Default R.I.P. 'Cobranaut'

Another life torn from this world way too soon.

He was fighting an uphill battle, and losing.

Gone, but will never be forgotten.

R.I.P. Evan "Cobranaut" Wills April 11, 1987 - March 4, 2008

"<cobranaut> hello guys, this is not cobranaut. this is his brother, wesley. i have some terrible news: last afternoon at 3pm my father went upstairs to find evan (cobra) in his chair with xbox controller in hand, dead"

killing also called his cell phone, and got his voice mail. Evan's brother called him back shortly after telling him what had happened.

Rest in Peace homie. I'm going to miss you.

Mods, please don't move this. He was a friend to many of us.

No details are known as of yet. But I imagine it is an OD. Whether or not if it was intentional - if that's what it was - I don't know either. I do know he was very depressed the past few weeks.

This is the Pharmacist and z3m all over again.

He recently got back into his heroin habit, and was mixing large doses of opiates and benzos. If I were to guess, I'd say that was the cause.

I've known him for what seems like forever, he talked me through some tough times....

This is fucking unbelievable.

He was someone I considered a good friend, even though I had never met him...

I don't really know what to say.

I've felt like i've known the guy for years, and learned alot through his words.

Far too young for this shit.

You will never be forgotten.

A beer will be poured, a joint smoked, and a prayer said in your remembrance tonight. I hope whatever is past this world, if anything, gives you peace.

RIP Cobra

He was a dear friend to me, and someone I really cared about, almost like a brother.

I saw him go down the spiral, and tried to help him as much as I could, as quite a few of us did, but he just couldn't beat it.

Maybe someone else on here with a similar problem can take something from this, and it can help you, so that he hasn't gone totally in vain.

I'm devastated that hes left our lives, but I'm more grateful I ever got to know him at all.

Rest easy, bro. I won't forget you.

I always hear people say that since they didn't know someone, that it doesn't matter to them that they passed.

I spoke to him a few times through MSN and seemed like a good guy... but I did not really know him... I still just about shed a tear and yelled "fuck" through my house several times... that ball of sadness is clogging my throat, and I didn't know the guy... I have no idea what his family is dealing with (it sounds like he was plenty young and still lived at home with a younger brother)

Fuck... I feel so sorry for the family and his friends that have to find out about this.

RIP Bro

This is a sad sad time.

Things like these just tear me apart because I've lost some really close people b/c of the fucking drug "culture". If you're not watching, she'll blind you out of all your respect... some people recover, some don't get the chance. I'm almost speechless, this will be on my mind all night while i work in the lab...

Man this is like heart breaking Im in tears and I havent cried sense I stood over my fathers dead body with his brains blew out.

Cobra (evan) was like a brother to me and we did everything alike for the mostpart. He was into everything I was and would always be there to hand a helping hand, We even had plans to travel around this summer he was gonna crash at my place.

I am getting customs dogtags made this weekend with his DOB-DOD and Full/nick name a lil extra shit that is jokes between us.

But after I save like $300 Im going to get a cobranaut tattoo. This will be a cobra in a space suit and helmet slithered around a rocketship shooting to the moon on my right arm. It will take up the whole area from my elbow to shoulder. It will also have a nice message with my feelings towards Cobra. I call him cobra because thats what we did on the phone when I would talk to him

Man the most fukced up part is me and him joked about him ODing and Dieing and me posted a fake thread as a joke a few days ago and it actually happens. Man I miss the kid he was like family to me. I called his cell and hopefully his brother can get back at me when he heards the heartfelt message I left/

While each person can take what they want from it, I have a feeling this is all just a part of a cycle that isnt going to stop anytime soon. Its something weve all come to expect...to accept. And it shouldn't be. Anyone who knows me knows that Ive traveled the same road most of us have. Its been harder for some than others, but for some reason, we could all take solace in the fact that were were fuck-ups together. The Brotherhood of Dysfunctional Drug Abusers. Great.

Ive been gone from the boards a long time. Mostly because im battling the same illness. I say illness because thats what it is. When it ceases being a desire, and it stops being fun...it is a disease. Its a cancer and a plague to the body. To wake up hallucinating, vomiting, in a cold sweat, wanting to pound your face through the wall.

I never thought I would ever let it get this bad. From a 3.9 GPA student, a writer, a musician...to this? Lots of times drugs cloud ones perception...like that disease...that sybiote...it controls your mind and makes you see normalcy. But in the moments of clarity I can see how fucked up things really are. So I have one question for you all...

Is it all really worth it?

Are those molecules, chemical compunds absorbed into your bloodstream really worth your life? Im not trying to say that theres no good use for drugs, but like this young man, so many are throwing everything away because...well I dont know why.

But I know that this isnt normal. Some nights, here by myself in the apartment, I think itd just be the most peaceful thing in the world to just melt down the entire gram and put it into my arm. To feel the warmth glaze over me....to sleep forever. to dream. And thats not fucking normal. Thats not who i am and thats not who anyone should be.

So is it worth it? Start taking stock in your life. Theres something each one of you can do to help. Stop glamorizing everything and making THIS the norm. 20 year olds overdosing in their rooms is not what anyone should aspire to. We should all be here for each other for something other than feeding each others sicknesses_even if it is just from across the country, behind a keyboard. Who knows, maybe you could save a life?

I dont know what else to say. Try. Live.

I think we all knew what we were getting into. I don't think we understood the magnitude of it though. Think about it: any one of us could die at ANY time. Drug related or not, every totsean's death is a sad thing, and we are all on the same path as him. He didn't want to die. RIP Evan; you were an amazing guy, a good poster, and a better friend. Its almost cliche...being young, you think yourself invulnerable. I remember when I was little, I didnt realize that everyone had to die. I thought people only died when other people didnt like them and killed them, or they werent careful and got badly hurt. Subconciously i think that carries on for along time, until something jolts ones conciousness into realization. For me, it was when my heart stopped after a night of heavy cocaine usage. Longest 10 seconds of my life. Someone can tell you till theyre blue in the face all the trouble and misery that comes with any one decision a person is liable to make...but it really doesnt mean a damn thing until you experience it yourself. I guess its one of the curses of being an alive, experientail being...we have to see everything for ourselves, no mater the cost. Im not suggesting that anyone is going to learn a damn thing from any of this. Each will have to discover ones oown enduring truths. Im just saying that rather than sit here and toast to another bright, promising life turned to dust, we start being real about whats going on.

He was very depressed recently. He was losing his will to live, but with that said I don't think this was an intentional overdose. He simply went over his limit.

Just a few days ago he was telling me his plans to turn his life around.

I'm gonna miss you, my friend. I'm still in shock from all this.

Cobra has been around for years; he's one of the handful within IRC that remembered when I used to post in BLTC.

There was more to him than the drugs he used or the people he knew. He was always around and never less than a good guy.

Agreed.

Maybe I can sympathise with how people who knew him, on here and real life, are reacting, cos I had a friend who tragically died when he was 16. It was such, there was so much pain and hurt and sorrow around everyone my age who knew him. It sucks, young people shouldn't die, RIP sam and cobranaut.

Im going to be hosting a memorial party for Evan (cobra) for all the florida members of BLTC mostly the people in #bltc. There are a bunch of florida memebers. Its basicly just gonna be a gathering down at the beach at night with a bon fire some music, some chemicals, and we can just chill and remember how Evan touched our lives. The dude was really one of my best friends. I think about him all day sense he died. I can't sleep really because when I lay down to sleep I just keep thinking about him. Im not sure on the date of the memorial party but it will be in a few weeks to a months. Anyone interested contact me via #bltc and we can set a date that will be good for everyone.

I am also getting a tattoo in the next month or so for cobra. I have the design thought up I just have to draw it up. Its basicly a cobra in a space a suit wraped around a rocket blasting off to the moon Its gonna cover my entire right arm from my elbow to my shoulder. Ill scan up the rough draft of the drawing this weekend when I get it done up when I have free time.

Evan, I blame myself everyday for what happened seeing that it was partily my fault for what happened and you will always be in my heart and soon to always be in my skin. I blame myself everyday for this happening, and I can only hope that your family can forgive me.

RIP my soul brother I hopefully we will meet up again either in the afterlife or in a trip. I just want to say good bye and sorry.

I love you man.

Cobra, you were my closest friend in BLTC, man, and one of (if not the) coolest motherfuckers around. You'll be deeply missed by others, certainly including myself... I'm not exactly a devout believer but I truly wish, hope, and damn near pray that you're in a better place, man, at peace. I'm not going to forget you, man, and I'm sure nobody will- sorry I hadn't been around more towards the end, man, honestly. I'm sorry.

Another fallen soldier. Another star is born.

I'm having a really hard time putting into words what i'm thinking. My third eye has shed a tear this day.

Yet, I am optimistic. He has set foot on another rung of the ladder. He is not in heaven, he is not in hell. He is in a place we cannot fathom with all of our being. He is in the cosmos, he is of the cosmos. I never knew him. I never had the pleasure of directly speaking to this person. I will one day have that honor. He is at an understanding we cannot foresee or ponder.

I love and respect every ounce of your being brother, but to say you have been taken too soon is ignorant. You have risen above us all, and I hope when the rungs of our cosmic ladder cross, our understandings will become one for only a moment, so that I can know you in every way possible.

My best friend is relatively new to totse, but he shed a tear for this man he never knew. From him, "Keep climbing the ladder, we shall meet soon enough."

All the best to you bro, we love and miss you. I hope your family is as ok as they can be, I know this is so hard for them, but my heart is with them just as it is with you.

All the love we can give brother.

We'll meet up soon enough.

Once again, Darwin has eliminated a useless bottom feeder from society.

And to you, my friend, you are the one that will vanish. You are of a kind that can not and will not ever understand. You are garbage in every way, and there is nothing about you I would not spit on and laugh as you writhe in pain for all eternity. Yet, you are not worthy of even that fate. You are forfeit and I love that fact. Fuck you and everyone who loves you.

We love you Cobra.

I am emerging from the shadows to post here. I havent even visited BLTC in over a year, probably. Anyone here remember me?

What a bummer. I didn't know him too well, but I did know him a little bit, talked to him a few times, and my deepest symapthies go out to him, and his family, and everyone.

I've had quite a bit of experience with this shit lately. Back in June '07, I OD'd myself, on methadone. Got locked in a theater overnight while I was ODing, puked, choked on my vomit, and caught pneumonia because my clothes were wet and the theater was cold. Doctors thought I'd be dead or significantly braindamaged for like 6 hours after they found me. I woke up in the hospital in so much fucking pain, with no clue what happened. I spent the subsequent 2 and a half months in rehab.

And then, not too long after I get out of rehab, my good, good friend (my best friend at one point), also OD'd, only he wasn't so lucky as to wake up in the hospital, or wake up even at all. I went and saw his family the night it happened, and they were totally torn up. I hadn't realized how bad it is to lose a kid (and I still don't...but I have more of an idea) until I saw them. So sad.

And now Cobranaut. And my sister's all fucked up on oxys and coke. Like, badly.

It's too much.

But I digress. Cobranaut, I always knew to be a real solid guy. Rest in peace, man. My thoughts go out to you.

I actually think this should be kept a sticky because people need to remember that shit can be fucked up for all of us (well I'm being pedantic, it's not so much on my end, but it could go the wrong way for anybody) and this place should give us some help.

Youve all learned absolutely NOTHING. fucking super. Lets all dedicate this next round of ravaging our bodies to death with drugs...to the guy who did just that! Somehow I dont think hed want that...to "inspire" a whole new generation of abusers to look for excuses to use.

I agree that the posts saying "this next *insert administrartion of opiate*(or whatever) is to you!" were in poor tastes, and were completely against the only positive that can come out of something like this, and thats others not having to go through what happened to him by looking at this for what it is.

Cobra died due to his addiction, with serious depression due to his struggle with his addiction. Honoring him by furthering your own destructive tendency is down right disrespectful, and insulting. To him, and to yourself.

Don't let his death be in vain. Take something away from this, people.

Wow, I remember seeing him posting around. It's very sad, and being an opiate addict is nothing anybody deserves to suffer through. I hate how people are dedicating drug use to him. I think I'll dedicate one more day of me getting my life back together to him. My skin is fucking crawling, my muscles feel like they're being ripped apart, and I can't get comfortable.

My track marks are fading and I'm starting to get my peace of mind back together. Reading this thread gave me goosebumps. Being off the drugs has me an emotional wreck. Almost anything has me on the verge of tears, and my family has no idea why I've changed so much.

I think I'm going to go for a walk now and think about things. It's sunny outside.

Another life torn from this world way too soon.

Tragic gardening accident. The authorities said it was one of those things best left unsolved.

Why? His death has affected me as it should anyone who knew him. I am merely in grievance of his passing. He was a wonderful human being.

Didn't you say you new him in person?

I spoke to him on the phone a few times, and we had many plans for this summer. We were supposed to go to a bunch of concerts, raves, and music festivals together. He was even going to shack up with me for a few weeks.

I hope you are not getting heavy into the drugs because of his death. Let it be a learning experience for you.

I've been clean off opiates for 7 1/2 months now, and sober from everything else for almost just as long. I occassionally use LSD and MDMA, but haven't smoked weed in quite some time because I'm looking for a job.

His passing HAS been a reason for me to stay clean, and hopefully has taught many others the value of youth and living, and even though you think you may know your limits and what you're dealing with, you can never been too careful.
