House of Leaves
So I just heard of this book and became really interested in it. Apparently it's somewhat like the Blair Witch Project in principal (but better) and has a really interesting writing style/setup.
Has anyone read it? Also, I've tried looking for it in the internet and can't find it, can anyone help me out?

Try your local lending library?

Re: House of Leaves
It's my favorite book. It's frightening and epic and overwhelming and amazing. Just read it. It's available at Amazon and Powell's.

Re: House of Leaves
yeah dude, this book is the fucking shit, its the best thing i've read in a long time and i really can't recommend it enough. i don't want to tell you too much about it because it kind of ruins the premise of it, but it is a mind blower and is definitely worth reading.
i just bough my copy in like a barnes & noble, but if its not in any of your bookstores you can get it online somewhere.

I haven't read it, but I've heard people talk about it a lot, and nobody has ever referenced The Blair Witch Project before....
On the internet: http://www.amazon.com/House-Leaves-M...dp/0375703764/
Sadly the pirated ebook is, as far as I know, a myth.

Re: House of Leaves
Since the importance in the pages is not only in the text, then anyone making the e-book has to actually take a picture of each page.
I had a pdf with about the first third of the book, and there was supposed to be someone working on getting the whole thing down, but I never heard any more about that.

I also would like to read it but I cannot find a copy of it in any bookstore here in my place. I don't want to order it online since it is costly and I don't live in the States... Hehe!

Re: House of Leaves
I was thinking of getting this book but the £20 price tag put me off a bit. Plus I don't want to buy it only to end up not liking it. It looked like it would be a task to read.

Best book I've ever read. Disturbing on every level imaginable, and more complex than...Anything I've ever read, really.

Re: House of Leaves
It is quite possibly the best book I have ever read. You can't go back once you've read it. I personally have a copy, I know my local indigo does, and my local library does.
Are you sure you're looking in the right place, the author is Danielewski, I got confused the first time I looked for it, because I remembered hearing about Zampano (writer within the book)

Re: House of Leaves
I've heard lots about it. My dad got it and he really liked it, he gave it to me to read like 2 years ago but it's been on my bookshelf ever since and I haven't really gotten round to it. I was just flipping through it today actually after not thinking about it for a long time (weird how I just came upon this thread on the same day) and just flipping through the book it looks NUTS. The whole format is just insane, it's like, think modern type e.e. cummings poetry format, except over a whole book.

Re: House of Leaves
Dude... nobody should read this book on the computer. Get the real thing. The format of the book is part of it.
It is a ridiculous, total mindfuck. You should go get it right now, most major book stores carry it. But don't compare it to the Blair Witch Project, and keep reading even if it's not making sense.

Re: House of Leaves
yeah DO NOT READ THIS BOOK OFF OF A COMPUTER SCREEN
it completely defeats the purpose of everything that the book is trying to do.

Re: House of Leaves
^Seriously, the book itself became sort of a strange object to me. I can guarantee it won't be like anything else you've ever read. I moved into a house about a month ago, and I couldn't help but think about House of Leaves.
The people who lived here before claim this place is haunted, but I don't buy it.
But anyway, find the book, or buy it online, borrow it from someone, do what you've got to do to read this book. It's crazy as hell.

Re: House of Leaves
A guy came into work with this book recently but without any proper knowledge of its content I dismissed it as a silly gimmick (only got a glance at the pages). Looks like I'll be picking up a copy on this display of glowering adoration.

Re: House of Leaves
Don't forget to pick up a copy of Only Revolutions. It's also worth the read.
House of Leaves has a variety of editions. It's worth taking a look at the different versions.
There are first editions, second editions, blue editions, red editions, blue paperbacks, red paperbacks, and the full-colour remastered edition.

You shouldn't have trouble finding the full color remastered edition. It's the only one I've ever actually seen in a store.

Re: House of Leaves
yeah, i've read it. even my shitty library that usually has nothing newer worth reading had this book. i'd like to find other books like this...part of its appeal is like, people talking about it on the internet and such, almost like how people in the book talk about the book/project itself.
