I disappear for six months and when I come back, the first thing I read is a thread about KP's death. What a shame, that such a knowledgeable member had to go out at such a young age.

Reading through this thread, I can't help but feel confused by some of the banal, childish and flaming posts. I mean, I'm no hypocrite; I've done my share of flaming and trash talking. But to see a thread about a member's death, a thread full of grief and mourning, riddled with these posts.. it's something I can't understand. And while I probably wouldn't call it disrespectful, it definitely serves to undermine the overall cathartic effect.

Ok, you misunderstood me here. I am not saying doing drugs while you have kids is bad. I have two kids myself, one living with her mother, and one living with me, 8 years old, and 9 months old, with the 9 month old living with me.


I smoke pot every day. I take opiates about half the time. I do stimulants here and there, and I trip my balls off at every chance, BUT the difference between people like you and I, and people like KP is that we don't let the drugs rule our lives. He did.

Of course you can be an addict, and still love your kids, my mother is proof of that, but more often than not, the addiction comes first.

Like I said, I use drugs, and I am the primary caretaker of my 9 month old son. I am a stay at home dad, so he is with me almost all the time. BUT, I am sure to go into another room to smoke pot, and I never take so many drugs that I can not function as a father.

I never let getting high come before his needs.


But addicts DO.

KP would do as many drugs as he possibly could at once time, and that type of behavior does not stop until something catastrophic happens, like death, OD, arrest, or similar.

I'm not sure if you even have factual support to back up this claim, but I can vouch from my experience that this is certainly not always the case. Everyone is different, everyone is raised in a different environment and everyone has different emotional and psychological needs; there is no way you can claim to know what sort of impact KP's death will have on his daughter's life and future.

WHO IS GLORIFYING DRUG USE? I use drugs, but no one really thinks that drugs make you fucking cool. I quit using meth because it was fucking stupid. Addicts who don't seek help are making poor decisions for their lives and families, but part of addiction is a powerful dependency that is capable of bringing the strongest men with the best intentions to their knees. Really blows, like many others have said, KP was one of the only members they respected even if they didn't know him, and always looked forward to his posts. I know he was strugglin with the H for awhile then when he kicked he used alot of bad crutches. Like most of us here (probably) just addicted to being fucked up at any expense, because sobriety is too harsh when your vacation from it has been too long.

I'm an optimist, I believe everyone has their time and place, and I believe that his death was meant to greatly impact us in a positive way, moreso than he would have impacted us in a positive way alive, because he had that magnetic force to him that drew everyone in, now it's time for us to take the message of his death to heart and not let it be in vain.

I feel deep empathy for you KP, and deep sympathy for your family. This has already opened my eyes a great deal because I'm where he was, kicking an IV H addiction and ending up using more dangerous shit as a way to keep my blinders from reality up and my ability to feel the sting of sobriety far away from me.

I'll smoke the last of this blunt to your honor, because like me alot of times you just wanted to smoke some trees but resorted to harder drugs because they were more readily available.

Not too long ago, a "more-so" friend of my girlfriend's who was slowly becoming a friend of my own died by killing himself.

Then our friend, and my real-life friend Evan (AKA: Cobranaut), passed away from an apparent opiate/benzodiazepine overdose.

And now, KamikazePimp dies too...

Holy shit, this is fucking crazy. I didn't read the obituary yet but I assume it was a drug overdose as well. Probably heroin.

Me and him had long, long, long talks about meeting up in Jersey and getting some smack together.

He offered me his basement for a week, if I needed it during a time when I wasn't sure where I'd go.

He was an awesome dude, and he'll be missed.

To those who know I am personally placing flowers on Evan's grave since I am the closest (other than ThetaReactor), I have the flowers on order after I received everyone's donations which I, as well as Evan appreciates.

Much love, KamikazePimp, Cobranaut, and to all the others who lost the battle with drugs.

This isn't to say "drugs are bad, m'kay?" but rather, use them responsibly and you'll be alright. Evan was known to gorge on piles of benzos and opiates, along with occasional alcohol.

From what I heard, he had been depressed for awhile before his death so I can't help but wonder sometimes if....

Anyhow, enough with the sad shit even though this is quite sad indeed.

Its a cycle many fall into after they quit opiates and the mental problems he may have been supressing with opiate abuse may have been too overwhelming. That is why he would abuse other substance to try and cope and he died because of it. This is why it suggeested that people with addiction/dependency problems have a mental evaluation to find the underlying problems.
It really makes me rethink my actions and I hope it does the same for others. DO NOT GET RECKLES WITH YOUR DRUG USE PEOPLE.
