Drug website
Would anyone here be interested in helping me establish a drug related website, like freevibe only not retarded. A website that presents the facts on drugs and encourages the people to make their own choices rather than distinctly anti drug or propaganda.
I'll pay for the hosting costs and domain name if I can get some real help from established totseans.

Honestly I don't think that's really necessary. Sites like erowid provide a good source for well rounded information, ranging from effects, experiences, history, etc...

Re: Drug website
Unless you want to create something that users feel they can go to and get direct answers to their questions from people actually qualified to answer, you won't be better than erowid. Oh and by qualified, i mean having a VAST knowledge of any drug that a user can come at them with.

I wasnt thinking of making a site like erowid, erowid is just facts and experiances. plus erowid tends only to be known by drugusers, I was thinking of a site for the average person. without bias for eather issue.

A lot of things that aren't anti-drug are pro-drug. Honestly, from a completely objective standpoint, drugs are bad. They are a plague on the lower class, etc. Drug dealers prey on those too poor to afford the staples of a regular happy suburban life, and those people use drugs to get by and be "happy." But, the drugs are gone in the morning, and they need more the next day to repeat the cycle. Every day, their wallet gets a little thinner, the money disappears but nothing gets better. They don't realize that maybe if they saved all that money up, they could buy something that could genuinely make them happy and improve their quality of life, instead of drugs that artificially induce happiness and just make them not notice how shitty their life is. Drugs make people do terrible things; drive drunk and kill innocent children riding in the car on the way to a birthday party, rob the 7-11 and shoot the cashier just so they can get that $65 for just a little more crack. Not to mention that the money from drugs goes to some pretty terrible people, murders. I could go on with this for way longer, but I won't.
Drugs can be used in a safe and positive manner, but that isn't the way most people use them.

Too bad that's not comepletely objective, it's an opinion.
They are a plague on the lower class, etc. Drug dealers prey on those too poor to afford the staples of a regular happy suburban life, and those people use drugs to get by and be "happy."
So, drug use is only an epidemic among a specific economic demographic? I'd argue it's personality based. Go look up what happened to the Philadelphia Eagle's coach, Andy Reid's, son. I assure you Andy Reid is not lower-class.
Drug dealers don't prey on anyone. The offer a product. People buy it. That's like saying McDonald's preys on fat people.
What the fuck are the regular happy staples of suburban life? Driving a nice car and coming home and not having to worry about people fucking with it over night? Not everyone's parents have money, you yuppie. Drugs make you happy, no quotes. Take, for example, cocaine. Dopamine reuptake inhibitor. Sounds quite happy to me. And while it may only last short term, there are plenty of people who can employ the restraint required to not call their awful, manipulative dealers back three times a night.
They don't realize that maybe if they saved all that money up, they could buy something that could genuinely make them happy and improve their quality of life, instead of drugs that artificially induce happiness and just make them not notice how shitty their life is.
Yeah, I see how pinching pennies in order to spend sixty thousand on a car that gets you from point a to point b as well as the Dodge Neon they've already got would make them much happier than relaxing each day after busting their ass at work with a blunt.

I'm glad.

Fine, drugs can have a negative effect on the upper class too. The effect is just much more pronounced when looking at the lower class.
Drug dealers don't prey on anyone. The offer a product. People buy it. That's like saying McDonald's preys on fat people.
That's stupid. Obviously the offer a product and people buy it. But, the product is bad for the buyer. The drug dealer knows this, and they know the consumer is stupid and will come back for more. The consumer works hard for his money, busts his ass all day at a low paying job and then just hands his paycheck over to the drug dealer. That's like saying they should sell Ford Pinto's even if they explode. It doesn't matter that the shit will explode if you get in a fender bender, people buy it...right?
What the fuck are the regular happy staples of suburban life? Driving a nice car and coming home and not having to worry about people fucking with it over night? Not everyone's parents have money, you yuppie. Drugs make you happy, no quotes. Take, for example, cocaine. Dopamine reuptake inhibitor. Sounds quite happy to me. I come from a lower middle class family, I wasn't born with money and I don't have a lot of money now. But, my background has nothing to do with this. Drugs don't make you happy. They trick your brain into thinking you are happy. Not to say that drugs cannot bring happiness, but it's indirect. It's from smoking a blunt with your friends, or something. Drugs have been a part of many of the best moments in my life, without a doubt. But, they are only a contributing factor, they are not what makes you happy.
You should stick with the example of smoking a blunt after work, because there is nothing happy about cocaine. You say "awful manipulative dealers" with a sarcastic tone, but the fact is that the dealer really is manipulating the consumers into buying more coke. The drug is addictive, and it causes you to be really fucking happy for a really short period of time. He knows you can't get enough, and that most people will call back for more. When you live a shitty life and have nothing that makes you genuinely happy, it's hard to have "restraint" enough to not call back for more of the drug that makes you feel so happy.
Yeah, I see how pinching pennies in order to spend sixty thousand on a car that gets you from point a to point b as well as the Dodge Neon they've already got would make them much happier than relaxing each day after busting their ass at work with a blunt.
It's not "penny pinching," you idiot. Nobody is saying this guy will quit doing drugs and next week move into a million dollar mansion. If he quits drugs, Jesus won't buy him a Lexus. That's a stupid statement. It's a strawman, it's ridiculously exaggerated and clearly I wasn't saying everyone in the ghetto should start buying $60,000 cars. But whatever, in the example our guy is a lower class (probably black) guy who busts his ass at a minimum wage job and smokes a blunt every day when he gets off work.
He works 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year...
8 X 5 X 50 X 5.75(minimum wage) = $11,500
He smokes a blunt ($5) and buys a cigar ($1) every day when he gets off work, and one to relax on Saturday and Sunday...
6 X 365 = $2190
2190/11500 = 0.19
So, our example guy, spends 19% of his annual income on smoking. That's one fifth of his income. And maybe six bucks a day won't make that much of a difference to him, but if he saved this money he could use it for much better causes. Possibly to put one of his children through some sort of college, so he can escape the demographic of minimum wage jobs and smoking blunts after work.
Whenever I say drugs are bad in BLTC, it's mostly me playing devil's advocate, though...

Re: Drug website
But what about the probability of him getting sick, getting drunk or kidnapped?
Fine, he will be sick enough to stay home from work five days a year. That will take his annual income down to $11,270. We will say he never gets any medical care, it's not like he could afford that anyways. He will get drunk every friday night after a long week of work, but he will drink King Cobra cans (37cents/each) and on average he will drink 7. This will add $134.68 to his annual drug budget, making it around $2325. Odds of him getting kidnapped are slim to none, who would kidnap a black man below the poverty line? None of his relatives will be able to pay ransom.
Factoring in his drinking on friday night, and being sick five days a year...he now spends 20.63% of his income on marijuana and alcohol.

While you make a great point magic hobo, I don't agree with your stance. I don't belive all drugs are inherently bad, and I don't exactly wanna advocate meth, crack, coke or Heroine use on my site and those are usually the drugs that drive people to that sort of thing. I actually would prefer if everyone stayed away from those drugs all together.= and just sticked to better drugs.

I am not blaming the drug at all. The drug is just some shit in a bag. It is the dealer's fault. He could work at a goddamn car dealership, or be a chef or something. He doesn't have to make a living selling drugs.
They don't know what they get into when they buy it. A major characteristic that seperates the upper class from the lower class is that most lower class individuals have trouble thinking in the long term. They think about getting fucked up now, feeling better now, etc. They don't think about how soon it will be gone and they won't even have cash to buy Ramen this week.
This is only in reference to coke dealers and crack dealers. The other dealers are often good people in my book, but I have never met a coke dealer or crack dealer that I thought was a good fucking person. They are scam artists, and you won't find a decent human being in the bunch.

Re: Drug website
It is the dealer's fault.
What? Does the dealer force people to use? Does he sneak up on straight people from dark alleys and inject them with needles from behind? No.
Do people need to be intoxicated to get into car accidents? No ... and when someone does, do you blame the auto dealer? "Hell, he doesn't have to sell death on wheels."
No. Thats ridiculous.
Driving a car carries certain risks. Combined with a stupid, or risky person, those risks become consequences. When that happens, you can blame the car or the dealership if you want, but in the end, a car is just an inanimate object and the auto dealer was just a means of acquiring it. The person still made their choices.
Using drugs carries certain risks. Combined with a stupid or risky person, those risks become consequences. You can blame the drugs or the dealers all you want, but in reality, it is the user who is to blame for the choices they made.
They don't know what they get into when they buy it.
No, they don't. Why don't they? Because drugs are illegal, they aren't properly taught about in schools, and become this mysterious lure to the curiosity of the young and ignorant. Which is exactly why they should cut the bullshit and propaganda, and actually educate people about what different drugs do in science. Then when people decide to use drugs, they would have the knowledge to greatly reduce their chance of fucking up life.
A major characteristic that seperates the upper class from the lower class is that most lower class individuals have trouble thinking in the long term. They think about getting fucked up now, feeling better now, etc. They don't think about how soon it will be gone and they won't even have cash to buy Ramen this week.
I can think of a variety of ways either characteristic could apply to either group. In short, stereotyping doesn't work.
This is only in reference to coke dealers and crack dealers. The other dealers are often good people in my book, but I have never met a coke dealer or crack dealer that I thought was a good fucking person. They are scam artists, and you won't find a decent human being in the bunch.
Users who otherwise would not be seen as criminals in the eyes of society would not have to meet with such people if such substances could be acquired by legal means.
Drugs can be used in a safe and positive manner, but that isn't the way most people use them.
With this agree with you. But in our solutions, we differ.
You continue to blame the drugs and their sources.
I blame the choices people make.

No. Thats ridiculous.
That's ridiculous. Even if cars are what you call "death on wheels," they are a necessary evil. Required for people to get from point A to point B in a timely fashion. Without them, the world would not function smoothly. Drugs, on the other hand, are not a necessary evil. They don't really get you anywhere, they don't really do anything for you that absolutely has to be done.
Again, a weak strawman is set up to counter my argument. Obviously the dealer doesn't inject anyone with needles in dark alleys. I never said anything like that. The fact of the matter is that people within this demographic are trapped and are looking for a way to find happiness and a way out of their shitty life. The dealers tricks them with a sense of false hope, and gives them temporary happiness. But, the dealer gets real happiness. He has money. He is the one that steals from his friends, neighbors, and peers to crawl out of the life of poverty he was born into. In the morning, those people have nothing because they spent it all on coke. He has all their hard earned cash, for almost no work at all. All he needed was (possibly, but not necessarily) capital and a basic understanding of wholesale and retail economics.
No, they don't. Why don't they? Because drugs are illegal, they aren't properly taught about in schools, and become this mysterious lure to the curiosity of the young and ignorant. Re: Drug website

I thought the sarcasm was obvious.
... they are a necessary evil. Required for people to get from point A to point B in a timely fashion. Without them, the world would not function smoothly.
No, they only seem necessary because we have allowed our communities to be built based on the automobile. Were they necessary for the last 10000 years?
How about sports, which can seriously injure you? They are not necessary for progression, they are entertainment. How about extreme sports, which could be fatal? Do you blame the sport? Do you blame the community which keeps it alive?
Or is it more reasonable to blame the choices of the person who participated?
Drugs, on the other hand, are not a necessary evil. They don't really get you anywhere, they don't really do anything for you that absolutely has to be done.
What does not being a necessary part of life, have anything to do with laying the blame where it belongs?
And used properly, drugs can take you to unimaginable places, and teach you invaluable lessons about life. You don't have to do that, but you don't have to drive a car to get by either.
The fact of the matter is that people within this demographic are trapped and are looking for a way to find happiness and a way out of their shitty life. The dealers tricks them with a sense of false hope, and gives them temporary happiness.
You don't understand how its the people doing that to themselves? They could look for happiness in so many other ways. They choose to buy drugs.
Hell, if it wasn't drug dealers and street drugs, it would be huffing fuels, jenkum and glue. And don't give me that crap about the poor, the rich also escape from their problems in drug use as well. It is their choice to escape from their personal problems in drug use which is the real root of the 'drug problem'. The problem is the combined lack of proper education about drugs and about how to deal with your problems yourself, which plagues our culture.
But, the dealer gets real happiness. He has money. He is the one that steals from his friends, neighbors, and peers to crawl out of the life of poverty he was born into.
You claim thats real happiness?
In the morning, those people have nothing because they spent it all on coke. He has all their hard earned cash, for almost no work at all. All he needed was (possibly, but not necessarily) capital and a basic understanding of wholesale and retail economics.
And thats why prohibition doesn't work ... it just creates opportunity. The problem isn't that drugs are provided, it isn't the drugs themselves ... it is the decisions made by the ignorant.

Re: Drug website
thats a good website, but its not what I had in mind.
What exactly do you have in mind?
A site that encourages people to make their own choices ... but you would also prefer it if people stayed away from hard drugs? How will you do this?
And why? What consequences could catch up with them if they use hard drugs? Why would that happen, but not with soft drugs?
See, I think its pretty obvious that people already make their own choice about drugs. But because they have not been properly educated about drugs and that they are choosing to use them for the wrong reasons because they have also not been taught how to deal with life, they end up getting fucked and it creates addictions and adds more problems to their life's.
I think if your site is going to actually change peoples life's and alleviate the 'drug problem' in real life, it should focus on those issues. Reliable, usable and seriously researched information. Reasons why escapism leads to other problems. Reasons why you should deal with life, not run from it. Reasons why prohibition contributes to all this, but why we can still beat it. Will your site deliver that? I hope so. But I don't know.
Will you take it beyond telling people they need to make their own decision about using "heroine"?

I've always supported helping people make their OWN, informed decisions. I could easily provide actual testimonials of various users experiences while supplementing them with hard facts.

I want a website that presents the facts about the drug good or bad, and asks people to make there own informed choices about drugs. I dont want every piece of info. on every drug, like erowid. I hopefully want to include a section on safer ,smarter, and heathier use(vaping weed, purifying heroine, making sure your E isnt something else).
I know the idea isnt exactly comlete and I know its not something I can do alone, so thats why I'm aking for help.
