Default Possible logical flaw in reincarnation

Reincarnation, of all religious tenets seems to have the most scientific backing. All that energy can't be created or destroyed, brains run on energy, it gets redistributed when we die and whatnot. You could be the coldest most objective science worshipping motherfucker, and believe it. As far as we know, it could be pretty reasonably argued.

Well check this out.

The whole system seems to work on one being good or bad in life, yes? If a lion eats, what, like a deer, does that make it bad? Animals are not moral operators and logically should move up, or not at all in subsequent lives. Still with me?

Conversely, very few humans should move terribly far down the latter, given very few are terribly evil. Say what you will, but we all gravitate pretty closely to neutral.

Given these "rules", if you will, why are there so many goddamn ants?

1. Not all people believe in the same system of reincarnation. Some don't believe they reincarnate in all animals for example, some believe we only inhabit human beings.

2. Your argument rests on a pretty subjective definition of neutral. Maybe those who you consider 'neutral' just miss meeting the requirements by a very small amount: they almost made it.

3. Conservation of energy doesn't support reincarnation. If it did, it would apply to automobiles that break down.

Well, if you are willing to go so far as to say that mental energies have a signature designating them as such, it would in no way be crazy to add that they can be affected by good or bad intentions.

It's pretty much both or neither, and given we don't know what the fuck we're talking about, your guess is as good as any.

I think I put a dent in at least the most generic concept of reincarnation. And for these purposes, we'll use the most basic principles of virtue vs. evil. Most people are pretty damn close to the center. And if it's close enough, you'd probably be a person or like a monkey, you know? Some assholes might become, like squids or something, but that's neither here nor there. We're talking general.

Anyway, we're getting deep into new age hippy talk here, where there's some magic world just under the surface of the tangible one. There are no sound logical explanations for shit like that. I came close with my original statement.

As has been noted, the whole modern, watered down concept of karma pretty much boils down to "God's gonna get ya."

Besides, Dick Sutphen (a Bushido master and one of the giants of the New Age) identified (I think) seven kinds of karma--only one of which was the "reward and punishment" variety--and pointed out that "wisdom erases karma," anyway.

Free will is absolute, and we decide when and how we reincarnate.

I wholly agree. It's nice to see someone that has knowledge/interest in metaphysics, as well as someone that doesn't say "Cause god said so!".

Anyway, OP, please try to find more definitions of reincarnation and other metaphysical theories (ex. Karma) that may have an effect on it. Especially before you try to point out any flaws in reincarnation as a whole.

It's a bit offensive when flawed beliefs/theories are sought by flawed or ignorant minds.

Good day...
