Question about Vaporizer Pipes
When smoking out of the ceramic vaporizer pipes (Two Piece, screw off top w/ a smoking stone b/t the bud and your lighter) does the bud actually burn or does it just take the THC out or something??
I was given a vaporizer pipe... but my over-analytical mindset has led to me believe it is kinda pointless b/c I don't see how the bud burns.

Re: Question about Vaporizer Pipes
That's the point of it, it doesn't burn. It Vaporizes! Basically most of the essential oils that contain the fun stuff you want inside you can be boiled off without igniting the bud. The spent bud can then be tossed as it is now all but devoid of anything useful.
On a side note, the high seems a little different, but not horribly so. Might just be me. Friends had one of those digital air models. Many fun times were had.
EDIT: SAS, if he's got the one i'm familliar you cna go here: http://www.air-2.com/

This is a wooden version... the closest I can find to it.
But anyways... the bud loses it's potency w/o burning? :-( It seems like the high would be way more placid.

Re: Question about Vaporizer Pipes
My apologies, i realized after carefully re reading your description masero that i had a different unit in mind. But yeah, the reason it works to smoke or vaporize bud is that the active principal thc is concentrated in the plant oils of the bud.
Smoking burns bud, vaporizing and or atomizing most of the plants chemical structures. A vaporizer is designed to raise the temperature of the bud beyond the boiling point of the thc and the lighter plant oils. Whats left still looks and vaguely smells like bud, but it will no longer have any sticky to it and can just about be turned to dust by rubbing your fingers.
As far as describing the high, placid would be good. It sort lacks the "rushing" come on you get from smoking and for me tends towards more of the body high than anything.

Re: Question about Vaporizer Pipes
from my experience, vaporizing tends to be more of a cerebral high

Re: Question about Vaporizer Pipes
Ya... I just tried it w/ some really sticky green and I'm not really impressed with it. Maybe I'm just waiting for the smoke to come or something... I dunno.
Here's an idea... that is probably stupid, but makes me wonder... I could load the top of the stone screw on w/ bud and put bud in the vaporizing section... and cause the vaporizing bud to resinate? Possibly? I had a two chamber glass piece at one time that you could do that with... and if the smoking stone is inbetween the two... it seems like it might make it cleaner.
EDIT: Holy crap... sitting here now, listening to my lecture class, I felt it kinda sneak up and take me by surprise. I understand the high now... that's crazy.
