Who knew one could feel so much pain?
I'm talking here about detoxing off of opiates. I think I'm on day four and it still isn't getting any better. No matter how many times I go through this process I end up hooked again because I lose the willpower or time to do it. I'm glad spring break is starting tommorow so I have a week in the sun to find a bit of peace of mind.
This is a long process and I usually never find the time to do it. I've missed school for two days on account of "a bad flu" so far and i'm going to miss tommorow as well. I plan on using this spring break as my detox period.
I was basically killing myself by mixing opiates and benzos in large amounts, shooting up shit I knew was unsterile, driving while nodding, and other stupid shit that I didn't stop to care about because I lost that bit of my self that held any self-respect at all. I was working a job to support my habit and when I quit that job I had to steal, beg, and borrow to get what I needed.
Right now I'm basically an emotional wreck. I'm on the verge of crying whenever I hear anything remotely sad or think of anything sad, my parents don't know what the fuck is wrong with me, and I'm just trying to make it through this shit. Anyone who has been in my spot knows what I'm talking about. There's more self-pitying bullshit I could write here but I think I'll stop with what I've typed so far.
I guess I felt I would find the most support here. I've managed to kick coke, speed, and weed so I guess the big demon is next.
Wish me luck...

And now you know why I never did it cold turkey. Fuck that shit!
I detoxed myself off heroin. Very little pain that way.

Re: Who knew one could feel so much pain?
taper off if cold turkey isnt working... you can minimize the discomfort...
but best of luck... my mom recently did 6 days in rehab for xanax and opiates... i think it kind of shocked her when she had a seizure after not having xanax for a day or two... im happy to see shes finally doing better...

Re: Who knew one could feel so much pain?
Be a fucking man and stop whining, it isn't that fucking painful. I'd gladly withdraw (I've sustained a daily opiate habit for around 18 months now so it wouldn't be pleasant) if I would never have a cluster headache again.
There is plenty of shit more painful and unpleasant than withdrawal, stop fucking feeling sorry for yourself.

Re: Who knew one could feel so much pain?
Yeah it does a bit actually, but anything highly seratonergic does though. Even things like sitting out in the sun to increase seratonin production help a bit, as long as I have strong sunglasses on to stop the glare from hurting my eyes.

I was just about to make a clever comment about having several hundred near-death experiences with LSD over the course of 7 years, but I guess ya got me. :(

Re: Who knew one could feel so much pain?
People who go on with that 'be a man' bullshit concerning withdrawal don't know what they're talking about. You say you're dependant? Must be a little baby chipper habit- Always is when someone claims to be an addict and that it isn't that bad.
Good luck, you might be better off trying to get some help in the short term. When I decided to throw in the towel I told my family and got their support. Doing the Methadone maintanence thing until I get comfortable professionally then plan on rapid opioid detox and follow-up Naltrexone maintanence.
Put on your headphones, music helps pass the time, and does sound better while in WD.
