Calea Zacatechichi (Leaf of God)
I have really been wanting to try Calea Zacatechichi for awhile, and I think I'll actually go through with it. Sleep usually bores me. My dreams are uneventful, and when I do remember them cryptic. There's only one dream that I have ever had that I could remember and seemed to actually have meaning (I woke up in a cold sweat and it actually changed my life outlook). This is something that I would love to change and Calea Zacatechichi is easily accessable.
However, I'm still young enough that I live with my parents. I don't really think ordering something from the internet is really the best (or most cost-effective) method of getting the plant. My plan is to buy a full plant from a local nursery and dry out the leaves myself over the weekend. I might have to grow it, but I could just plant it and hope no one notices. I have never dried out plant leaves before, but I assume that you just leave them out in the sun until they are dry.
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the taking of it. From what I hear, the tea tastes rancid. So I'd plan on taking them or using algae capsules. Maybe a alcohol extract.
Anyone have any experience or suggestions with this plant?

Re: Calea Zacatechichi (Leaf of God)
Yeah I've done it. I bought pills from IAS. He recommended two, I took five, and had very vivid and lucid dreams. I felt different and colors seemed brighter sober but it might have been placebo.

Re: Calea Zacatechichi (Leaf of God)
From the classic American novel, "Sitting on a Hookers Face."
"Yeah, it's actually pretty popular with my friends. Here are my prep steps:
1. 1.5 g of plant material per intended dose.
2. Grind up into powder. Place in container.
3. Cover in EtOH. Let sit 3 - 5 days.
4. Strain into pyrex dish and dry in oven at 200F. (Note: Leave oven door slightly open.)
5. Once dried, weigh out and divide by number of doses. I typically get .14-.20g of extract per dose, with more as a function of time.
6. Load into capsules."
Now, obviously, analysing this essential text, we can see that it's easily changeable to whatever amounts we desire. However, there is more:
"One to two capsules are consumed and in about 15 minutes heavy sedation is found that is contrastly accompanied with crystal clear thinking and a severe reduction in anxiety, which continues for a few hours. Visual systems are affected but not psychedelically, instead the visual experience is more profound, as if more details from the environment can emerge. The physical sedation is often met with a feeling of being underwater. Sleep and dreams are affected for days after, particularly with larger doses, so the conscious affects of C. zacatechichi may be enjoyed without worry that one misses the affected dream state.
Killing hookers for blow is Satan's urge to all humankind."
Truly a strange text, indeed.

Re: Calea Zacatechichi (Leaf of God)
I wouldn't make tea, I would just pack some caps or something ... because in my expereince, yes, it does taste like drinking Satan's toilet water.
And smoking it tastes like shit too. My friend, who has had much more experience with it, just smoked it all the time before bed. Said he gets some crazy dreams.
I got bored with it. But after reading the above post, I have become interested yet again. ;)

Re: Calea Zacatechichi (Leaf of God)
Ive had some insane dreams after smoking some before going to sleep. Both good, and disturbing dreams.
Quick example:
I just started lucid dreaming, laying down on my couch, thinking about randomness, then it was like i was really there, like i slipped into the environment of what i was thinking about. I was somewhere with 3 girls and of course you can imagine what happened. It seemed ridiculously real and i even had a sense of touch/feel in the dream. I woke up with my hand over my face, I NEVER SLEEP LIKE THIS, and I realized it was just a short dream...

Well...I didn't find it to be anything that special. Yeah, it worked, but I'm not into that whole supernatural spiritual mumbo jumbo when it comes to drugs.
Also, good luck downing that shit when you prepare it...It literally felt like my whole mouth was coated with 30 different kinds of earwax.

3 questions.
1) Does it have to be dry first? I'd assume it would.
2) does the alcohol content matter? Do I just want some cheap 100 proof vodka, or do I need some crazy stuff like Everclear.
3) you said to strain the liquid. So, when dried, the alcohol evaporates, leaving only a purified form of whatever causes the psychoactive effects?

From the appendix:
"1. Yes, I let it completely dry out first. It doesn't form a sticky resin like most EtOH extracts. Usually once the dish dries out, I scape it out.
2. For the extraction it matters. I use Everclear because it dries out fast and I need alot less to extract. While both EtOH and water are polar solvents and either will extract the alkaloids, Everclear does a much better job (and at $15 a bottle, insanely cheap) and dries out much faster than water. You can use vodka, but it will take much longer to evap if you want to put in capsules. I prefer Everclear because it's cheaper, quicker, and better than other alcohols sold. However, of course, since the EtOH is evaped off, it makes no psychoactive difference, just a difference in extraction time and ability.
3. To strain, I have a wire mesh strainer and coffee filter that I filter the solution through, and the filter catches the left over plant material. The solution and eventually evaporated extract contain ~all the alkaloids of the plant, which I load into capsules so I don't have to taste the material. It's by no means 'purified,' but, hell, we don't even know what we're looking for. No one (I believe), knows yet what is the active ingredient, though a few ideas have been passed around.

No man, you can buy dried plant material from the net for fairly cheap.
I bought a 114g bag for around 30 with shipping out of country, and I am currently making a small 5ish gram extract so that I can try this twice more. (I tried smoking one time, which was fucking brutal, and didn't really work, I also just swallowed 2 grams of ground plant material in a single gulp one time.. hell) So I want to make a few small pieces of extract to either smoke or eat in capsules.
I have noticed after taking it that I have had a few vivid dreams (one was very eery) but I want to really experience something to talk about.

Personally, I wouldn't fuck around smoking it. I've never heard a substantially good report through smoking. I buy mine from BBB, $5/o $18/qp, and it ships from Kansas versus out of country. Also, they have Xhosa, which is reputably substantially more potent (though I don't think it has the same alkaloids), but is substantially more expensive.
My next project will be 5 doses in a capsule, just to see how far I can take it.

Yeah, I just finished making my extract, and it filled two OO caps FULL, and I probably used somewhere between 5g and 8g for the process.
Tonight as I am leaving work (11:30) I will eat the two caps and walk home whilst smoking some pot (I love smoking and walking)
If anything substantial happens, I will certainly leave a message here.

Re: Calea Zacatechichi (Leaf of God)

Nothing at all... I am very upset about it... I used around a 1/4 ounce for the extract, and fucking nothing happened... I slept like a log.
BUT, I did take hydromorphone last night also... which only effect on me was... my bladder just wouldn't hold urine.
I started walking home from work after snorting the HM, and I noticed a slight opiate feeling half way home, so I only had to walk for around another 5 minutes... by the time I could see my house I was almost wanting to run and was making urination deprived panicked sounds... and I thought to myself... how the fuck did I have to piss this much in the matter of 3 minutes!?!? then I thought I was going to piss myself, as I got in my door I ran to the washroom, didn't take off my shoes, didn't put out my cigarette, just ran, and as I was trying to unzip it just let go... I just started pissing without any effort, it just fell out, so I gave my fella a strong squeeze to stop the flow... does anyone know what happened here?? I have NEVER pissed my pants from holding it in... I have held it in for HOURS, and this was 2-3 minutes.... could the calea have something to do with this!??! or was it the hydromorphone?!?!
I don't know what to do about the calea though... im bummed that it isn't working.

Re: Calea Zacatechichi (Leaf of God)
Why'd you combine them if you wanted to get a subjective feel for Calea? If you take the relationship between opiates and psychedelics (opiates can greatly reduce/kill trips), I suppose you could postulate the same relationship to Calea and HM. So next time, stick to one drug?

Hahaha, I understand, and I thought of this before I took the calea and snorted the HM... but I wanted to get stoned after work... and that was the best I could do (a good opiate haha) but yeah... I pretty much piddled myself, felt no opiate goodness... and got nothing from my dreams.
I will make another extract within the next few days, a large one, eat it all, and hope that it works... if it does, I am sure this thread will hear of it.

See... I did an ISO extract, and got a thick hard goo, and it must have weighed a whole gram, because it looked like a gram of hash (not really, but weight wise) and I ate it all and got fucking nothing! So I am to assume I probably took near a 1/4oz.
What the fuck else am I supposed to do... I don't feel safe eating half an ounce of something that should effect you in the 2-4g range.
