Default sleeping problems

I was hoping for some restoril or ambien. I just don't want to get restoril because I want something I can use long term and wont give me w/d's when I cease using it. My problem isn't falling asleep, it's staying asleep.

Any throughts on what I should ask for?

Are you looking for rec. use or just relief?

Because Ambien CR will definitely help with the staying asleep part. Seems that alcoholics (and "recovering alcoholics") tend to have issues with dependency due to GABAa cross tolerance. Otherwise, it's pretty low-risk on that issue.

Recreational use would be nice, but I actually do have sleep problems I do need fixed.

It's probably all stress-related anyways.

Well your bet for the rec. use is a Benzodiazepine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzodiazepine), but they have lovely withdrawl symptoms.

I know what benzos are. I (ab)used them for almost a year.
But the sleep I got off them was..the best sleep I have ever gotten. But i'm wondering if I start again, just for sleep, will I have w/d's? I plan to take this for 6 months.

My job sucks and i'm stressed out (military)

Xanax doesn't always=sleep. I have taken seroquel for that sort of thing, but it fucks with you big time.
