I was upgrading to 8.1 alpha 6 of Ubuntu.
And my PC decided to shut down. Maybe I pulled a cord. I don't know.
I started the update manager again, but now it could only do a partial upgrade. I said fuck it and let it run.
It finished. I rebooted.
Now:
emerald isn't working, so I'm back at metacity
synaptic package manager doesn't open
I still get a notification for upgrades, but it doesn't want to. It either freezes or just doesn't open.
sudo doesn't recognize me. The Host. "sudo: unable to resolve host max-desktop"
My /etc/hosts says:
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 max-desktop.WORKGROUP
So that should be working, right?
Aptitude works from the command line, I might just give that a shot and try to fix it, in the mean time, can anyone help?
PS. This is a work machine.
EDIT: Ok, I got aptitude to upgrade everything and I removed broken packages. Maybe that'll help.
Another thing that it won't let me do is open folders. ;O
EDIT2: Ok, everything is semi-working now. But fuck this alpha. I'm going back to 7.1 ...
