Paying for drugs
We all know how hard it is to take drugs in moderation. We all know how expensive drugs are. Is dealing the only way to supply yourself with free drugs? Manufacturing them might be easy for speed and PCP and shit like that but its far from easy to synthesize cocaine and heroin. How do people do it? How do people keep taking drugs all the time and never go broke?

Re: Paying for drugs
You always hear about "crackheads or junkies prowling the streets in search of money for their next hit". It must be really fuckin hard for them. They have to make all that money on top of the money for food. I'd wanna be stone too if I was living in a cardboard box in the middle of the winter.

They don't.
If you take drugs all the time then you will always bust in the end. Money doesn't just appear from nowhere.
Also, dealing to sustain a drug habit is a very very bad idea. It becomes too easy to have drugs all the time, and you end up getting addicted and fucked up.
I knew this guy who was twenty something, was a manager at KFC (sounds dumb but he had no real qualifications so it was pretty good tbh) and dealt coke. Because of his coke profits, he could afford to buy more coke. Because he had lots of coke, he could do lots of coke.
Basically, he ended up heavily addicted and doing more coke than he sold. Then he lost his job at KFC because the regional manager caught a big deal going on inside the office. Because he lost his job, he ended up doing even more coke, and gave up dealing completely.
I've not seen him for about 8 months, but his life is fucked. He also had a kid.

Its about time they just realized that prohibition is the main cause of shitloads of people getting robbed, mugged and killed by crackheads and junkies. Legalize the shit and all these junkies will never cause anyone problems any more.

....
Legalization and free drugs don't go hand in hand. Crackheads would still be roaming the streets, even if drugs were legalized, looking for money to pay for their next fix.
Legal or illegal, drugs still cost money. And people without money are going to be looking for ways to obtain money.

And alcoholic bums trying to pay for alcohol with food stamps. And when the above doesn't work, alcoholic bums buying flavored extracts and a gallon of koolade to get drunk on.

That's how I started out, but now I personally go through about an eighth a day and smoke atleast a quarter a day. Around here, everyone deals weed and the prices are so damn high dealers can afford to smoke half their ounce or whatever they have.
About legalizing heroin, I agree some of the problem would be solved, but how would you feel about it when EVERYONE could easily get pure heroin and most of the country is addicted to it? And junkies would still need to make money some how. Do you really think that people could make enough money if they need to keep getting fucked up? But I guess less people would care about the problems of the earth though.
God I wish heroin was legal...

Something like 90% of the price of Cocaine is transportation, smuggling, and dealer mark up. In Medillin, blow is like $2.50 a gram. It wouldn't be free, but it would be alot cheaper.

If drugs were legalized then they would probably have even higher markup. Plus the government would no doubt tax and heavily regulate the goods, thus pushing the price even higher.
The price of legal drugs would be sky high. Just look at the price of legal drugs and subscriptions.

Re: Paying for drugs

I doubt it, because if you remember many currently illegal drugs were legal at one time, and their prices went up when things changed. I don't necessarily think it should be up to the government to provide the drugs, just to regulate them in the market place, and to stop monopolies. Competition between sellers would help keep prices lower and quality higher.
And for certain drugs, the recreational market would suffer great losses. Cannabis, for instance, would thrive as an industrial resource. But most people who enjoy frequently smoking would simply grow their own, I assume ... I mean, I would. I'm sure there would be a number of people who would rather just go to the store and pick up an ounce jar occasionally, but I think the recreational pot-market would eventually be much smaller then it is currently while illegal, if growing is allowed also.
Plus the government would no doubt tax and heavily regulate the goods, thus pushing the price even higher.
Well, that could be great and greatly reduce the amount you pay in other areas of your life.
Using pot as another example, I've heard that in certain countries more relaxed in their attitudes towards cannabis, that it can go for around 40 cents a gram. Lets say they legalized in in Canada, and with all the extra pot going around, the price eventually drops to a dollar a gram. Then if it was regulated and the government slapped a 500% tax on it it would still only cost half of what it did while illegal, and that money could go to so much.
The price of legal drugs would be sky high. Just look at the price of legal drugs and subscriptions.
I think you have a point here, but I also think that might be because that market is very monopolized and thats something I disagree with too.

I know what your talking about, lots of people would grow their own, but the way I see it, only for a few years. As we all know, most potheads are a bunch of lazy fucks :) but still most of them would want to grow their own. But as the goverment gets better at growing the grass after a few years, prices will come down and potency will go up. Then most people will stop growing their own because it will simply be easier and possibly cheaper to go down to your local deppaneur and pick up a pack of joints, just like ciggs. You dont see many people growing their own tobacco right?

Yeah right. This is America we're talking about. People don't bake their own bread, even though they can go to the store and get flour and yeast; they don't grow their own tobacco; they don't brew their own beer or wine, they don't fix their own cars, though parts and manuals are available. It's a land of convenience. If you started selling ounces at the corner store, the only ones who would grow it would be the ones who really find growing interesting and fun. It'd still be a niche industry, but far more people would take the easy way out.
American stoners, putting lots of time and money into growing when they can just go buy it? Please, they don't even fix their own meals when they have some spare change for fast food.

True, but I doubt it would cause an increase in price ... especially when growing your own is always still an available option. I can only see tax benefits in having a larger consumer appeal.
Also, besides pot, mushrooms, and poppies, some drugs would never really be that easy for you or me to make on our own and the market for those drugs would always be large because of that.

Re: Paying for drugs
Yeah the government would most likely jump from one extreme to the other. They'd tax the fuck outta drugs and make them just like tobacco and alcohol. They would give heavy sentences to anyone making their own but the plus side is they would be top quality, you know exactly where they come from and you won't be arrested for using or having them.
The prices definitely WILL drop though no matter how greedy the government is. Heroin, cocaine and opium were legal in the U.S a hundred years ago and it was the same price as buying a box of teabags. They showed the size of the containers they used to sell at the D.E.A. museum and they were the size of modern coffee containers and they were about the same price as coffee is today.
We'd need to force the government into letting drugs be freely manufactured and distributed by shops and supermarkets like coffee is today. If alcohol was illegal it would definitely be more expensive and it would be shit quality. The reason average people don't bootleg anymore is because its real hard to make alcohol as high quality as whats in the liquor stores. People are free to make their own beer but alot of people don't do it because their beer tastes like piss compared to heineken or corona or other commercial beer.

I dont think the combined power of America's stoners should ever be doubted. They are the ones that have the jobs that keep the infrastructure going.

Re: Paying for drugs
I'm surprised no one said this one already ONLINE POKER.
I play 2-3 hours a day online, sometimes as many as 5 or 6 hours if there's nothing better to do.
Playing the $5-$10 sit and go tournaments is a pretty good way to make money. Usually it's around $10 an hour, sometimes as much as $100 though.
Keep in mind that I do have losing days also, it's all a matter of variance. If you play well (more importantly play smart) you will profit in the long run.
Usually I make around $200 a week, good weeks I can make around 400-$500. It pays for booze, weed, and birthday/christmas presents for friends and family.

I just try to play smart and make good decisions. I started out playing just for fun but quickly learned that most people who play the lowest stakes online can be beat with simple-minded, smart poker.
Like I said, I do have losing days. You do get some downright shit luck every once in a while and it can be discouraging, but you need to keep playing smart and not let your emotions get in the way. That's why being able to smoke bud helps alot because a few really bad beats can be smoked away in 10 minutes. Since I can't smoke for a little longer, I usually take a break for an hour or so if I find some really bad luck has come my way.
If your interested in trying to make some online cash, I would recommend starting with $50 on Full Tilt poker. $50 isn't much, but it will get you started and I recommend Full Tilt because I've found that the worst (and dumbest) players typically play on this site. Never hurts to have bad competition!
