Default Biology and Psychological Drug Tolerance aka Joe P get in here please.

[quote=wikipedia under drug addict[
Psychological drug tolerance
The reward system is partly responsible for the psychological part of drug tolerance;
The CREB protein... activated by cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) immediately after a high, triggers genes that produce proteins such as dynorphin, which cuts off dopamine release and temporarily inhibits the reward circuit. In chronic drug users, a sustained activation of CREB thus forces a larger dose to be taken to reach the same effect...

Alright, so if we could inhibit the CREB protein or cAMP or dynorphine, we could conquer psychological drug tolerance, right?

^That is talking out of my ass

What can we do about this?

Well, it's pretty accurate to the article. OTOH, I'm noticing that wikipedia is also equivocating psychological dependency and physiological tolerance, and I'd love to see the IP edit logs and find which .gov pulled this crap. ;)

Incidentally, as far as I can tell, the section was copypasta'd from the literature on physiological dependency to morphine... but I could be wrong, it's been a while...

What can we do about this?

Well, I can tell you that no matter how much of this wiki article is true or false, this does not change the fact that if any part of this blind and incoherent copypasta was taken from an actual source... we need to kill dynorphin.

In fact, that itself could open up a whole new recreational target. ;) Thanks for the post.
