Default increase video playback quality ideas?

I am running a desktop with fedora and a Radeon x850 Pro vidCard; when i watch videos as small windows theyrun fine, but when i try to set my video to full screen, the quality greatly diminishes.

Download higher quality videos or downshift your screen resolution.

The frame rate drops? That's way different from the quality going down. I don't really think you can blame me for that.

ATI is generally very bitchy, and you should avoid it if at all possible. What graphics driver are you using?

i downloaded the driver off of the ati.amd site. and followed this tutorial http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Fed...allation_Guide

but couldn't get past -- "build and install the kernel module" --

That doesn't answer the question, but okay, that's probably the problem anyways.

You ran the commands on that howto and it didn't work? What was the output?

I am using the latest ATI Proprietary Driver for the Radeon X850

Code:
[root@localhost lib]# ./make.sh
ATI module generator V2.0
===================
initializing...
kernel includes at /usr/src/linux/include not found or incomplete
file:/usr/src/linux/include/linux/version.h
[root@localhost lib]#

Make sure you have the driver headers for you kernel installed. I'm not sure what the package is on yum, but search for linux-headers or something along those lines.

^^^ thats mostly shit. ATI drivers are far better than NVIDIA for linux. this guy doesn't know what he is on about.

what codec is being used. some (like flash video) run like dogshit on some systems in full screen. check the cpu useage while it is playing, if it is being maxxed out then you can perhaps turn off optional extras.

what video is giving you trouble? is it all videos? (do film rips do it?)

try and get something a bit graphic intensive to make sure the driver is working and installed. visualisations for music or a game with maxxed out settings will give you a hint.
