Are you prepared to fuck with your mind and body?
I never understand how people can have the balls to do drugs that are addictive and detrimental to ways of life and body.
Apart from alcohol (which I drink less and less of as I get older), drugs I use don't tend to do much damage to the mind or body when taken.
Despite regarding myself to be a little habitually addicted to smoking weed (don't tend to go a day without smoking up whilst at university, can drop the habit at home), anything like MDMA, LSD or shrooms I make either one time occurrences or from time to time (had about 4-5 occasions on pills/MDMA, once on shrooms, once on LSD but would repeat both).
This isn't a question of morals, just a question of drives.. the thought of doing cocaine, heroin, meth, pcp is beyond me. Despite not directly knowing anyone who has died or been seriously hurt by drugs like the above, I do know people who have grown dependent on cocaine. I would never risk the same displeasure.
What makes you think of doing it?

Re: Are you prepared to fuck with your mind and body?
Most people know it will fuck up their lives, but they tell themselves "just this once", then love it soooooooooo much they end up chasing that first feeling. You never really run down that first love, but addiction is there to take her place.
Peace.

Whether it's detrimental to the mind or body is subjective.
For all you know mainlining heroin may be the best decision of your life. :)

in the words of Ken Kesey "everything bruises something".
Honestly, tripping is so amazing that i don't really care what it destroys in me because i come out feeling a thousand times better, i become super analytical.
You could also say "why would someone play football, you could get injured very badly". The same argument can be made for any sport. So lets just all sit around and talk and take all the danger out of our lives. Why become an artist, you will probably get wrist problems as most tattoo artists and other artists do. Lets stop the art too. Shit, this world is dangerous. Lets fucking bubble-wrap everything. I'm done, you get the point.

I actually miss the days of being drug-free and long for the day when I'm free from the chains that are methadone addiction and agoraphobia.
There is sunshine, just not in my life currently :(

QMFT I was addicted to oxy and morphine from sep 07 to February 08. When I started using, I didn't think I'd get addicted, but man I wasn't careful enough and ended up shooting for 3 months chasing i high i could never catch.

Re: Are you prepared to fuck with your mind and body?
"But the satisfaction brought it back." Everyone forgets the second part of that quote
i was about to say the same thing...
i watch my usage of anything addictive closely, if i crave it after taking it once, i try not to do it more than every couple of weeks...
as far as LSD and mushrooms, and weed... i don't consider that harming my mind, in fact its probably stabilized me a bit as far as the mental aspect goes... before i had done any drugs at all, i was seriously contemplating suicide.... kind of sucks when you ask yourself "why don't i just put a couple grams of lead through my skull and be done with it? and not coming up with very many reasons not to... weed made life easier to live, it broke up the monotony and gave me something to do that never got old... my first acid trip shook me up emotionally and left me with a perspective of simply being happy to be alive. that insane happiness that i only get from lsd put me into that mindset after the trip was long over. sure oxycodone makes me feel good but acid made me feel so happy that nothing could ever compare to it, i truly believe that to feel that happy you have to go over the edge of sanity and reason... for once i laughed because it felt good to laugh, i laughed till it hurt and kept on laughing... that feeling that nothing is wrong in the world, everything is just perfect and life is fucking good... nothing else will ever compare to that, since that trip i haven't had any notion of killing myself...
but before doing anything i do a good deal of reading on it, i try to know whats going to happen beforehand... i take the good and the bad, and accept it...

Re: Are you prepared to fuck with your mind and body?
ok, so for most people, it's cognitive dissonance. Look it up. Its why people are always so set on beliving what they do. Once they belive something like "drugs are harmless" an attidude they pick up from gateway drugs: weed, OTC shit, etc. I can't speak for elsewhere, but in the US, anti-drug shit is all "if u do it u'l diezzzzz" then people do gateway drugs, and not only do they not die, they feel pretty damn good. So they completely disregard what they learned in Health. Then, rather than trying to figure out why they were lied to, how much of it was true, or determining anything else of that nature, they instantaneously adopt the belief that "droogz are teh funzorzzzz" and like idiots remain ignorant. Then, when someone offers them coke, X, H, meth, etc, they draw no distinction from when sum1 offered them gateway drugs and believe its harmless. They do it, have a damn good time, and do it again. Never mind dosage or harm reduction, they just use until they are dead, addicted, or arrested, cuz it'zz teh funzzz
So, in answer to the OP, why do people do hard drugs? Because they don't know any better. Or, even if they do know, thanks to cognitive dissonance, they believe drugs are harmless or relatively harmless, or they'll only do it once, or some other bullshit justification that says there's no reason not to and that doing it feels good.
The answer? To stop pushing abstinance and start pushing harm reduction, as well as accurate info. Tell kids that yes, drugs can feel good. Really good. And, yes, they can be used in moderation as well as in combo with shit that prevents the brain damage from accrueing.
There was major reform along those lines in the whole sex ed part of school and it worked FUCKING MAGIC for std rates and underage pregnancies and such.
That way, when people do meth and enjoy the shit out of it, they won't instantaneosly disregard all that stuff they learned in health about how/why meth is bad. Instead they'll remember that exitotoxicity can be prevented with an NMDA antagonist. This way they can SAFELY enjoy methamphetamine/coke/H/WHATEVER.
Given...that doesn't deal entirely with addiction or downregulation, but if they also taught about how bad habitualy using hard drugs is, and they aren't given a reason to repress all that knowledge, they might just use moderately.

OP, why do you give a fuck?
Live and let live, asshole.
Just because you think that "mentally addictive" drugs are "bad" and destructive to the body because what you have been told by the government doesn't mean that everyone else does.
We judge based on our own personal experiences, not some NA freak who snorted an oz a day for 15 years. Not the government who says using meth one time will make you an addict.
You can go on w/ your life being a faggot ass sheep who bases his opinions and beliefs off of others, or you can live your own fucking life and base your opinion and beliefs off of your own experiences.

Re: Are you prepared to fuck with your mind and body?
Sometimes you have to do things that you know are tempting, and then walk away, just to say "fuck you" to the universe and your habitual side. Like, I am not a slave to anything.
You can't really say that and know it unless you test it out. That's not the main reason I enjoy using drugs, but it's definitely a valuable part of the experience.
On the surface, I know I'll probably never do a heavy dose of datura, but deep down, part of me still craves the experience. It's not about desiring good or bad things specifically, but instead to indulge in that which is powerful and strong - whatever ugly or beautiful form it happens to take.

thank you i thought i was the only one to think this!
but anyway
jamaica, you have the best reply here ive seen! well you and hydro.
but i like jamaica's better. its like, with drugs, you suddenly get a slap in the face. kinda like getting mad every so often, being happy all the time etc can get old, and sometimes people need a brick through their window to slap em back into reality and appreciate what they have.
same with drugs. life becomes monotonous, dull, emotions can be in the shitter, and really there isnt a way to gtfo, because when you look at everything around you, yea motherfucker. your still there.
and to have that sensation that everythings fine, for once, if only once, for it to be okay about everything, its just heavenly.
and yea, this country is a bitch. we constantly pressure everyone into "war on drugs" bullshit, and then when kids finally get some, they LOVE them, the gov's a two-faced whore and suddenly EVERYTHING is okay to do as much as you want. but hey, maybe we need to learn from other countries. dont hide away the real beauty of nature, let it be.
fucking neo-christian fundamentalist country of bastardized freedom!

Nah I'm not questioning weed or psychadelics.. I'm quite fond of those.. just the "hard" drugs that destroy your body/mind.

as long as your careful and knowledgeable about it, no drug should ever be a risk to your health.

This post strikes me as a bit hypocritical. Basically, what you're saying is:
1. I am not addicted and my drugs of choice are mild. (wrong and wrong)
2. I do not have the courage to try the things which I percieve as harmful.
3. Why do you do the drugs which I percieve as harmful?
And you ask this on a junkie forum. Shit, what did you expect?

Re: Are you prepared to fuck with your mind and body?
With shrooms, i never had taken them before So i was trying to take a tiny step past like a small trip you know. Basically curiosity at first.
Plus alot of people can really find themselves when fucked over, or figure out shit they need to find out. Some people cant act out/forward if they arent under the influence.
Like meth,coke,heroin....what do they do for you? Meth might help you slap out some creative or some hard work but most people who are hooked on it do neither of those and coke and heroin do shit for you.
With hallucinogens most likely people will learn something coming out of the trip or have a new temporary perspective.
And as for you little comment about women. Ive made some great advances on fine women whilst murdered out on opiates/high on weed etc. It all depends on your fucking will power.
