Social Thoughts on Drugs
I've noticed throughout my using life that drugs are treated much moar differently social wise then any other concept in life. I'm talking about RL here, not Totse, but it also applies.
For example, when we hear people bragging about how fucked up they got on how many pills, everyone calls them a faggot and doesn't believe them. It is socially incorrect to talk about how much you did (if it was alot, if it was an average amount that is fine for some reason).
When asked if I can find a certain drug that I know I can potentially get, I say yes and start calling people. If it doesn't work out, I worry that the person who called me first will think I'm just saying I have connects and lying about it for acceptance. I don't EVER worry about people thinking I'm seeking acceptance in any part of life except drug use, and ironically drug use is the area of my life which I never seek acceptance (because I think its moar socially unacceptable) but there are other aspects of life where I find myself actually seeking acceptance.
I believe that drug users should treat drugs like any other vice, such as sex, vandalism, gambling, etc. In those areas, when people brag about what they did, people may or may not believe them, but they are not called out on being an accepting seeking faggot.
Does this make sence? I feel like I'm not putting the correct wording behind this, I'll edit this post later.
TLDR: Drugs are treated by the drug using community MUCH differently then other concepts are. I think this is bullshit, because it is putting drugs on a different level then other things and I believe it should be balanced. The moar we put drugs on a different level then life, the moar the prohibitionists win.
Thoughs?

Re: Social Thoughts on Drugs
That's because you word it so badly.
It's just drug etiquette. I don't like letting down people when I tell them I can get something, I think everyone does. It's a poser move to brag about how much you do. The people that like to do that, usually do too much anyways and make themselves look like a self-proclaimed douchebag.
Somebody using and letting you use their drugs is a sign of acceptance in itself.
Etiquette is present in everything you do, it just doesn't seem like it would be in drugs because noone openly talks about it. Unwritten rules and stuff.

Re: Social Thoughts on Drugs
...uh, so what the fuck you trying to say?
People embellish, exaggerate, etc - boost their ego, makes their dick feel bigger. How many drugs you did last night is just another faucet for increasing your ego.
It is socially incorrect to talk about how much you did (if it was alot, if it was an average amount that is fine for some reason).
It's socially incorrect to bullshit. People don't like that. Most times, when abnormal dosage amounts are mentioned people call bullshit (whether or not you actually did that much). It's just how it is.
Drugs are taboo, but other than that I don't really think they are on some whole 'nother social level.

Re: Social Thoughts on Drugs
NO!, people brag all the time about the pussy they banged last night, the niggers they fought and kicked their asses, and the money they stole. This is ALL SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE to talk about!
But drugs, for some reason, are NOT!
Does that make sence?
Drugs are put on another plane then other vices.

Or maybe, those things are just accepted in the social groups you have experienced. There are defiantly groups that would not consider bragging about fucking, bragging about racial discrimination, or bragging about theft to be 'socially acceptable' at all.
But drugs, for some reason, are NOT!
Does that make sence?
Sure! If its likely that you have not experienced the sub-cultures which are different from the ones which you have experienced.
Drugs are put on another plane then other vices.
Everything is regarded differently, depending on the people involved. One culture is different then another. They will have different opinions on what is 'normal', different 'rules'.
If you want to find out why talking about certain drug-related things is not socially acceptable in your limited expereince of society, look at the people involved in that group. Examine their character. What are their intentions? What do they care about?

Re: Social Thoughts on Drugs
Ok, well I only associate w/ drug users. Not like "popular kids" who drink and smoke weed on weekends, but put school and sex infront of drugs, and not hippies who use LSD and mushrooms on weekends but put liberalism infront of drugs.
The people I'm talking about are DRUG USERS, who put drugs infront of everything else. To these people, in my experience, it is NOT ok to brag about drugs, where it is ok to brag about sex and fighting.
When I am w/ other kids, such as hippies or the popular group, it IS ok to brag about drugs.
Does that make sence?

Dude.. no.. Go to Bad Ideas and you'll see people getting called on bullshit all the time.
Basically, people don't believe that shit because it's rare, and an attempt to be cool. not very hard to understand. This thread is kind of bragging on your part, note how you said you were a hardcore druggie. You're making like an obviously false statement about this.

Re: Social Thoughts on Drugs
i get what your saying.
for instance, after experimenting with a new drug, some people go around talking about how awesome it was because they want people to think their really cool for doing drugs, because, apparently, people don't sell drugs to dorks. or they want others to think about them, like "oh, i didn't know this person does drugs, i should hang out with him to find out more shit, and maybe get drugs myself." or something like "oh man, i wouldn't expect it out of someone like you, your completely different then what i thought you were like".
while others try to hide it because they feel others are catching onto the game and think its gay when people talk about drugs to get noticed/accepted, because it its, real gay. or they hide it because people who do those sorts of things are looked down upon in this society and it shows poor choice making ability.

Re: Social Thoughts on Drugs
it really does depend on the people, my drug friends and i always talk about drugs and shit and we never think of it as bragging, and the only time i ever talk to anyone who doesnt do drugs about drugs its because i believe they should have the experience, and there are some people i would never talk to with at all, but none of this motivated by bragging, and i think society makes it hard to talk about mostly because experience, like when a serial killer gets caught everyone wants to know how he thinks and such because they want to experience what he experienced, they are just too afraid to talk about it, like a revolving circle of peer pressure and pure desire

PERIODS, MOTHERFUCKER! DO YOU USE THEM?!
BlackPope, maybe when you get in an isolated group of people who value one thing far more than another (as Obbe mentioned), then bragging turns to bullshit because some degree of... respect? comes along with it. Respect is probably the wrong word, but I think you know what I mean. This is probably because these people are so used to their environment that anything deviating from the norm would just be... scary.

I did not make any implication that I was a hardcore druggie. Like 75%+ of BLTC, drugs are moar important to me then most other things in life. If I wanted to brag I would have worded it differently.
terrible rant. wtf, social thoughts on drugs? more like "a noob's thoughts on peer pressure and drugs"
Actually, my OP had nothing to do w/ peer pressure. It had to do w/ the fact that i believe drugs are treated differently then other vices. Good try though, w/e your intentions were.
Are you going through the forum and looking up the most aksed questions and reposting them or something? Because I swear that what your last several threads look like to me.
Yes, this is entirely tru, except for the fact that this question has not been asked (that I've seen), and either has my last posts:

http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2111997 Haven't seen a HBWR thread in a LONG time.
http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2111779 I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE CRITICIZE NORML EVER.
http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2111464 This wasn't a question thread, it was about my experiences w/ 2c-e.
http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2110568 I've seen this question before, but opinions change all the time and I would like moar on it for my personal benefit.
http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2109715 This question about POs directly helps me out.
All those links are on the latests threads started by me.

Re: Social Thoughts on Drugs
Social thoughts? What does that come down to really, but morality? And morality is nothing more but an incredibly convenient way of keeping people in line using the idea of "good" (pleasure) and "evil" (pain).
The only "bad" part of drugs is the reliance on something external to yourself for fulfillment, enlightenment, contentment, satisfaction, or whatever.
The prohibitions can't win, aren't winning, won't win, and there isn't even a contest in the first place.
Drugs are treated differently because since they carry such a stigma (at least in some circles) and can be so high-risk that users form an instant bond and drugs become an instant way of tribal bonding. If you hang out with skiiers, skiing is put above most other activities. If you hang out with druggies....

Thanks for the lesson on ethics, everyone knows this and this is nothing new.

Re: Social Thoughts on Drugs
Drug user's and abuser's don't brag about drugs because they've all been there before.
For example, if someone were to say to his mate that he shot a bag of dope and nearly stopped breathing, his mate would would more than likely say "cool, lets grab a few bags and get on it!" rather than congratulate him.
Maybe i missed the point of the thread but the OP seems to be incapable of expressing his thoughts in a legible[sp] manner. :)

1. It isn't unacceptable to brag about your drug usage in my social circle. You will only come off as a moron if you claim that you did something stupid, like cooked up an E pill and shot it up (since heat kills the MDA and you've ruined the drug).
2. I agree that drugs should be treated as any other vice. That's not the case, though.
3. The prohibition has won as long as we have to hide our habits. Once drugs are decriminalized, only then will we be done justice.
4. It's more, not "moar".

Re: Social Thoughts on Drugs
I did not make any implication that I was a hardcore druggie. Like 75%+ of BLTC, drugs are moar important to me then most other things in life. If I wanted to brag I would have worded it differently.
Actually, my OP had nothing to do w/ peer pressure. It had to do w/ the fact that i believe drugs are treated differently then other vices. Good try though, w/e your intentions were.
Yes, this is entirely tru, except for the fact that this question has not been asked (that I've seen), and either has my last posts:
http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2112310 Haven't seen a Tramdol thread in a LONG time.
http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2111997 Haven't seen a HBWR thread in a LONG time.
http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2111779 I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE CRITICIZE NORML EVER.
http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2111464 This wasn't a question thread, it was about my experiences w/ 2c-e.
http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2110568 I've seen this question before, but opinions change all the time and I would like moar on it for my personal benefit.
http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2109715 This question about POs directly helps me out.
All those links are on the latests threads started by me.
Ya, that makes sence.
Ok fair enough.

Obviously he doesn't care. Hes been called a gay nigger and every other word in the book and he still says moar anyways. Thats why half of the replies to his posts are flames, if he quit saying moar I'm sure MORE people would post with decent replies.. well...maybe not. ;)
