Broken ROOR?
My good friend has had two Roors in the past that have both ended up being broken on the joint where the downstem goes on. He recently quit smoking and was about to throw out one of them so I got it off of him for free. Now my question is, does anybody know where I could get it fixed? Obviously you guys wouldnt know an exact place since you probably don't live in the same state as me(MI), but can anyone tell me where to start looking? A long time ago I heard Roor does repairs but i'm not too sure about that. Any help you guys could give is well appreciated.

Re: Broken ROOR?
Fix it yourself? Use some strong glue and improvise.

Re: Broken ROOR?
I don't have the other pieces, just the tube. Also I kind of want to get it fixed right and have a nice (kind of) new roor.

Glass is pretty hard to fix. Bummer dude. I think your best bet would be to improvise.

Where in MI do you live? Ann Arbor has a couple nice headshops, 420[42 degrees] and stairway to heaven. I wouldn't be suprised if 1 of those places might fix it for you or at least help you to find a place to fix it.

Re: Broken ROOR?
Yeah I actually got my vaporizer from 42 degees but I have called around and I don't think many places will fix them. I guess I will have to wait for roor to come out with the english PDF for their repair service. Its an awesome bong too. I think its is a 5.0, that or thicker, with a white label and ice notches, standing at about 1 and a half feet. That is my ideal bong size too...

Re: Broken ROOR?
glass is real easy to fix if you have access to a furnace (kiln) and a MAAP or propane torch
the process goes like this. you heat the piece first to 1-1,200F degrees to reduce thermal shock, and quickly while its still hot you would use a MAAP or propane torch to spot fuse the broken piece together. then you'd place the whole thing back in the oven once more at 1500 degrees for an hour to anneal it.

Re: Broken ROOR?
Yeah but the actual bong is broken, not the pieces. It is the part where the downstem actually fits in. This is the way I've seen most roors break. I need an actual glassblower to do it.

oic well, my advice would be fix it with packing tape, it might look a little ghetto, but it's a fucking roor, who cares. or, fork out the money and time and have a glassblower fix it. The reason that I would just do a cheap fix with tape is because you didn't pay anything for it in the first place.

Re: Broken ROOR?
If you cant fix it, modify it! Make a whole new piece out of it like a steamroller or something. The most kickass steam roller i have ever used, I made out of a piece of bamboo from our farm.

Re: Broken ROOR?
If you cant find a headshop to do it, just clean it really well and find a regular old glassblower, unless they have some moral problem with weed (which they shouldnt) they would probably be happy to do it, and of course refer to it as your "tobacco water pipe"
and dont pay over fifty bucks, and thats being generous.

Re: Broken ROOR?
Shit son I'd find some way to nigger-rig that shit, maybe uh.. epoxy it back, but then you'd have no way to clear it. Oh that sucks man, so close to being so awesome.
You could always sell it to some idiot for 50$ if you just get tired of it.

Re: Broken ROOR?
My friend that fixes bongs uses a sort of gray putty/paste that is malleable for a little while, but after a while it hardens up to form a pretty good seal. He's done it to like 10-15 bongs and they all work fine. I'll ask him what it is next time I see him.

I believe what you're referring to is magnum steel, or JB Weld. Magnum Steel is the superior product, IMO.

I'm talking about the type of guy who doesn't even really know how a bong should work. Just stick the stem down in the little hole and call it a day...
And I know there are people like this because I smoked with a kid like two weeks ago who, when I passed him the piece, tried to inhale out of the carb and ended up burning his mouth......
Now imagine a guy like that on the other end of the bong, he would probably end up buying it just to look cool.

I didn't say to use it on a part thats going to be heated alot, I've only used it to fix parts of glass bowls like when the mouthpiece area cracks.
Edit: I believe Magnum Steel is able to withstand tempratures of 300+ degrees Farenheit. Not sure though, so I still wouldn't want to use it on a heated part, like a bowl head.

I think he is referring to it being strong.
