, all starting vibrated to the beats of Led Zeppelin (and the shit was actually moving, these were not minor vibrations, the objects appeared to be floating and bobbing around.)

At first I was fucking terrified. Its not every day you get vivid open eye hallucinations from weed. I thought I might be going insane or something. After a few seconds I realized that the sleep deprivation must be acting like a catalyst to the weed (or vise versa).

Anyways I thought it was pretty cool while it lasted. I've also been doing a lot of shrooms lately so maybe that contributed too or something.

If you take a little bit of LSD, like 1 or 2 blotters, you still only have a psychedelic buzz. But if you take enough, thats when you actually start to trip.

The thing you are missing here though, Mr. Duck, is that the traditional definition of trip is hallucinations (not visualizations) that morph things and change the colours of things. I don't mean the pixelly hallucinations of weed, I mean the actual colour fucken changes. I've seen some intense things from weed, but they were all pixelly and I could tell that they were just phosphenes. It is not like this with LSD or DXM, hence weed not being a techincal "trip".

general change in conciousness, change in perception of time, visual depth, brightening of colors, color shift, CEVs, hallucinations, stimulation/sedation, euphoria, laughter, panic attacks, anxiety, racing thoughts, radical/deep thinking, emotional instability, change in perception of body, dizziness, increased awarness of senses, increased emotional impact of sensory input, short-term memory loss, etc. etc.

The only reason this argument is still going on is because some people think that if you get they have "tripped" on whatever before and it was in some ways like being stoned... nope, sorry you have never really tripped, maybe gotten mild effect from shrooms/lsd/dxm/whatever but you have not tripped. With any real hallucinogen there is a point where you break-through (not just salvia) and the psychadelic buzz (i like that term) becomes a trip. I ate enough powerful cannabutter to reget it enough to nearly kill myself just so it ends, but it is nothing like 8th of cubes or a hit of really good acid for a first time in your life.
