Trip Report (Sort of): Ambien
There it is, just sitting there. Ten milligrams of Zolpidem also known as Ambien. It's just sitting there and although it is inanimate I can hear it, calling me as if I were miles away. A faint echo can only be noticed, "Take me, snort me, do what you will, but get me inside of you." Who's voice is it? Mine.
So, what do I do? I ponder this question as I cough involuntarily, making sure not to make any extra noise besides the loud thumps of the keys being depressed. It's Monday morning, 3:58AM to be exact. I sooth the voice that now softly whispers, rather than an echo. "Come on, hurry up." It'll be alright. Well, the morning comes quick, so must make haste. :-)
I grab a piece of paper, which is hot pink, and slowly fold the paper over. The numbers imprinted on the tablet start to resemble a face, saying goodbye. My jaw clenched as I pulverized the little fucker. The voice is now gone, but instilled into a former form of what it once was. Milky white powder now sits in front of me. Hello You.
There it is, sitting inside me. Relieved I'd bet, victory has fallen upon my sorry nasal tubing. The flurry of words that were normally supposed to slip into my fingers has now declined in it's speed of process. I feel that if all of my cares in this world could be put into a bucket, I'd kick it over and watch it spill, just for the thrill of it. The cold air from my feet radiates through my socks, bringing in the spirits of whatever was outside. Reminiscing past experiences that have swept through my existence remind me of the one thing that always bugs me, nothing is real, not even you. You may think you are, but thats because you are thinking. If you don't think, are you real?
Tired, lazy, and a bit of déjà vu, déjà vu.
The salty substrate washes down my throat every so often. Not bad if I had to say. Man, do I need a cigarette.

Re: Trip Report (Sort of): Ambien
nice description. try downing 20-25mg. it makes me insane. literally. i start talking to myself out loud. i already talk to myself, but inside my head. this shit makes me blab out everything i think, loudly. i start hallucinating in a very vivid lucid dream type awareness. i once chilled with daffy duck and bugs while laughing and playing with them on my bed. it was a lot of fun.
but then i also had a bad experience which makes me respect that drug that much more. i took 30mg orally. i blacked out, i was told what happened to me when i awoke at the hospital, just wondering the fuck how i got there. they told me i fell down the flight of stairs in my house(16 steps). my parents said i was mumbling crazily and wasnt making any sense at all. they called the cops and away i went. waking up to something that happened, but you cant remeber it as hard as you try, is fuckin annoying and scary. my advice, when fucking around with this drug, BE CAUTIOUS. :)

Re: Trip Report (Sort of): Ambien
Descartes searched for one truth for which he could know for certainty in the uncertain holographic reality consciousness creates. Through his life of pondering, he came up with one solid truth, "I think therefore I am"; "Cogito, ergo sum".
He knows he is real. Even if his reality is an illusion, someone/something must be causing the illusion upon him, so therefore he is real. That's the one and only truth that we can know...
And ambien, eh.... it's ok. More delirious than introspective/recreational.

Re: Trip Report (Sort of): Ambien
They sometimes classify Ambien as a hypnotic. I believe that is so because, when the onset begins and takes hold of the conscious, it's only subjective and you don't feel necessarily overpowered. If you choose to sleep, you probably will. It's good for a sleep aid, but I've never really hallucinated to the point to get any real extreme OEV's. The most I've ever experienced is sometimes a slight distortion or size manipulation of corner of the eye sights. They may stretch and/or breathe subtly, but thats about it. I've done doses up to 30mg and had very little hallucinatory effects, but that was with oral ingestion. Could it be possible to obtain something substantial through insufflation?

As far as philosophy goes, one of the things that really entices me is the fact that, we all know what a lot of things look like and what to call them, but we may actually see/perceive something completely different from one another, basically reciting the "holographic illusion" that you were talking about. An apple to me is red, and round. An apple to everyone else is red and round, but what I call orange and oval could be what YOU actually see, but I see my version of red and round on my end. Language can, in my opinion, be a universal visionary filter.

Re: Trip Report (Sort of): Ambien

They are perceived as being real. How do you know that the rock you speak of will be the same rock once you look away? The mind creates knowledge based on three non-logical principles.
1.Principle of continued existence of things. The mind must make the illogical jump of determining object permanence. How do you know that because a cat walked behind a sofa, that it isn't gone? Why should you believe it's the same cat once it comes back into sight? Logic says you shouldn't, but you know that if you go behind the sofa, and come back you're still the same, so you apply this principle to your "reality"
2. Principle of induction. We make general laws which we say will hold true in the future, but this is not known for sure because the future has yet to happen. Just because we've seen things fall down towards the ground when you drop them doesn't mean the future will follow the same pattern, yet the mind still makes that jump.
3. Principle of causality. The mind constantly links events and creates a cause and effect relationship. For example, two billiard balls hit each other, and fly off in their respective directions. All the mind should see the balls moving in some direction, and then change and move in some other direction. There is no reality based explanation for explaining the human mind creating causal relationship. It just does.
As far as philosophy goes, one of the things that really entices me is the fact that, we all know what a lot of things look like and what to call them, but we may actually see/perceive something completely different from one another, basically reciting the "holographic illusion" that you were talking about. All of reality is subjective. That used to drive me crazy. We can only define reality as what we have perceived, and everything we know to be "knowledge" is intrinsically linked to us, since we are the "detector". Language, I feel, is collective pool of ideas. Not the actual ideas, but they represent ideas; some might say words represent "archetypes" (I think that was Jung?). These ideas are inherited after generations, and evolve and change like anything else in nature. For reasons unknown, words have the same value to every human being. Everyone knows what anxiety is, or love, or anger. Etc. These are non-empirical forms which are empirically shared throughout humanity. As you said, language does seem to act as a "universal visionary filter".
