Codeine Separation/Isolation
I got a bottle of codeine/promethazine syrup, problem is not only is it flavored, but it his the grossest flavor possible... grape. Anyway, I don't want this good bottle of fun to go to waste, but there's no way I'm chugging the syrup.
So, I was wondering if this process would work: In a Tylenol-3 style extraction, you cool the solution and filter the precipitate and drink the solution. Would it be possible to make a solution of codeine syrup, let it sit for a day or so (separation) then siphon/drink the water part to get a relatively tasteless buzz? Or better, could I then boil down the water to get a codeine "powder" or concentrate? Or would the codeine rejoin the syrup after the separation occurs?

Re: Codeine Separation/Isolation
Sorry, no way to separate/isolate anything in that syrup. It's kind of like trying to bake a cake, mixing the eggs, salt, flour, sugar, etc. together, then wanting to try and take an egg out; not again happen.
Just man up and drink it; or do what 'er body down south does and make some lean out of it [Mix syrup with some good alcohol and a juice or soda of your choice]. Simple.

Re: Codeine Separation/Isolation
Thanks for the reply... I'll try that out, no alcohol readily available but it might work in some pepsi.

Yes, it will work with Pepsi, though it really isn't "lean" without alcohol, some people prefer a cola type soda like Pepsi or Coke, but I really prefer Sprite, Fresca or even Grape Soda (If you like it). It may be even worthwhile to wait until alcohol is available to mix it with some Sprite and High Shelf Vodka for instance, as alcohol seems to very much intensify the effects, which I assume you, as well as nearly everyone else on this board, are looking to get the best bang for your buck.
Honestly, I would DEFINITELY wait until you find some alcohol to mix with the Syrup and Soda to make it an overall better and more intense experience.
